Disaster preparedness planning

Training of volunteers:
There should be training for volunteers on disaster management so that they could be helpful during the disaster. Committee formation: At community level there should be male and female committees where should discus and identify the disaster occurrence chances and prepare the people for it. In case of any disaster they should give guideline to the people further they should identify the vulnerable people and try to identify possible assistant for them. Formation of fund for any disaster: Formation of emergency fund for disaster where at community level people contribute some money monthly and in case of any disaster that fund should be used and in this way community ownership and sense of self help will increase. Encouragement of local level resources saving: For disaster preparedness people should be encouraged to save their resources so that if case of an emergency they should have that much resources cope with situation and could survive before relief arrives. Announcement centers: Announcement centers like mosques and distress signal arrangement should be identified and people should be given an orientation on importance of these alarming systems. And in case of display of these systems what measures people take they should be oriented. Tents, boat and other equipment arrangement: Precautionary measures for disaster should be taken like in case of flood targeted areas people should have boats and

alternatives of it in case of flood least they should reduce live losses and insure security of fool and clothing etc. People should be encouraged to arrange tents incase of earthquake hit areas incase of disaster they could survive. People also should be encouraged to stock shawls baaris and picka!es incase of destruction of houses people could be taken out.

First aid training and arrangement of emergency medicine: "ocal people should be trained on First Aid and proper arrangement of emergency medicine as after disaster the in#ured people need urgent medical attention and during destruction it is big problem to arrange medical team for health care. The best alternative for that is to train local people incase of disaster they are available for first aid care with basic medicine.

Geographical planning $eographical planning is very important in which community physical mapping infrastructure mapping is carried out likes where mountains rivers agricultural fields forest roads bridges and canals mentioned and what disaster risks are e!pected preplanning should be done to minimi%e the effects of disaster.

Proper construction of houses:

&ouses should be constructed according to mapping and geographic of that area and which kind of disaster threats they have following that houses must be constructed in that manner. 'ecause of no proper construction of house during the disaster they have high live loss risks. dentification of safe place for camping ( It is very important to identify safe place for camping of disaster affected people often after disaster it is difficult to identify safe place on urgent bases and unsafe places cause too many problems e.g. a. )pread of diseases b. Disposal of waste c. Arrangement of water d. Drainage of water e. )ocial security of people *tc. In safe places public buildings can also be used. !eservation of food: Food items reservation is also very important because in disaster mostly people face food shortage and it cause social clops. Food items should be properly saved and could be available during disaster so that people cope the disaster with their own resources. Area population information: Area population is very important which helps the relief organi%ations governmental and non governmental organi%ation of making relief arrangements planning for rehabilitation reconstruction+ recovery mitigation and preparedness etc in that specific area.

"easonal mapping: )easonal mapping helps us of identifying seasonal ha%ards which may cause disaster and in some seasons there are more chances for flood heavy rain may cause large scale land sliding and no persistent rain may cause drought etc. the seasonal calendar help us of identification of these e!pected disaster and in making proper planning to cope the situation.
