In an environment that values a quick fix over education and learning, Jaime "Kemo" Escalante is a new teacher at Garfield High School determined to change the system and challenge the students to a higher level of achievement. Leaving a steady job for a position as a math teacher in a school where rebellion runs high and teachers are more focused on discipline than academics, Escalante is at first not well liked by students, receiving numerous taunts and threats. The teacher Jaime Escalante had to make them change their attitude and demanded heavy sacrifices. Aim to get despite the serious health risks because of overwork that was submitted. Dynamics came to challenge mediocre teachers and school authorities Garfield, cynically pointed him causing false expectations on students, assured him that it would be a few frustrated because, they argued, would not reach such goals, that was no place for Latinos. The teacher introduced students to a dynamic discipline, responsibility, enthusiasm, vision, courage, high-mindedness.

At first, the teacher (Jaime Escalante) entry to the classroom and introduce himself at students and he ask for people that dont know the target language, them he try to explain the students by this method learn the importance of interaction between student initiation given them orders to use commands like (book in chapter 2, page 26) which describes how to use the book and provides details in order to learn Calculus. Professor Jaime Escalante uses this method of repetition, (a negative times a negative equal a positive) that the student need has a positive reinforcement and the teacher use this to apply the repetition technique with Audio-lingual method. The students practice commands with compound object, Mr.Escalante uses an apple to try to explain the students the subject in order to the students exppress their answer to his commands and the teacher accepts their commands to know the pronunciation and repetition like (everybody look at the blackboard) of each student in the classroom The teacher says to his student stand ups and go to the wall a simple technique used by Total Physical Response (TPR) that gives commans by the teacher. With TPR students use physical and mental energy in a productive way, besides facility the development of language and social skills like cooperation, competing, and listenning comprehension following rules, students try to answer or response the commands through the movements of the body or action, because the students have to do everything that the teacher told them to handle the complete situation inside the classroom and know what they think each. Because he wants to students students learn complex theorems and formulas which his students can eventually take Advanced Placement Calculus by their senior year, which will give them college credit. This intense math program requires that students take summer classes, including Saturdays from 7:00 AM to noon, taxing for even the most devoted among them.

Those methods are presented in the movie and the teacher has to follow a procedure in the classroom to keep the students interested have fun in a nostressful situation. However, with the silent way method the student expressed the spirit of a culture, they develop his pronunciation and intonation by their own criteria to the commands given by the teacher. At other times, the teacher took the students to observe and learn calculus working; with the idea of having more clearly what they are teaching and are more motivated to past any test about calculus.
