The end of support for SAP GUI for Java 7.30 is not determined, yet. In general a given combination of operating system and SAP GUI release is supported as long as both the operating system AND the SAP GUI release is supported. Clients can also be used to access SAP via Citrix XenApp (Citrix Presentation Server) or Microsoft Terminal Services (on Windows).

End of support for SAP GUI for Java 7.20


On 31st of January 2013 support for SAP GUI for Java 7.20 ended. Please upgrade to SAP GUI for Java 7.30.

End of support for SAP GUI for Java on AIX and Solaris
Due to the decreasing importance of these operating systems for client with release 7.30 of SAP GUI for Java SAP no longer provides SAP GUI for Java versions for AIX and Solaris platforms. We recommend using either OS X, Linux or Windows as frontend platforms.

Support for Ubuntu releases

SAP GUI for Java is officially tested and release for "LT S" (Long T erm Support) releases of Ubuntu. It may also work with intermediate releases, but SAP does not perform official testing on these releases. You may use SAP GUI for Java on these releases, but in case an issue only occurs on such a release SAP may request you to install a supported version of Ubuntu to solve the issue.

De-Support information for older operating systems


Solaris 8 Windows 2000 Support for this platform ended on 31st of March 2008 (when support for SAP GUI for Java 7.00 ended). Support for this platform ended on 31st of March 2008 (when support for SAP GUI for Java 7.00 ended). T hese platforms were supported up to and including release 6.20 of SAP GUI for Java. Mac OS (up to 9.x), OS/2, Tru64 Mac OS X 10.1 Since support for release 6.20 was dropped on 30th of June 2004 these platforms are no longer supported for SAP GUI for Java. Support for this platform was dropped on 30th of June 2005. T hese platforms were supported up to and including release 6.30 of SAP GUI for Java. Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 Since support for release 6.30 was dropped on 31th of December 2005 these platforms are no longer supported for SAP GUI for Java. openSUSE 11.1

Support for this operating system was dropped in December 2010 (http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime).

openSUSE 11.2

Support for this operating system was dropped in May 2011 (http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime).

openSUSE 11.3

Support for this operating system was dropped in January 2012 (http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime).

openSUSE 12.1 Fedora 14 Fedora 15 Fedora 16 RedHat Enterprise Linux 3

Support for this operating system was dropped in May 2013 (http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime). Support for this operating system was dropped in December 2011 (see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/14/Schedule) - therefore SAP GUI for Java is also no longer supported on this operating system. Support for this operating system was dropped in June 2012 (see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/15/Schedule) - therefore SAP GUI for Java is also no longer supported on this operating system. Support for this operating system was dropped in February 2013 (see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/16/Schedule) - therefore SAP GUI for Java is also no longer supported on this operating system. SAP GUI for Java support for this operating system was dropped in 2009 since two newer versions of RedHat Enterprise Linux are available.

SuSE Linux Enterprise Serv er 8 - 10

SAP GUI for Java support for these operating systems was dropped in 2009.

Compatibility and Upgrade


SAP GUI for Java is "downward compatible". You can use, for example, SAP GUI for Java 7.30 with SAP R/3 3.1, 4.0, 4.5, 4.6 or other pre-existing SAP products starting with SAP R/3. However please be aware that while connectivity to older SAP releases is possible, official support is limited to those SAP releases which are still within their respective maintenance period (including extended maintenance and for products newer than or equal to SAP R/3 3.1i customer-specific maintenance). For more information regarding the dependencies between SAP GUI releases and SAP system releases refer to SAP note 30460. You can upgrade SAP GUI prior to upgrading your SAP system. When upgrading SAP GUI, you should use the latest version (please check for hardware requirements in note 146505).

SAP Support Modes


Full Support SAP tries to solve any issue which occurs on such platforms by providing corrections within a new SAP GUI for Java revision or release. Full QA measures are applied to these platforms. Limited support means, that SAP may not be able to solve problems that occur exclusively on such a platform, operating system upgrade is recommended. This applies to all operating systems which are no longer in mainstream Limited Support End of Support Post mortem QA procedures maintenance by the operating system vendors. SAP does not solve / handle problems that occur on such a platform unless they occur on a supported platform as well. This applies to platforms no longer supported by the operating system vendor. For an additional transition phase of up to 12 months, SAP applies QA procedures to patches on platforms which are no longer supported by the operation system vendor.
