Death Is inevitable!

Leaders who are not prepared to die for what they believe in are NOT worth following!
Haman devises a plan to have the Jewish people killed and for Mordecai to be hanged on the gallows for his disobedience to the kings decree. Mordecai in hearing what Hamans plans were does what every great leader does. They call on the name of the Lord! Added to that, he sends information to Esther telling what Hamans plans are. As a leader you must never feel so insecure that you are unable to seek help from people who are in a position to help you. Pastor, you must relate to other ministries, to share not only the successes of ministry, but also the struggles you face so that they who are strong can help those who weak and who come under attack from the enemy. So you have a dream to have a great international ministry that will impact thousands? Then learn how to influence key leaders in your community and those you lead. To be known you must be known for something! There are many itinerant preachers criss-crossing the globe, but not really known in their local communities except to the Churches they go and preach in. You could well say that a prophet is never accepted in his own town. Then why plant a church in that town or city if you never expect to make a difference? In the book of Esther I have found leadership attitudes or skills that needs to be seen in todays current leadership. If ever the Church is going to impact communities, then leaders or potential leaders must understand that it requires more than a title, but a vision for change and the courage to implement it as God instructs. These truths are basic yet a much needed reminder of what true Godly leadership is.

When you understand Holy Spirit leadership, you will stand before kings and will remain influential in determining your community or nations future.
The first person to consider is the young girl Esther, whose Jewish name is Hadassah (a myrtle tree) or pleasant fragrance. She starts out as an unknown who has no particular record of success in anything. She is a virgin. She with many other young girls were taken into the courts of the king to be groomed for the position of queen. Leadership requires a purity of heart! Too many want the position or title but ultimately their motives are not pure. The Bible says that, blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Have a purity in what you are doing, in who you select for leadership, and in pursuing a particular project Esther was taken through a beautification process that lasted one year. This time of preparation was required before she was able to meet the king. Her value or worth was not in the perfumes or high life that she had come into, but where she had come from. Your rise to prominence is never going to happen overnight! It requires a time of preparation, developing the spiritual skills required to impact those you meet. Your value is never going to be in the title or position. You must remember where you were taken out of and who anointed you for service. You must produce a sweet smelling fragrance to a world who are disgusted by the stench that comes from many Churches or believers. While Esther was in a rather good situation, her family and Jewish people were facing crisis. She instructed Mordecai to call the people to pray and fast. She knew that only God could intervene and rescue them from the hands of Haman whose intention was to kill every Jewish man, women, and child. You will do well as a leader to know what to do in times of crisis. Your charisma, good looks, even your great preaching cannot give you the miracle you need. Spend time in His presence with prayer and fasting. Seeking His face, trusting Him for wisdom and knowledge and you will see how He leads you into victory. To help her people, Esther had to speak to the king, but only if she had found favour with him. She showed great humility in doing what she did knowing that if she had not found favour with the king that she could surely be put to death. To have favour in ministry you need favour from king Jesus. This favour can never be assumed or bought. Too few leaders are NOT prepared to face persecution, even death, in their pursuit of doing Gods will. Todays leaders seek a title, a position, or popularity, but never death. You cannot be a great leader if you are not willing to die for what you believe in! Effective leaders stand confidently before those in high positions. They are not cocky, arrogant, or demanding. Esther simply put in her request to the king. Great leaders dont get results by shouting or demanding.

In Mordecai too was Godly leadership attitudes worth noting. He is not only concerned for his cousin, but for the whole tribe of Benjamin. He too is an unknown in the nation except for those he helped while sitting at the gate giving advise and counsel. Even though he identifies two men who plotted to kill the king, his name is quickly forgotten. In leadership you must have a passion and compassion for all people, not just the ones you prefer or get on with. Great leaders know whats happening in their local community. Instead of trying to build a ministry, invest in the people who lead your community and its members. When the people had to bow to Haman each time he appeared, Mordecai was unfazed by the threats of death knowing that the God in heaven alone was to be worshiped and honored in that way.
