The Promise Book
(How to Pray the Promises of God)
Introduction
This booklet is offered to present you a selection of passages from the
Word of God on many important topics. The quotations are drawn from
the King James Version of the Bible. We hope that this Promise Book
will help you to understand God’s Word as it applies to your daily life.
The use of God’s “promises” in the Saint’s Prayer is as old as the
practice of prayer. GOD has made promises to the race of man for: A) the
instruction of the worshiper, B) the comfort of the wanderer, and C)
the calling of the workman. To rely upon the “promises” of a
SOVEREIGN GOD is to enter into a wise practice with the hope of HIS
best reward. This type of prayer is not as is done by many in this
modern-day’s “super-spiritual” movements. That is; it is not
“commanding” GOD to obey our request. This type of prayer is simply relying upon what
HE has already promised in HIS word to meet your present needs.
There are many things that we may be sure of. These matters are all, in respective order, of great
importance. God’s Promises are:
I- Unfailing (“Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he
promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of
Moses his servant.” 1 Kings 8:56)
II- Assured by Divine Ability (“And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also
to perform.” Rom. 4:21)
III- Grounded in CHRIST (“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the
glory of God by us. 2 Cor. 1:20)
IV- Infinite in Value (“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust.” 2 Peter 1:4)
V- Culminated in everlasting life (“And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.”
1 John 2:25)
O! thou in whose presence my soul takes delight
On whom in affliction I call,
My Comfort by day and my song in the night,
My hope, my salvation, My all!
—È—
Restore, my dear SAVIOR, the light of thy face,
Thy soul-cheering comfort impart;
And let the sweet tokens of pardoning grace
Bring joy to my desolate heart

The Theology of Prayer and the Promises of God
God has secured, to the believer, Promises in the Word of God on many important topics. I hope that
this Promise Book will help you to understand God’s Word as it applies to your daily life.
The use of God’s “promises” in the Saint’s Prayer is as old as the practice of prayer. GOD has made
promises to the race of man for: A) the instruction of the worshiper, B) the comfort of the wanderer,
and C) the calling of the workman. To rely upon the “promises” of a SOVEREIGN GOD is to enter into
a wise practice with the hope of HIS best reward. This type of prayer is not as is done by many in this
modern-day’s “super-spiritual” movements. That is; it is not “commanding” GOD to obey our request. This
type of prayer is simply relying upon what HE has already promised in HIS word to meet your present needs.
There are many things that we may be sure of. These matters are, all in respective order, of great
importance; but God’s Promises are in the highest rank of stability.
I- God’s Promises are Unfailing (“Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel,
according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he
promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” 1 Kings 8:56) – This fact was observed by Joshua, a
little before his death, to which Solomon, in this passage, seems to have respect. Solomon lived to
see a greater accomplishment of the gracious promises of God, and God’s faithfulness therein, both
in the times of his father David, and his own. We must also admit that the promises of God have
failed not and are therefore the veracity of our great God -“El Shaddai” – the All-Sufficient One
(Gen. 17:1; Ex. 15:11). This is the Power of God’s Promises in our lives.
II- God’s Promises are Assured by Divine Ability (“And being fully persuaded that, what he had
promised, he was able also to perform.” Rom. 4:21) – In this passage, the apostle observes that
Abraham was certain that God not only could, but would do what he promised. This becomes a
description of true faith. This was not the only time in which Abraham displayed this confidence.
His faith was equally unquestioning and strong when he was commanded to sacrifice his promised
son, (Heb. 11:19). This is the Persuasion of God’s Promises in our lives.
III- God’s Promises are Grounded in CHRIST (“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him
Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 2 Cor. 1:20) – The basis of God’s promises is ever in the
Saviour. The reason is, that God always manifested that; and that as none of His promises failed,
the Apostle felt himself sacredly bound to imitate him. The promises of God which are made through
Christ, relate to the pardon of sin to the penitent, the sanctification of his people, support in
temptation and trial, guidance in perplexity, peace in death, and eternal glory beyond the grave.
All of these are made through the person of the Redeemer, and none of these shall fail. This is the
Person of God’s Promises in our lives.
IV- God’s Promises are Infinite in Value (“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious
promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that
is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4) – An explanation of this sentence declares the causes of
such great benefits, that is, God and his free promise, from which all these benefits proceed, I say,
these most excellent benefits, by which we are delivered from the corruption of this world, (that is,
from the wicked lusts which we carry about in us) and are made like God himself. (By the divine
nature the apostle means not the substance of the Godhead, but the partaking of those attributes, by
which the image of God is restored in us). A promise from God is an assurance on the part of God
of some good for which we are dependent on Him. This is the Prize of God’s Promises in our lives.
V- God’s Promises are Culminated in everlasting life (“And this is the promise that he hath promised
us, even eternal life.” 1 John 2:25) – Eternal life shall be the permanent consummation of abiding
in the Son and in the Father (1 John 2:24). Under this promise, the greatness of this life is
immeasurable, the worth of this life is inestimable; the joys of this life are innumerable, the duration
of it is interminable. This is the Permanency of God’s Promises in our lives.

