SPM Literature (Form 5 Poem) - Nature

The poem describes the climate and seasons of Jamaica. (1) It states that Jamaica does not experience the four traditional seasons of summer, winter, autumn and spring. (2) Instead, it has hot and rainy days with torrential downpours and strong winds. (3) The most pleasant time is when the mango and logwood trees bloom with flowers and the air is filled with the sounds of bees and scent of honey. The poem depicts the natural beauty of Jamaica through its lush canefields, colorful flowers and swaying grass.

SPM LITERATURE (FORM 5 POEM) - NATURE

We have neither Summer nor Winter Neither Autumn nor Spring. We have instead the days When the gold sun shines on the lush green canefields Magnificently. The days when the rain beats like bulllets on the roofs And there is no sound but the swish of water in the gullies And trees struggling in the high amaica winds. Also there are the days when the leaves fade from off guango trees Also the reaped canefields lie bare and fallow to the sun. !ut best of all there are the days when the mango and logwood blossom When the bushes are full of the sound of bees and the scent of honey" When tall grass sways and shivers to the slightest breath of air" When the buttercups have paved the earth with yellow stars And beauty comes suddenly and the rains have gone.
