Q1 (a) Millinium Powers Engineering is a nationwide reputed Malaysian based company which was established in the year 2009. The company is located at Juru, Penang. Millinium Powers Engineering specializes in manufacturing, renovation and repairing of engineering machinery parts. The companys manufacturing involves building of back loader, daktin pipe, filter valves, etc. The companys repairing involves repairing of back loader, repairing and changing parts for Becco, repairing of hydraulic and changing of oil seal cylinder, etc. The company also provides services to production companies such as Asia Power & Movers Engineering Sdn. Bhd., Shanpoornam Metal Sdn. Bhd., Utrasen Metal Sdn. Bhd., Amriiy Sdn. Bhd., and others. Also, the company provides services to the harbor ports at Penang Sea Port and LCCT Airport. The company years of experience in designing and manufacturing of tools and fabrication of various types of tools made it possible for the company to bear extensive engineering production and capabilities on each and every one of their customers projects. Millinium Powers Engineering philosophys of providing superior quality products at competitive prices and prompt delivery has earned itself a reputable track record with customers in many related fields. Q1(b) Millinium Powers Engineering provides the following services: Precision Machinery Parts, Bearing Service and Scrap Beam Bucket Manufacturing Piping installation Stainless Steel Fabrication Hydraulic Pump Service Fabrication of jacket pipe and reamer Repairing of platform, gate and awning, and container office The companys manufacturing involves building of back loader, daktin pipe, filter valves, black material jacket pipe, silo standardsteel pipe, coolent pipe, water filter tank, dolly baggage, grill gate, windows, steam pipes, and railing platform ladder. The companys
repairing involves repairing of back loader, repairing and changing parts for Becco, repairing of hydraulic and changing of oil seal cylinder, and repairing of cylinder, bucket and burner pipe.
Q2(a) Based on Millinium Powers Engineering, the company standard of business communication method is meeting with the client face to face, phone calls, appointments and via email. To promoting the companys product services, the company has to play the sales person role and has to explain the service quality and the terms of quotation and tender. By doing face to face communication, the company gains their client trust and make the client sign up the tender. As for the phone calls method, the company involves with the setting up of appointments for meeting purposes, informing the client with regards of their remaining debt with respect of the time given to settle the debt, and also to answer any of their customers enquiries with respect to the service and products provided. In terms of the appointment method, this is done to set up meeting with customers to either enquire about their existing tender, enquire about the dateline of completion of the respective product or to provide feedback based on the completed product send to the customers within the given dateline. The email method is used to send the quotation order based on the required product asked to produce by the customer to the company. Also, to provide the necessary contract with respect to the product or service required to the customer.
Q2 (b) Organizational Behavior can be seen as a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization, to enable applying this knowledge towards improving organizational effectiveness. Organizational Behavior is an important concept for any organization, since it deals with the three determinants of behavior in organizations: Individuals, Groups and Structure. Organizational Behavior then applies the knowledge gained about individuals, groups and the effect of structure on behavior in order to make organizations work more effectively. In a nut shell, OB is concerned with the study of what people do in an organization and how their behavior affects the organizations performance. Seeing as OB is concerned with employee related situations, it tends to emphasize behavior related to jobs, work, absenteeism, employment turnover, human performance and management. The organizations base rests on managements philosophy, values, vision and goals. This in turn drives the organizational culture which is composed of the formal organization, informal organization, and the social environment. The workers perceive this as the quality of work life which directs their degree of motivation. The final outcomes are performance, individual satisfaction, and personal growth and development. All these elements combine to build the model or framework that the organization operates from. While working at Millinium Powers Engineering, it can be seen that the company has encountered various types of customers that runs their business using various methods. Therefore, the subject Organizational Behavior have taught the factors that impact individual and group behavior at Millinium Powers Engineering and how this company manages their environments. Organizational behavior provides a set of tools, theories and concepts to understand, analyze, describe, and manage attitudes and behavior at the company. This knowledge becomes a helpful tool for dealing with various types customer behavior and in organization.
Q3(a) Millinium Powers Engineering hired the student for internship for a period of 4 months and assigned the position as Admin Cum Sales Executive. Therefore, the duties that were assigned to the student were Administrative Assistant and also as a Sales Executive. As an Administrative Assistant, the student was assigned to prepare paper work such as issuing purchasing order, sales order, typing quotation and preparing basic accounts on a daily basis. While performing the above task, the student have been trained to answer incoming phone calls, outgoing calls, responding to customers emails, answering customers enquiries and reminding the customers debt terms and datelines. At times, the student has been assigned to bank incoming and outgoing cheques. As a Sales Executive, the student was assigned to fix an appointment with the customer to promote the services and products of the company. This method was considered a great way of building a good rapport in establishing business agreement. The student was also trained to negotiate dealings with the customers to accept the terms and conditions outline by the company without having to cut cost. As a Sales Executive, the student was asked to purchase materials for producing new machinery parts. The student also needed to negotiate the price and the quantity with the client. Also, the student needed to make sure that the customer agrees with the terms and conditions before signing up on the contract agreement. Q3 (b) While working at Millinium Powers Engineering, the student has gained the following experiences as both being an Administrative Assistant and Sales Executive. As an Administrative Assistant, the student was able to gain real life experience performing the work as an employee in an organization. Also, the student was able to learn different management style and work environment. Meanwhile, it also helped the student to learn types of duties that suites the student inner skills. As a Sales Executive, the student has developed professional skills such as marketing, promoting, negotiating, dealing, decision making, compromising, and building a network of contacts for the company. Therefore, from
this internship, the student is able to find a suitable job that matches the student abilities. The internship also helps the student to build up their resume. This internships also help the employers seek students who has gain experience.
