The Economical Pigging Program

The importance of a pigging operation:
Production pipelines are at high risk of internal corrosion and failure due to the build up of corrosive deposits. Inevitably, these deposits lead to accelerated localized corrosion and premature failure (down time, high cost of repair and environmental damage and clean-up). This risk can be substantially reduced with the implementation of an aggressive pigging program. The consequences of a pipeline corrosion failure make a customized pigging program a very attractive and cost effective necessity.

MeridianTM Pigs

One-Piece Molded Pigs:

Made of urethane, these pigs are durable and manufactured in a variety of standard or customized styles, and can be used for: Liquid removal and general cleaning Removal of medium to hard wax deposits, asphaltines or sand Chemical batch inhibitor application Negotiating side-branch laterals, long radius bends and Bridging valves Varying pipe diameters

Spherical Pigs:
Commonly called pig balls, these are less effective for pipeline cleaning, but can be used for: Liquid displacement Hydrostatic testing For more detailed information on pig styles for specific applications, contact the Meridian Technical Sales department.
