Foundry Type Fonts of German Type Foundries
at the End of the Nazi Era The 6th edition of the Book "Das Buch des Setzers" by Fritz Genzmer, published in 1948 (the first edition of which was published during the Nazi era in 1936), includes a useful overview of the hand composition type faces by German type foundries at the end of World War II. Since typeface specimens are not copyrightable, we reproduce the specimens contained in Genzmer's book. Many of these foundry type fonts shown in this following overview are not available today as digital fonts. The overview includes the typefaces made by the following type foundries: 1.
