Vol-1 - What Is JJAP PDF

The Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) has been publishing research in applied physics since 1962. It is widely circulated internationally, with over 50 countries represented. JJAP covers diverse areas of technology and physics, and also promotes interdisciplinary research. A new section, Express Letters, allows for rapid publication of important new findings within 45 days. JJAP is available both online and in print, and provides links to other physics journals online. It publishes regular papers as well as special issues, and the number of published papers and pages has grown substantially since its inception.

Japanese Journal of
Applied Physics
What is JJAP?
The Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP)
has been publishing crucial information on
advanced research topics in applied physics
since 1962. JJAP has grown as an international
journal and is currently widely circulated in
more than 50 countries around the world. The
citation rate for published papers is ranked
high among international journals in the field of
applied physics. JJAP covers not only all
aspects of modern technology, such as semicon-
ductor devices, high-temperature superconduc-
tors, and magnetic recordings, but it also
covers diverse areas such as plasma physics
and particle accelerators. Articles in the inter-
disciplinary areas with potential technological
implications are strongly promoted.
NEWS
JJAP Express Letters keeps you right
up-to-date with all the latest research
in Applied Physics
Since our new section, Express Letters, was
introduced in April 1998 in JJAP Part 2, we
have attracted numbers of articles containing
important new data and we have created a
rapid-response publication system* which
guarantees publication in no more than 45
days. (*from the date of receipt to the date of
publication.)
In 1998, the average publishing period was in
fact even faster, just 37 days.
Papers in the Express Letters section are re-
viewed in consideration of the following: If the
paper deserves urgent publication, written in
correct standard English, scholarly and well
structured. Papers accepted, pass immediately
on to the production stage, to be published in
the earliest issue of JJAP Part 2: Full text of all
Express Letters are also published in the JJAP
Online.

JJAP Online
JJAP Online is the online version of JJAP Parts 1 and 2.
We are demonstrating a full text version of Part 1 (excl.
special issues) and Part 2 in PDF format, and all papers'
abstracts in HTML format. The full text of Part 2 in HTML
format has been published since June 1999.
In addition, references are provided on each abstract
page, which have a hyperlink to JJAP articles available
in JJAP Online and in other major journals. This demon-
stration version is currently free of charge.
Archives
Browsable titles and abstracts are available from Vol. 33
(1994) Jan. to the curreent issue. The full text of letter
articles in PDF format are available from Vol. 37 (1998)
Jan. (registration required).
Search
Keys for searching articles can be taken from titles,
authors, abstracts and keywords.
Registration
Register your personal information to activate an
account. This is necessary to browse the full text of
articles (free of charge).
Hyperlinks
JJAP Online has started mutual reference linking with
APS, AIP and IOPP. Since May 1999, JJAP Online has
hyperlinks to journals; J. Appl. Phys.; Appl. Phys. Lett.;
Phys. Rev. A to E; Phys. Rev. Lett.; J. Opt. Soc. Am. A &
B; Opt. Lett. and J. Phys. Soc. Jpn.
Notes
You will find hyperlinks only to articles available online.
Requirements for access to hyperlinks depends on the
rules of individual journals.
Free Access Service to
JJAP Individual Subscribers
A free access service to the SPIN database (Searchable
Physics Information Notices) is available. SPIN is a
bibliographic database of the most current abstracts
from over 80 journals published by the American
Institute of Physics. By accessing this service, you will get
the benefit of JJAP Online and the SPIN Database.

Part 1 (monthly) -Regular Papers, Short Notes
and Review Papers
Besides regular papers and short notes, Part 1 includes review papers for the
subjects of recent interest in applied physics, authored by leading scientists.
Publication usually takes place five months after papers are received. In
addition, several special issues are published each year. These contain
monographs published at international conferences, and up-to-date findings
by research groups. (List of special issues is availabe at http://
wwwsoc.nacsis.ac.jp/jjap)
Part 2 (bimonthly) Letters and Express Letters
This section is intended for the rapid dissemination of important new research
results. Publication following the receipt of a paper usually takes place within
90 days for Letters and 45 days for Express Letters. According to data
obtained from the SCI Journal Citation Reports 1997 (ISI, Inc.), the impact
factor of Part 2 is ranked 6th out of 62 journals in the field of applied physics.
Part 2 can be purchased separately.
