OR 13. b) i)In a public telephone booth, the arrivals on an average are 15 per hour. A call on an average takes three minutes. If there is just one phone find 1) the expected number of callers in the booth at any time and (2) the proportion of time, the booth is expected to be idle? ii)A super market has two girls ringing up sales at the customers. If the service time for each customer is exponential with mean four minutes and if people arrive in a Poisson fashion at the counter, at the rate of 10 per hour, then calculate (1) The probability of having to wait for service. (2) The expected percentage of idle time for each girl.
