Financial Services Company (Europe)

Application: Financial Services Accedian Solutions: VeloCITY and Vision EMS Issue:
This leading financial services company was looking to secure last mile reporting of service quality and bandwidth utilization for its service offering. They reached a point in their network services where they wished to ensure that the instrumentation and management of the access network for their customers, therefore to provide a market leading user experience. In order to achieve this goal, in an environment where they manage their customers across multiple supplier infrastructures, they recognized that IP SLA was no longer accurate enough or granular enough for their needs to identify latency and utilization issues in a near to real time environment.
Accedian deployed its VeloCITY FS, as it is able to deliver the accuracy and granularity of measurements required by the customer. Combined with Accedians Vision EMS, this solution provided the customer with near to real-time updates for their management systems. The Accedian Plug-and-Go capabilities that were delivered when combining VeloCITY FS with Vision EMS delivered a low touch provisioning operation across a complex Layer 3 environment. Better understanding of bandwidth utilization and latency issues Faster resolution of any issues which is critical for Financial Services The customer is now able to upsell bandwidth services to their customers The customer is now able to guarantee 100 msec sampling , which is a key differentiator Initial launch with 1 minute granularity with target with objective to move to finer granularities (down to 1 second). The ability to report and graph utilization data with this level of detail will allow the customer to upsell bandwidth services to their customers. Being able to trace packet loss to bandwidth spikes will make the upsell and easy process and being able to guarantee 100ms sampling of their carrier Ethernet service is a key differentiating factor in this customers service offering.

Tier 1 Mobile Operator (Europe and LATAM)

Application: Mobile Backhaul Accedian Solutions: MetroNID GT, Vision EMS, MetroNODE 10GE Issue: In the first phase of its deployment, this Tier 1 mobile operator wanted to implement ITU-T Y.1564 Service Activation Testing. For service turn-up testing the mobile operator already had a solution in place which was based on the usage of EXFO handhelds. Since the current solution had a limited feature set, was rather complex and for field engineers, extremely time consuming, as they had to perform tests from cell-sites to the MSC sites, and stay on-site during these tests. The biggest issue was the fact that the measurement results were stored on the handhelds, with almost no export functions. Thus, this solution did not allow for easy central test result storage. How Accedian solved the problem: Tests are now configured and initiated from Accedians Vision SP with pre -configured Accedian MetroNID GTs. The main use case is to be able to test multiple Layer 3 one-way reverse flows. This needs Accedian Vision SP to coordinate and ITU-T Y.1564 to support up to 8 flows. This has greatly streamlined the existing process and provided centralized results required by their operations teams. Key Benefits: Intuitive centralized operations Minimal effort at cell-site (reduced operations costs) Centralized results storage with back up and restore Overall more streamlined process and faster service turn-up Accedian key advantages: Automated provisioning and centralized operation integrated with Accedian Vision EMS 8 simultaneous flows individually configured for each site Automated reverse path

Tier 1 Mobile Operator (Europe)

Application: Mobile Backhaul Accedian Solution: V-NID (14000 sessions) Issue: This Tier 1 Nordic operator deploys and runs the Mobile Backhaul network as a separate business entity. This entity sells the backhaul capacity back to an internal sister company and to a mobile competitor. To safeguard this RAN sharing, and be able to provide SLA guarantees, this mobile operator monitors all radio sites 24/7. How Accedian solved the problem: Deployed the Accedian V-NID solution at each RNC site, interoperating with MRV switches at each cell site (TWAMP & L2 responders ) With the Accedian V-NID system. The radio site reflectors are integrated into the MRV OS-9xx series site switches, this integration was done by MRV upon request from the mobile operator. The Accedian V-NIDs built-in alarms are used to provide thresholds, for reporting the V-NID XML interface has been integrated into IBM Proviso. Key Benefits: Full visibility of network performance Accedian key advantages: L2 and L3 performance monitoring Granular PMs facilitate trouble shooting Full interoperability with MRV switch Ease of integration with IBM proviso (leveraging built-in xml interface)
