OPEN YOUR FILE Open the file Sem 1 2005 Assessment.xls from your exam account. This is the only file that you will use for this assessment. Do not start another new file at any time during the assessment. Save the file to H:\Data with your name as the file name.

Note: Use a variable where a reference is required for a formula. Any formula or function that contains a value will not be given a mark. Unless otherwise instructed, format all labels and values as Arial 10 pt.

Part 1: Homemade Candies

14 Marks

Your friend, who has not attended a Computer Concepts spreadsheet course, has asked for your help in finishing a spreadsheet. All the calculations need to be completed and the spreadsheet needs a more professional appearance. 1. Select the Homemade Candies Sheet. 2. Move the Title to A1, centre it across columns A to H and vertically align to the centre. Bold the Title and change the font size to 12. 3. Set the width of Column A to 15. 4. Set the height of Row 1 to 27. 5. Move the sub heading Sales to the same row as the column headings. 6. Right align the column headings and make them bold. 7. Bold the sub-headings Sales and Total Sales. 8. Delete the rows above and below the column headings, (do not delete any labels). 9. Right align and italicise the four Sales items. 10. Use a function to calculate all totals. 11. Use functions to calculate the minimum and maximum total sales. 12. Bold all values in the Total Sales row. 13. Format the Total Sales row with a top and double bottom border. 14. Format all values to show the $ symbol but no decimal places. 15. Format all labels to provide a consistent appearance. You have finished Part 1. Save your file.

Part 2: Wakefield Hardware

17 Marks

1. Select the Wakefield Hardware Sheet. Use formulas or functions to complete the calculations in the coloured cells. Cells of the same colour should contain the same formula. 2. Yellow Cells The monthly sales for each category are projected to change from month to month by the percentage increase or decrease shown in the variable area B2:D2. 3. Green Cells Calculate the totals in the Monthly Total column. 4. Rose Cells Calculate the totals in the Total Sales row. 5. Blue Cells Calculate the sales for each category as a percentage of the Monthly Total in Column E. 6. Brown Cells Calculate the three averages in dollar values. You have finished Part 2. Save your file.

Part 3: Invoice

10 Marks

1. Select the Invoice Sheet. Use formulas or functions to complete the calculations in the coloured cells. Cells of the same colour should contain the same formula. 2. Yellow Cells Use a function to calculate a discount (quantity x price x discount) if the quantity in Column C is greater than the variable in C3. If no discount is applicable, 0 should appear in this cell. The discount should be calculated using the variable of 5% in A3. 3. Green Cells Calculate Total Price of each item (price x quantity discount). Copy the function to the other green cells without changing it. 4. Blue Cell Calculate the Total. 5. Grey Cell Calculate the GST using the variable 12.5%. 6. Orange Cell Calculate the Total Invoice Price. You have finished Part 3. Save your file.

Part 4: Airedale Kitchens

27 Marks

1. Select the Airedale Kitchens Sheet. Use formulas or functions to complete the calculations in the coloured cells. Cells of the same colour should contain the same formula. 2. Bright Green Cell Use a function to enter todays date into cell A3. Format the date type to 14 March 2001. 3. Yellow Cells Calculate the Retail Price of each product based on the Mark-up%. 4. Blue Cells Calculate the Total Retail Sales Value for each product. 5. Grey Cells Calculate the Gross Profit for each product by deducting the total cost of each product from the total retail sales value of each product. 6. Rose Cells Calculate each total. 7. Green Cells If the hours worked are greater than the standard hours, calculate the number of overtime hours worked. If no overtime hours are worked, 0 should appear. 8. Brown Cells Calculate the Standard Pay. 9. Lavender Cells Calculate the Overtime Pay. 10. Sky Blue Cells Calculate the Total Pay. 11. Orange Cells Calculate the Total Wages. 12. Gold Cells Calculate the Company Profit after the Total Wages have been deducted from the total Gross Profit. You have finished Part 4. Save your file.

Part 5: Homemade Candies Chart

14 Marks

1. Create a column chart, on a separate chart sheet named Homemade Candies Chart to compare all the months sales for Hard Candy and Chocolate. 2. The X axis is to show the months and is to be titled Month. 3. The Y axis is to show the value of sales and is to be titled Dollars. 4. The Chart Title is to show the words Hard Candy and Chocolate in the first line and January June Sales 2004 in the second line. 5. Display the legend at the bottom of the chart. 6. Display the value of sales at the top of each column. 7. Scale the Y axis values to show the major unit as 250. 8. Format the plot area to show a light blue colour. You have finished Part 5. Save your file.

Part 6: Personalise your worksheets


1. Move the Chart worksheet so it is the last worksheet in the file.

2. Select all the worksheet tabs. Type your First Name and Family Name in a left aligned footer. Deselect all sheet tabs and select the Homemade Candies sheet tab. 3. Do a final save of your file. Close Excel.