4
Buoyed up on these truths about the Promises of God, we must secure these guarantees of His blessed
help and pray with this confidence. These promises lead us to expect God to answer prayer! Many of these
promises have been compiled here for your help in prayer and Bible study. Someone said that there are in
excess of 30,000 promises in the Word of God – This may be so, but there is one for your need and our need
is common to our Lord’s promises. (“Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Gal. 6:2).

God’s Promises Concerning Anger:

“A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” (Prov. 15:1)
“Let not the sun go down on your wrath:” (Eph. 4:26)
“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.” (Prov.
14:29)
“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.”
(Prov. 16:32)
“The simple believes every word: but the prudent man looks well to his going. A wise man fears, and
departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.” (Prov. 14:15-16)
“Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut
off: but those that wait on the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.” (Psa. 37:8-9)
“Why, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath
of man works not the righteousness of God.” (James 1:19-20)
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you forgive
not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matt. 6:14-15)
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is
mine; I will repay, said the Lord. Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him
drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome
evil with good.” (Rom. 12:19-21)
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice: And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ’s sake has forgiven you.” (Eph. 4:31-32)
“But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your
mouth.” (Col. 3:8-10)
“Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go: Lest you learn his
ways, and get a snare to your soul.” (Prov. 22:24-25)
“An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.” (Prov. 29:22)
“You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You shall not kill; and whoever shall kill shall be
in danger of the judgment: But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause
shall be in danger of the judgment:” (Matt. 5:21-22)
“Say not you, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save you.” (Prov. 20:22)
“Speak not evil one of another, brothers. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother,
speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law,

6
but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who are you that judge
another?” (James 4:11-12)
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?
till seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times
seven.” (Matt.18:21-22)
“And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that your Father also which is in
heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which
is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark. 11:25-26)
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of
mind, meekness, long-suffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have
a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you.” (Col. 3:12-13)
“Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be pitiful, be
courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that
you are thereunto called, that you should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good
days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil,
and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and
his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” (1 Peter 3:8-
12)

God’s Promise to the Afflicted:

"Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:" (Job 11:16)

God’s Promise for Brighter Days:

"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy
cometh in the morning." (Psa. 30:5)

God’s Promise for Comfort in God's Presence:

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not
overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame
kindle upon thee." (Isa. 43:2)

God’s Promises Concerning Death:

“Why, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed on all men, for
that all have sinned:” (Rom. 5:12)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give to them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave
them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.” ( John
10:27-30)
“Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me;
your rod and your staff they comfort me.” (Psa. 23:4)
“It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all
men; and the living will lay it to his heart.” (Eccl. 7:2)
“And another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said
to him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.” (Matt. 8:21-22)
“Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal
shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is

