The Indian Maritime University, a pioneering, young and fresh University, encompassing well known legacy institutions pan India, was established through an Act of Parliament on 14th November, 2008 as a Central University. IMUs mission is to play a key role in Indias growth story through the development of the Indian Maritime and related Logistics and Supply Chain, and Infrastructure sectors. The primary objective of the IMU is to promote advanced knowledge through facilitation of maritime studies, training, research and extension work with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, transportation, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these. IMU will do this by providing institutional and research facilities to promote the philosophy of interdisciplinary work, innovations in the teaching-learning process and policy advocacy. QUALIFICATION & OTHER DETAILS Scale of Pay Age Limit Educational and Other Qualifications PROFESSOR Pay Band (IV) of Rs.37400 67000 with AGP : Rs.10,000/Age not above 50-years ( relaxable by Vice Chancellor in deserving cases) An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research, with ten years of experience in postgraduate teaching, and/or experience in research at university/national level institutions, including experience in guiding research at doctoral level (or) Associate Professor completing three years of service in the AGP of Rs 9000 and possessing a Ph.D. Degree in relevant discipline. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR Pay Band (IV) of Rs.37400 67000 with AGP : Rs.9,000/Age not above 45-years (relaxable by Vice Chancellor in deserving cases) (i) Good academic record with doctoral degree or an equivalent published work. (ii) A Masters degree with at least 55% marks (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/PWD candidates ) (or) Its equivalent grade of B at seven point scale of O, A, B, C, D, E & F (iii) Five Years of teaching and / or research experience excluding the period spent on acquiring doctoral degree (or) Three years teaching experience as Assistant Professor in AGP of Rs. 8000. Preferences: (i) With Ph.D (ii) Teaching Experience (iii) Publications in refereed journals and/or books and/or sector magazines (iv) Candidates with multi-disciplinary interest and qualification and/or who can handle more than one subject. Note: (i) Career advancement is subject to the rules and regulations of IMU which may vary from time to time. (ii) Candidate may indicate the preference for the place of initial posting. However, the right of posting depends on the requirement of the IMU (iii) Faculty are transferable anywhere in India in existing IMU campuses or new campuses that may be set up in future.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 A relaxation of 5% in marks will be provided at the Master's level for the SC/ST candidates for the purpose of eligibility. Age relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST 05 years, OBC 03 years and Person with Disabilities --- General 05 years, SC/ST 10 years, OBC 08 years will be applicable. Candidates claiming benefits under the Person with Disabilities, SC, ST, OBC category should enclose medical/caste/non-creamy layer certificate, as applicable, from authorized Government authority, without which the application will be treated as 'general (unreserved)'. A relaxation of 5% in marks will be provided at the Masters Level for the Ph.D. degree holders, who have passed their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading systems is followed by a recognized university shall also be considered eligible. Internal candidates may also apply. IMU reserves the rights to consider candidates by invitation. IMU reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications, experience, etc, in deserving cases in respect of any post. The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D. shall not be considered as research experience. IMU may offer a lower post to a candidate even though he has applied for a higher post. The prescribed qualification and experience are minimum requirements and the fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview or being selected. IMU reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed, as decided by the Screening Committee/s. Call letters for attending interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates. Selection will be made on the basis of candidates previous record and their performance in the interview. The IMU may utilize seminar/colloquium and/or any other mode as a method of selection. Age, Experience and Qualification will be reckoned as on 15.10.2012. Candidates should enclose self-attested copies of certificates, in support of age, community, educational qualification, experience etc. Candidates already in service must submit their applications (hard copy/print out) through proper channel.
