What Is MSRN? in Which Type of Call It

The document contains 20 questions related to mobile network architecture and components: 1. MSRN is a temporary number assigned to route mobile terminated calls to the target MSC. 2. MSC/MSC-S performs call setup for on-net and off-net calls by querying HLR and other nodes for routing. 3. Triplets refer to the combination of MCC, MNC and LAC which uniquely identify a location area in a mobile network. The questions cover functionalities of various nodes like HLR, MSC, BSC, MGW; configuration and interfaces of signaling terminals, boards and processors; capacity and interfaces of transmission links.

Questions

1. What is MSRN? In which type of call it is been used?

The Mobile Station Roaming Number is an E.164 defined telephone number
used to route telephone calls in a mobile network from a GMSC (Gateway Mobile
Switching Centre) to the target MSC .
The Mobile Station Roaming Number is an E.164 defined telephone number used to
route telephone calls in a mobile network from a GMSC (Gateway Mobile Switching
Centre) to the target MSC (see Network Switching Subsystem). It can also be defined
as a directory number temporarily assigned to a mobile for a mobile terminated call.
A MSRN is assigned for every mobile terminated call, not only the calls where the
terminating MS lives on a different MSC than the originating MS.

2. What are the functionalities in the MSC/MSC-S node? Explain the clearly the call
setup procedure for a call between:
a) Tigo to Tigo.
b) Tigo to any other local operator.

3. What are triplets?

4. What are the functionalities available in HLR? Giving the command HGSDP(see
ALEX) briefly explain the function of each:
a) PERMANENT SUBSCRIBER DATA
b) SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE DATA
c) LOCATION DATA
d) PACKET DATA PROTOCOL CONTEXT DATA
