2011-2012 ASSOCIATION GAMES
Seniors
This year saw us play Para Districts on Sunday 12th February at Mitchell
Park Recreational Reserve. Not an easy task as Para Districts won last
years competition culminating in their triumph in the Adelaide oval nal
against the Country team representative.
Adelaide & Suburban won the toss and elected to bowl. We took to the eld
with 6 players playing their rst senior games Rashaan Oakey,Coromandel
Sam Titterton & Brett Kinnear, Cove Jamie Henwood ,Icc Sharks Michael
Wegener,Belair Anthony May, South Rd and 2 other players playing their
second game in Adam Hartlett,South Rd and A Singh, Keswick. Wickets
were taken at regular intervals with the highest Para partnership being
30 for the 6th wicket and eventually nishing at 9/192 from their allotted
40 overs. Josh Lourens from Coro was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22
from his 8 overs. Other contributors were Daniel Rowe Glenelg 2/37 from 8
overs and Anthony May 3/50 from 8 overs. Our spinner Singh also bowled
economically for 0/25 off his 8 overs. Highlights in the eld were our captain
Rusty Curyer taking a one handed blinder at square leg and a run out from
Rashaan Oakey. We were quietly condent that if we batted to our full
potential this score was certainly reachable.
98
We started strongly with our openers Oakey and Shaun Krutli South Rd
putting on 56 before Oakey was dismissed for 11. At 3/139 with the dismissal
of Krutli for 89 we were certainly feeling good about our chances. Shaun
batted beautifully for his 89 off 120 balls and was deemed unfortunate to be
given out run out at a crucial time. Run out seemed the only way Para could
dismiss him as he had little trouble with any of their bowlers. Unfortunately
we stumbled our way to 6/163 and eventually nished agonisingly short at
6/185. Due credit must be given to Paras bowling attack over the last 10
overs where their greater experience with 1 day games showed in the way
they bowled and elded. Jamie Henwood batting at 4 was the best of our
other batsman with 23.
My thanks go to Andrew Wright for umpiring and Dave Billett for scoring. A
special thanks to Mitchell Park club who put on a trouble free day for both
players and spectators alike. Their lunch and organisation of the day was
very much appreciated. Thanks also to Adelaide & Suburban Management
Committee for their support. Finally my thanks to the players who again
gave their time freely and I trust they enjoyed the experience of representing
their club and The Association. With experience gained I am condent we
can acquit ourselves even better next year.

U21 REPORT 2011-12
It is with great pleasure to present 2011/12 Under 21s report.
Our rst game was against Para Disticts at Morphettville park. A fantastic
venue for Cricket and great support for the chadstar from the locals. Batting
rst we made 9/148 with O.Mcdowall scoring a patient 35 and B.Pomeroy
chipping in with 17.
Para chased the runs being 8/148 of 34.3 overs. S.Kreig 4/22 and
O.Mcdowall 2/40 . Our second game was cancelled at the last moment as
Churches were short on numbers due half the team having to play seniors.
Very disappointing for us as we were keen to play.
This situation made it make or break against Turf in our last game at Brighton
Oval. The winner goes to Adelaide oval. Bowling rst after winning the toss
we rolled them for 156. S.Kreig 3/20 and B.Tanner 2/26. A great effort from
the lads.
Our run chase was close but ended 8 runs short In a cliff-hanger nish.
H.Simmonds 36, B.Christie 26 and O.Mcdowall 20. A handful of runs from
playing on the great Adelaide Oval. S.Kreig and O.Mcdowall were outstinding
again. Thanks to all who supported us. It is much appreciated by all of us.

Adelaide Cavaliers Cricket Club
Club Colours: Double Blue
Established 1975 www.cavs.org.au
Premierships: 1986/87 (Section 4) - 1991/92 (Section 3) - 1996/97 (Section 4)
2007/08 (Section 5).
Adelaide Cavaliers again entered two teams for the 2011-12 season, the As
in the new 7x7 competition and the Bs in Section 6.
The As, captained by Jordan Agutter, won eight games and lost three during
the minor round to nish in second spot. They defeated Keswick Red in
a close semi-nal, but were convincingly beaten by Keswick White in the
grand-nal. Opening batsman Graham Sherlock scored 655 runs, including
three 100s and three 50s and easily won the Association batting trophy for
the section. In only 20 games since rejoining the club in 2010/11, Graham
has scored just over 900 runs. His best innings in 2011/12 was against Belair
in Round 9, a one-day game, when he scored 151, including 14 sixes and
10 fours. Another memorable innings was Alex Smiths 153 not out against
North Haven in Round 5, helping Cavaliers to amass an unbeatable 5/314.
It was unfortunate for the team that Alex was not available for the second
half of the season. Ankit Mehta was consistent with the bat, scoring 319
runs including three 50s, and Tom Gara nished with 246 runs. He shared
an opening partnership with Graham Sherlock of 189 against North Haven
in Round 11, scoring his rst century in ten years, and his fourth for the
Cavaliers. Steve Domotor contributed a match-winning 85 not-out in the
semi-nal and Steve Pateyjohns made several good scores, including a ne
66 against Keswick Red. Scott Monaghan, in his rst year with the club,
scored 240 runs including a rapid-re 53 against Belair. Steve Hemming
never quite got going with the bat, but found form in the grand-nal to top-
score with 41. Jordan, with the added pressure of captaincy, was not the
run-machine he has been in previous seasons but he was always reliable
behind the stumps and always encouraging to the bowlers.
Ankit Mehta led the bowling attack, taking 26 wickets at 17, including 4/48
in Round 12 and 4/60 in the grand-nal. In just two seasons with Cavaliers
he has taken 52 wickets and scored 699 runs. Tom Gara took 16 wickets
and Scott Monaghan, hampered considerably by a knee injury for most of
the season, took 14 wickets. Scott was also outstanding in the eld and held
nine catches, including four in the grand-nal. Pari Patel took 14 wickets too
and our spinner, Sunny Singh, took 13. James Hubbard and Jack Hemming
got few opportunities to display their batting or bowling skills, but were
always reliable in the eld.

