Metal Cutting Lathes: Engine Lathes, construction all arrangement and principal units of engine lathes, type and size range of engine lathes, Operations carried on engine lathe , attachment extending the processing capacities of engine lathes, Drilling Machines: Purpose and field of application of drilling machines upright drill processes, radial drills, alignment tests of drilling machine.

Milling Machines: Purpose and types of milling machines, general purpose milling machines, different types of milling operations, milling cutters, attachments extending the processing capabilities of general purpose milling machines. Alignment tests of milling machine.

Planers, Shapers and Slotters: Classification: Attachments extending the processing capacities of each.

Sawing and broaching, Machines: Metal sawing classification: reciprocating sawing machines, circular sawing 7 Machines, band sawing machines. Types of broaching machines, advantage . and limitations of broaching.

Grinding Machines and Abrasives: Classification of grinding machines, cylindrical grinders, internal grinders, 8 Surface grinders, tool and cutter grinders, grinding wheel surface finishing. . Abrasives, manufacture or grinding wheels.

Course Outcome: 1. Analyze effects of operating parameters of engines on engine efficiency, brake power and volumetric efficiency. 2. Evaluate the main parameters on carburettor and injector. 3. Investigate the effect of air fuel ratio on emission and engine power. 4. Confirm that two-stroke engine should be banned due to the high pollution. List of Experiments: 1. Study of Port timing diagram of two strokes S.I. Engine and Its Scavenging 2. Study of Supercharging and Turbo charging of I.C. Engines 3. Study of Carburettors. 4. Study of Fuel Injection System for C.I. Engines. 5. Study of Combustion chamber of S.I. Engine. 6. Study of Combustion chamber of C.I. Engine. 7. Study of Ignition system of I.C. Engines. 8. Study of Governing system of I.C. Engines. 9. Study of Emission and its control of I.C. Engines. 10. Performance of Two stroke petrol engine test rig. Major Equipments: 1. Test rig of four stroke diesel engine with hydraulic dynamometer. 2. Test rig of four stroke petrol engine with electrical dynamometer. 3.
