LAST WEEK OF TERM THREE

Its hard to believe that Term Three is drawing to a close. What an amazingly busy term we have had! Next term all year levels will be participating in planning days to collaboratively organise all of the curriculum planning for last term. As a result, our normal Specialist timetable will be altered so that children at each year have all of their Specialist classes on one selected day. The final assembly for the term will be held on Friday 20th September at around 2:00pm in the Community Hall. Please note that all children will be dismissed from the Community Hall at 2:30pm to begin their Term Three holidays.

Early Dismissal Friday 20th September 2:30pm

Our Annual School Concert will be held on Thursday 24th October at Eastbourne Primary School Hall Tickets will go on sale Monday 7th October @ $7.00 each. Please pre purchase tickets to avoid the rush on the night. The students have all been rehearsing their songs and acts during the term. A few weeks ago I placed a postponement on the song Little Talk as I had some concerns raised by parents re the lyrics and interpretation of the song. We have endeavoured to resolve the concerns looking at a variety of options but this was not possible. The objection was taken to School Council last Monday and discussed in detail. The resolution at School Council was the song will not be part of the concert. In consultation with Christine Young an adjusted program has been organised for the October concert.

To the following people who have offered help at our market on Saturday 28th September; Rachel Nevinson, Darren Walker, Leanne McLeod, Michelle Gathercole, Wendy Sharrock, Ron and Angela Blade Tootstars are rostered on however if anyone from the school community can give an hour or so that would be much appreciated as it is also AFL Grand Final day thanks!

Compulsory Hats
From the start of next term we will return to the wearing of a school approved hat. Our hat is green in colour and is designed to promote the protection of the neck and ears as well as the face. Compulsory hats are a School Council Policy, which will be strictly enforced. Children who dont wear an approved hat will be required to stay in a sheltered area during school recess times. NO BASEBALL HAT IS OR WILL BE APPROVED.

Sun Smart from September

Sun exposure in the first 15 years of life contributes significantly to a childs lifetime risk of skin cancer. To protect yourself and children you care for use a combination of 5 sun protection measures. The Outside 5 are: 1. Slip on some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible. 2. Slop on SPF30+ sunscreen - make sure it is broad spectrum and water resistant. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun. 3. Slap on a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears. 4. Seek shade. 5. Slide on some sunglasses - make sure they meet Australian Standards. Particular care should be taken between 10.00am and 2.00pm (11.00am and 3.00pm daylight savings time) when UV levels reach their peak.
