CODE OF PRACTICE ON BUILDABLE DESIGN

This course is accepted as satisfying the Buildable Design Training requirement for listing with the Public Sector Panels of Consultants (PSPC)

INTRODUCTION Buildable design legislation came into effect on 1 January 2001. Under this legislation, all new building projects with gross floor areas of 5000m2 and above are required to comply with the minimum buildability requirements stipulated in the Code of Practice on Buildable Design. New extension or addition to existing building is also affected by the legislation. Over the years, changes have been made to the scope of legislation, the minimum buildability scores required and the Buildable Design Appraisal System (BDAS). New products had also been introduced and more experiences had been gained in meeting the regulatory requirements. The minimum buildability scores will continue to be raised every one to two years over the next few years. This is because the initial standards were set low in 2001 so that the industry had more time to adjust and familiarise themselves with the requirements. Attending this course is also accepted as satisfying the Buildable Design Training requirement for listing with the Public Sector Panels of Consultants (PSPC)
