Course Text: Glencoe Algebra 2, 2012 Grading Policy: 60% - Major Assessments (Tests and Projects) 25% - Quizzes 15% - Homework The grading scale will be that of Greenville County Schools Tutoring: Tutoring will be offered by the math department Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. In addition, I will offer tutoring Wednesday mornings at 8:15 am. Additional tutoring is available upon request. Test and Quizzes: Students will usually have a test or a quiz each week. They will be announced so students can prepare. Mrs. Clareys Schedule: 1st: Algebra II Honors 2nd: Algebra II Honors 3rd: Algebra II Honors Lunch 4th: Planning 5th: Planning 6th: Algebra I: Part A 7th: Algebra II Honors Addition Recommended Materials: 1. 3-ring Binder 2. Scientific Calculator (TI-83 Plus Highly Recommended) 3. Colored Pens or Pencils 4. Graph Paper

Homework, Papers, and Projects: Homework will be given every night and will be due the next day, unless otherwise instructed. If additional help is needed, students are welcome to schedule a time in addition to the times stated above. Late Policy: Two late assignments will be accepted per quarter with a 20% deduction. Additional late assignments will receive zero points.

I am very excited to begin working with each and every student and parent in the 20132014 school year. I truly believe that every student has great potential and the ability to learn, and I am looking forward to helping to develop and lead students in a path of growth and achievement. Discipline Policy: In the event of a students misbehavior, the following may occur: 1st offense: 2nd offense: 3rd offense: 4th offense: Verbal Warning and Discussion Detention and/or Parent Contact Two Detentions and/or Parent Contact Referral to Principal

Depending on the students previous record in class and severity of the offense, a more severe action may occur than those listed above. Major Rules: 1. Actively participate in class with a good attitude. 2. Come prepared every day.

Course Overview: Equations, linear relations, functions, and systems of equations and inequalities will be covered in this course. Students will build upon the knowledge learned in Algebra I to learn the mathematics in-depth. Students will be introduced to new concepts such as the number e, logarithms, natural logarithms, and imaginary and complex numbers. They will work with rational and polynomial functions and will model real world scenarios. With the tools learned in Algebra II, students will be prepared to be successful in PreCalculus. Please be sure to attend Eastsides Open House for a more detailed course description and outline by unit. Important Dates: Open House: Spirit Week: October 511 End Quarter 1: October 25 Midterm Exams: January 1316 End Quarter 2: January 16 End Quarter 3: March 26 End Quarter 4: June 5 Final Exams: June 2 5 Power School: Parents and students, be sure to check the portal regularly for grades. Grades will be entered within 7 days of collection and will be ready to view. Passwords will be received in students English classes.

Parents: In addition to the individual supplies your child will need, we are also in need of a few classroom supplies. Students are not required to bring these in, but it would be greatly appreciated. If you are willing to donate to our classroom, please send items with your child to school. Thank you in advance!
