Admission Criteria
Admission to the Programme is based entirely on merit. The basic policy of the Admissions Committee of the Suleman Dawood
School of Business is to select those men and women whose intellectual capacity, research potential and personal characteristics
best qualify them to pursue academic careers in the field of management.
To be considered for a place in the PhD Programme in Management at LUMS, applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:
A Masters degree in Business Administration or a related field (e.g., industrial engineering, psychology, etc.) in high
standing. Undergraduate degree holders with 16 years of education and strong credentials will also be considered.
Test scores from one of the following standardized exams: a) GMAT; b) GRE; or c) LMAT
Interview performance
Statement of Research Purpose
Letters of recommendation
There are no age restrictions for applying to the Programme.

Interview
Applicants are pre-screened on the basis of their academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/LMAT scores, statement of research
purpose, recommendation letters, and data provided in the application form. Applicants whose documents are complete and who
qualify the pre-screening stage will be called for an interview. During the interview, the Admissions Committee tries to assess the
applicants communication skills, research potential, thinking ability, subject knowledge and level of awareness of general issues.
Final decision regarding admission will be taken after the interview.

Tuition Fee

Estimated annual expenses in connection with books, cases and reading material will be approximately Rs.40,000.
All admitted PhD students who are Pakistani nationals and who do not have external funding (e.g., HEC) for their PhD
studies will be granted a scholarship by LUMS covering their tuition fee and providing them with a monthly stipend of up to
Rs.20,000 to cover their living expenses. To be eligible for LUMS funding, candidates must have written the Graduate
Admissions Test (GAT)General for HEC scholarships administered by the National Testing Service (NTS) Pakistan.
