Presidents Message
Hafa Adai SIM Members, I am so excited to serve as the 2013-2014 SIM President!!! It is an honor to be a part of such an empowering group of women and men who unselfishly give their time and efforts to uphold the ideals to which we stand as Soroptimists. My theme for this year is Passionate About Making A Difference! PASSIONATEbecause we give our heart and soul into helping to improve the lives of women and girls in our local community and around the world. MAKING A DIFFERENCEbecause we are women at our best, helping other women to be their best. My goal is to be a passionate leader and to ignite YOUR passion so that together we will continue to make SIM a strong and positive force in the community. I have been blessed with an amazing SIM Board and there is so much that we want to accomplish. Weve already kicked off the beginning of this term with our SIM Raffle Fundraiser which will run from July through September. The raffle drawing will be held during the September Program Meeting. My first project as President is to share our Passion for Soroptimist by chartering a new club in Saipan for our CNMI neighbors. With the assistance of my charter team (PPSylvia Crafton, PPKristal Koga, PPNancy Tan, PPAileen Alfred and PPDenise Mendiola-Hertslet), weve already facilitated a few informational and organizational meetings in Saipan to recruit charter members within the islands of Saipan, Rota and Tinian. So I challenge you, my fellow Soroptimists to become involved. Not just in your donations, but to passionately share your talent and skills through extended service. We are already off to a great start by inducting 4 new members within the first quarter. I encourage everyone to continue to bring one person to a meeting each month and to live a life of service, chair an event, or participate in a committee whether it be in Programs, Fundraising, Public Awareness, or Membership. Thank you for your confidence in me to serve as President. I look forward to an exciting year! Jessica Castro, 2013-2014 SIM President