7
swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of
death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:51-57)
“Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy
shall be on their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Isa. 51:11
“Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will
help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isa. 41:10)
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow,
nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Rev. 21:4)
“He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall he not
break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth.” (Isa. 43:2-3)
“For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither
does God respect any person: yet does he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.”
(2 Sam. 14:14)
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Why we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according
to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.” (2 Cor. 5:8-10)
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the
eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed
into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest
which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we
are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb. 4:13-16)
“There be many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift you up the light of your countenance
on us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine
increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in
safety.” (Psa. 4:6-8)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart
be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
“Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may
be also.” (John 14:1-4)
“Jesus answered them, Do you now believe? Behold, the hour comes, yes, is now come, that you shall
be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the
Father is with me. These things I have spoken to you, that in me you might have peace.” (John 16:31-
33)
“And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and you know in all your hearts and in all
your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke
concerning you; all are come to pass to you, and not one thing has failed thereof.” (Josh. 23:14)
“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil. 4:8)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he
that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten

8
Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)
“But you are he that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was on my mother’s
breasts.” (Psa. 22:29)
“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and
the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has spoken it.” (Isa.
25:8)

God’s Promise for Deliverance:

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all
his bones: not one of them is broken.” (Psa. 34:19-20)

God’s Promises for Depression:

“For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes
in the morning.” (Psa. 30:5)
“The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near
to them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.” (Psa. 34:17-18)
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing
happened to you: But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his
glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.” (1 Peter 4:12-13)
“Have you not known? have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends
of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He gives power
to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall
walk, and not faint.” (Isa. 40:28-31)
“He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.” (Psa. 147:3)
“Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for
whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy to our LORD: neither be you sorry; for the joy of the
LORD is your strength.” (Neh. 8:10)
“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his
own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifies. Who is he that
comdemns? It is Christ that died, yes rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation,
or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For your sake
we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. No, in all these things we
are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor
depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 8:31-39)

your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior: I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for
you.” (Isa. 43:1-3)

46:1-3)

dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. I
will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and
lay no famine on you. And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you
shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. Then shall you remember your own
evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your

10
iniquities and for your abominations. Not for your sakes do I this, said the Lord GOD, be it known
to you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. Thus said the Lord GOD;
In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the
cities, and the wastes shall be built. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in
the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the
garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places,
and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus said the Lord

(John 14:12-14)
“But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for
I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the

through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.” (Isa. 43:1-3)

couch into the middle before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said to him, Man, your sins are
forgiven you.” (Luke 5:18-20)
“And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and
touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall

your faith has made you whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Matt. 9:20-22)
“And Jesus answering said to them, Have faith in God. For truly I say to you, That whoever shall say to

I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that you should
come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under
authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come,
and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. Then Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said
to them that followed, Truly I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say
to you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac,
and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer
darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said to the centurion, Go your
way; and as you have believed, so be it done to you. And his servant was healed in the selfsame
hour.” (Matt. 8:5-13)

word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens,

brawler, not covetous; One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all
gravity; For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of
God?” (1 Tim. 3:2-5)

“And we beseech you, brothers, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and
admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among
yourselves. Now we exhort you, brothers, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded,

follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” (1 Thes. 5:12-15)

God’s Promises on Spiritual Growth:

“And when he had called the people to him with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever will come
after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever will save his life
shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For
what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a
man give in exchange for his soul? Whoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in
this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes
in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:34-38)

something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then
shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.” (Gal. 6:2-5)

2:22-26)
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your
mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this,
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”
(Mark 12:30-31)
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield
you your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin: but yield yourselves to God, as those
that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” (Rom. 6:12-
13)
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known to all men. The

thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:4-7)
“My brothers, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that

faith.” (Gal. 6:9-10)
“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being
many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing
according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the
proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; Or
he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with
diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Rom. 12:4-8)
“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just,

20
whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which you have both

“He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.”
(Prov. 28:13)

is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor.
10:12-13)
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he
that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can
add one cubit to his stature?” (Matt. 6:27)
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the
earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the middle of the sea; Though the waters
thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.” (Psa.
27:14)
“Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall
be a light to me. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my
enemies.” (Mic. 7:8)

any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2 Cor. 1:3-4)

10:4)
