8/23/07-10/18/07 Always With Us We think of you all the time, Emotions still running on high.
Its been six years, Since you went into the sky. A lot has changed in our lives since then, But with us you still remain. Our own personal beacon of hope, Guiding us through this game. Our memories of you will never fade, The good, the bad, we treasure them all. Wherever we go, there you are, Standing by us, though not very tall. And when we go to sleep tonight, Our eyes will flood with tears. But we know youll visit us in our dreams, And protect us from our fears. For today is only another day, No different from the rest. Youll still be here with us tomorrow, Our Angel, you are the best!
Love you and miss you Anna! Hugs and Kisses Mom, Dad, Cody and Colten

Wheel on over to Crossings for Pumpkin Madness during fall school break
ZUMBROTA What to do over the fall school break that starts Thursday, October 17? Spend it artfully at Crossings! Youth can choose from two classes or take them both! Pumpkin Madness, is Thursday and Friday, October 17-18, 10 a.m. to noon for ages six and up. Roll it out, cut your designs, add a vine and leaves and all your spookiness and then finish it off with glaze and a candle! Guaranteed to be fired and ready to pick up by October 25. Just in time for your porch, table or window sill. This is a great parent/child activity. Cost is $48; add a second family member for just $40. Or, try your hand at the potters wheel at Wheel Over Break, Thursday - Saturday, October 17-19, plus Saturday, October 26. The class is 1-3:30 p.m. each day. This class is for those in grades four through adults. Turn a lump of clay into a work of art! Learn how to prepare clay (wedging), center and form shapes on a professionalgrade pottery wheel, and trim and finish your pieces with colorful glaze. Wheel class is $119, or $219 for two family members. Another opportunity for creativity with a high dose of fun is Sunday, October 20. Ages 8 and up are welcome at two classes: Introduction to Polymer Clay Beads and Buttons, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Sun Sculptures in Polymer Clay, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. At Beads and Buttons, students will learn to create pictures or patterns in clay that can be compressed down into amazingly detailed beads and buttons. Then in the afternoon, instructor Layl McDill will add some glitter to the mix, showing students how to create their own millefiore to add into the rays of the shimmering sun sculptures theyll make. Beads and Buttons, is $26 plus a $5 materials fee, and Sun Sculptures, is $49 plus a $10 materials fee. However, those who take both classes save $11. For more information or to register, call 507-732-7616 or stop in to Crossings at 320 East Ave., Zumbrota. Or, go to www.crossingsatcarnegie.com.

MnDOT asks motorists, farm equipment operators to share the road during harvest
Motorists traveling on Minnesota highways this fall need to be aware of large farm equipment transporting crops to markets, grain elevators and processing plants, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Harvest season is in full swing and farmers in every corner of the state are out using the highways, said Sue Groth, state traffic engineer. Motorists need to be prepared to encounter slow-moving farm vehicles, especially on rural, two-lane roads. Farm equipment is large and heavy, making it hard for operators to accelerate, slow down and stop. The machines also make wide turns and sometimes cross over the center line. In addition, farm vehicles can create large blind spots, making it difficult for operators to see approaching vehicles. All of these factors can cause serious crashes. Between 2010 and 2012, 377 traffic crashes took place on Minnesota roads involving at least one farm vehicle, resulting in 13 fatalities and 211 injuries. Of the 13 fatalities, six were farm vehicle riders; of the 211 injuries, 53 were farm vehicle riders. The biggest factors contributing to farm equipment/vehicle crashes are inattention, speeding and unsafe passing, Groth said. When approaching farm equipment, motorists should always slow down and use extreme caution. Motorists should: Watch for debris dropped by trucks hauling sugar beets and other crops. It is safer to brake or drive through debris than to veer into oncoming cars or off the road. Wait for a safe place to pass. Wear seat belts. Drive with headlights on at all times. Farm equipment operators should: Use lights and flashers to make equipment more visible. Use slow-moving vehicle emblems on equipment traveling less than 30 mph. Consider using a follow vehicle when moving equipment, especially at night.