The Bs, led by Bill Bradshaw, had a bad start to the season, losing four
of the rst ve games and tying one. Bolstered by the return to the club of
Robin Prior after several decades in Canberra and Tim Smith after a year
or two of pretend retirement, plus the recruitment of new oldies Angelo
Pansini and Simon Bates, Bills team managed three wins out of the next six
games to nish in ninth place. As usual, Robin Bradshaw was the mainstay
of the batting, scoring 366 runs, including ve 50s, at the excellent average
of 45. He scored his 10,000th run for the club in Round 7, the rst Cavalier to
reach that milestone. He was well-supported by the big-hitting Kiran Kumar
who scored 226 runs, with a highest score of 63 in Round 10. His opening
partnership of 122 with Robin in that game was a highlight of the season.
James Bradshaw and Dave Allen, who scored his maiden century for the
club in Round 8, contributed several valuable innings in the middle order.
Angelo Pansini scored 152 runs in six innings, including two 50s, and he
also took eight wickets with his medium-pacers. Steve Gara and Robin Prior
(at a combined age of 133) shared the wicket-keeping duties and got 12
dismissals between them. The bowling spearhead was Girish Nagaraja who
snared 29 wickets in eight matches at the startling average of 7.9, and won
the Association bowling trophy for Section 6. His best performance was
5/18 in Round 6 but he also took four wickets on three other occasions, and
bowled with impressive accuracy all season, conceding just under 2 runs/
over. Girish was supported by Steve Jeynes who took 23 wickets and Bill
Bradshaw who took 12, including his 550th wicket for the club. The elding
was again of a very high standard with James Bradshaw and Angelo Pansini
outstanding in the eld. Club stalwart Martin McWhirter again contributed
much both on and off the eld and kept all of the players amused with his
hilarious insights into the ner points of the game.
Milestones of the 2011/12 season:
Robin Bradshaw 10,000 runs and 200 catches
Bill Bradshaw 550 wickets
Tom Gara 200 games and 5,000 runs
Steve Pateyjohns 150 games and 2000 runs
Steve Domotor 150 games
Dave Allen 100 games
Steve Jeynes 50 games
Ankit Mehta 50 wickets and 500 runs

