1. Name of the Project CNE module Nurses are seeking continuing professional development that is easily accessible, convenient, and available at any time and any place. As nurses have increasing access to Internets and Intranets at home and their workplace, courses for continuing nursing education must be available to meet this need. This module will provide continuing nursing education (CNE) on the World Wide Web. In order to maintain competency in rapidly changing health care systems, and meet the challenge of overcoming traditional barriers to continuing education, this CNE will provide access to innovative educational delivery methods. i. ii. iii. 4. Functional Requirements User Content authentication and upload by authorized users Administrator Registration of CNE user and authentication of user by email through link Facility for uploading the e-learning content by the authorized users Uploaded e-learning content will be made available to the CNE user only after review by the committee After review of e-learning content, content will be converted in to o Multimedia presentation in embedded form along with video and audio facility o Output should be in HTML file with video frame, slide frame and a table of contents. o Provide buttons for forwarding and rewinding the video/ Presentation. The CNE users should be able to select any module based on his / her interest and start reading / viewing the video. CNE user can take a pre-test for review his / her knowledge with a review of question and answers CNE user can take a final test which should be interactive with a duration along with review of question and answers and final results like pass / fail with total marks scored. o The contents of each question can be enriched with images, formulas, audio, video and flash movies. Admin can also insert images and formulas into answer options. o Messages for correct and incorrect answers o Message for partial answer in Multiple Choice/Response questions o Quiz result messages o Track the student test result. o If CNE user has successfully completes the online test than generate online certificate.

Online certificate should have digital signature of the concerned authorities as per the norms o If CNE user has successfully complete the online test then award the grade points as per the Mohfw and INC norms. Feedback messages to encourage users to continue taking the test or to prompt correct answers. All messages in test can be easily customized according to requirements: i. Secure access of confidential data (users details). SSL can be used. ii. 24 X 7 availability iii. Better component design to get better performance at peak time iv. Flexible service based architecture will be highly desirable for future extension o i. ii. Context sensitive help on each page. SMS and E-Mail alerts should be sent out to the User once they have been completed the test. Professional look and feel Use of AJAX at least with all registration forms Browser testing and support for IE, Chrome, NN, Mozilla, and Firefox. Use of Graphical tool like JASPER to show strategic data to admin Reports exportable in .XLS, .PDF or any other desirable format User wise results Test wise user scoring State wise CNE users, along with district wise break up High level of security to the private information provided by the users. Website should be customizable for each user. Administration page also need to be provided Minimum 2 Time frame will be finalized after discussion with NIC Flash,UML, J2EE, XML, AJAX, Web 2.0, Web-services, SOA with MySQL DB as backend Any tool can be used as and when required, preferable open source Linux will be the preferred OS.
