Bracing Connection

This document provides the design calculations for a bracing connection between two HSS members using gusset plates and welds. The connection is designed to resist axial loads of 10 kips in tension and compression in each member. The calculations show the connection members and gusset plates have sufficient strength against yielding, rupture, and buckling. The welds are designed to resist the required shear loads with an electrode strength of 70 ksi and weld size of 1/8 in.
