CHOUTEAU PARK
Forest Park Southeast
Neighborhood Park Plan

August 2006, H3 Studio completed

a neighborhood park for the Forest
Park Southeast Neighborhood. This
plan was prepared for the City of
Saint Louis Parks Department to
identify a site in the Forest Park
Southeast Neighborhood for the
development of the new parkpark. The
site was identified on the north
4300-block of Chouteau Avenue,
between Newstead and Tower
Grove Avenues
Avenues.

CHOUTEAU PARK
Design Objectives
• “The park should be unique;
it should be unlike other typical
neighborhood parks”

• Grade the site in a creative

way that opens the park to the
neighborhood, creates a clear
identity for the neighborhood
and screens the highway

• Provide a natural
amphitheater integrated into
site topography for community
gatherings

• Provide an active
playscape/playground for
children that includes a water
spray feature

• Provide a level multi-purpose

space for special events and
informal recreation
CHOUTEAU PARK
Design Objectives
• Well-lighted areas to sit,
gather, wander or picnic

• Provide a trail circuit for

walking/exercise

• Consider the option of a

permanent food vendor or
restaurant

• Provide display space for

public art integrated into
landforms or park features

• Develop a plan that can be

implemented in phases as
additional funds become
available
