DIRECTIONS FOR Us.-.Connect the two metallic cords with the sockets at the end of the box, and apply
the handles att~fthed to the same to the part desired to ho subjected to the electric current, the strength
of which can be regulated by the speed at which the lhandle is turned. If it is desired greatly to
increase the power, the brass kntob at the end of the box should he 1 ,ulled out, so as to disconn ect the
keeper from the magnet. If a piece of wet sponge is placed in each handle, it will obviate the pricking
sensation which at times is an annoyance to the patient. These sponges must not be put away in the
'box damp, as they will rust the apparatus. The hearings and spring should be occasionally oiled.

Dinacriows Foa UsE.-Place the wire stem A in the groove at the back of the Mirror B (8* inch of
10-inch reflected focus); slide the ivory mount C either up or down, so that the small hole in the centre of
the Mirror be in a direct line with the eye; the groove at the back of the Mirror enabling the instrnment to
be moved in any position, to give the proper angle of reflection. The smaller Mirror G will be found
more useful in connection with the above. It is advisable to have a little warm (not hot) water at hand,
to moisten the Mirror, but this should be done as speedily as possible, and the Mirror wiped. By re-
moving the wire stem and ivory mouth-piece A, substituting the wire and handle F, and using the lens
D (2g focus), an excellent Ophthalmoscope may be formed.

Hydrooele Trocar, in morocco case . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

FIG. 1.
It often occurs after an operation, that the Trocar is put away without being wiped dry, and the con-
sequence is, that when required again for use, it is found so rusty as to be utterly useless; the plan
of
having two separate compartments (one for the Trocar and the other for the Canula), as Fig. 1, entirely
removes these objections; the Canula may be put away without being wiped, and yet not interfere with
the
Trocar.

The band should buckle round the hips, just below the haunch bones, the reservoir passing down the
leg, to which it is attached by a strap. The valve at B prevents the return of the fluid, which, by means
of a stop-cock at D, may be ejected when required.