BELAIR CRICKET CLUB
Club Colours: Blue and Silver
Season 2011/12 saw Belair eld 3 teams, one in the 7+7 Section, Section
4 and for the rst time Section 1. While the success of the previous season
couldnt be matched, having the B grade win the Section 4 premiership, the
C grade making the nals and the A grade coming 8th it was still an excellent
season for the club.
The A grad was once again captained by Mike Wegener, and played the clubs
rst ever season in Section 1. It was an interesting year with two wins to start
and two wins to end the season bookending a sequence that involved 6
losses and one win. And while it was considered a successful debut season
in S1 losing two games by two wickets and one game by one run left us
wondering what could have been. Our highlight performance would have
to have been beating the premiers in round 6 after some gritty batting from
Dave Jenner and Don Caruso, inspired bowling from Brodie mangin and
Matt Tansell and our best elding performance of the year. Some other
highlights were Brad Portlocks 95 against Sheidow Pk in blistering heat,
and Luke Debrowskis performances against both Keswick and Cove.
Trophies went to Mike Wegener for batting with 395 runs @ 32.92, Matt
Tansell with 27 wickets @ 17.15, Dave Jenner for elding and M. Wegener
also taking out the club champion award.
After an up and down 2010/11 season, Belairs B Grade were looking to add
some consistency their game. Consistency is what they found! Captained
by Martin Agius in his rst year in the job, the team was able to break
through for their rst premiership after previously coming close on numerous
occasions. This team was able to win 11 out of 13 games for the year with
their only two losses coming against St George, who held top spot for the
majority of the year, and fellow Grand Finalists, Woodcroft.
There were some fantastic contributions throughout the year with Paul
Bogusz, Simon Clarke and Martin Agius each taking close to 30 wickets.
Paul Bogusz, playing in his rst season in section 4 after coming up from
section 7 the previous season, won the B grade and the association bowling
award with 29 wickets. Steve Roesell started the year in ne form with 128
against Corromandel and Dimitri Vlavianos provided the team with some
solidarity, opening the batting all year and nishing 2nd in the clubs batting
award with 293 runs, a personal best. Bradley S Horsell showed glimpses
of his talent early in the year but struggled to capitalize on his solid starts
103
104
to his innings. Towards the end of the year he came good and was quite
outstanding, scoring 586 of his 831 runs in the last four matches of the
year, including an unbeaten 94 in the semi, 81 in the GF and an association
award to go with it! Chris Bragg was exceptional in the eld taking out the
B Grades elding award.
The season culminated in Grand Final against Woodcroft at Blackwood High
Oval. Woodcroft won the toss and due to the tricky wet conditions, put
Belair in to bat. As mentioned earlier, Bradley S Horsell hung in there for a
gritty 81 and Simon Clarke, batting at No.11, produced his best knock of the
year with an invaluable 47 runs, scored in quick time, and even included a
six which broke the windscreen of a spectators car! Belair were bowled out
for a respectable 186, however, with Woodcrofts solid batting line up, the
game was still up for grabs. With two overs still to be bowled on the rst
day at Woodcroft, Belair were able to snag a crucial wicket and went into the
following day with some momentum. Belair were then able to get the wrap it
up the following day pretty quickly with captain Matin Agius taking 5/35 and
an inspired spell of bowling from Bradley S Horsell who took 4/20.
Over all 2011/12 was a fantastic year with contributions from every member
of the team. Hopefully the side can repeat the dose in section 3 next
season!
Season 2011/12 was a good season for the C grade in section 7+7, albeit an
inconsistent one. Captained by Dan Smith the team had some good wins,
and some disappointing losses. We nished the minor rounds in 4th position
on the ladder. This meant it was the 3rd year in a row to make the nals,
which is a great achievement. Team highlights were: somehow claiming
an outright victory in round 12, despite being 8/33 in the rst innings; and
beating the ladder leaders in round 14 (unfortunately we couldnt carry that
form into the semi-nal). Some individual highlights were a wicket off the rst
ball of the season and a hat-trick in round 13, both by Tom Sutton-Smith;
and a superb 117* by Russel Carter in round 6. Both Tom (34 @ 15.35) and
Russel (400 @ 30.71) won our bowling and batting trophies respectively, Tom
also taking out the association trophy for the second year running Adam
Crickmar took out our elding trophy for the second year running.
A special mention goes to our 3 association winners, T.Sutton-smith,
B.Horsell and P.Bogusz. p.Bogusz also took out our best improved award
and Marty Agius was considered our best club man for the year taking out
the Nik (Sumo) Marenkovic award.

Coromandel Cricket Club
Club Colours: Red and Green
Founded: 1862
Season 2011/2012 was an historic season for the Coromandel Cricket Club.
Established in 1862 Coromandel Cricket Club celebrated its 150th season in
style. The highlight without a doubt was the 150th Season Gala Dinner held
in the Adelaide Oval function room. Coromandel Cricket Club hosted over
two hundred guests including past and present players, dignitaries from The
City of Onkaparinga and The City of Mitcham, SACA and the Adelaide and
Suburban Cricket Association. The 2012 Domestic One Day Final was the
back drop to a most memorable evening where guests were treated to ne
dining and a journey through the rich history of one of South Australias
oldest and nest cricket clubs. The Gala Dinner was over twelve months of
work to organise and wouldnt have been possible without the substantial
contribution of the great people at the Coromandel Cricket Club.
The gala dinner was complimented by a celebration round and party where
the Coromandel Cricket Club played arch rivals Coromandel Ramblers in
all grades. The two teams had a drink after the game, proving that despite
such strong rivalries, cricket truly is the gentlemans game. Coromandel
Cricket club coincided its celebrations with the Coro175 Alive program.
The Coromandel area celebrated 175 years of existence and Coromandel
Cricket Club played out a re-enactment game at Sir Frank Smith oval in
February. Hundreds of the local community watched an outstanding display
of cricket prowess on what was spectacular day for all involved.
Our A grade side had a brilliant start to the year with four wins in row prior
to Christmas before some inconsistency crept in. The boys toiled hard for
the rest of the season and pulled off a minor miracle on the last Saturday to
see nals cricket for the third year in a row. Unfortunately it was not to be
after a hard fought semi-nal loss that could have easily gone either way.
The highlights for this year was seeing Rahsaan Oakeys unbeaten 150n.o.
against Belair to win the game off his own bat whilst young gun Anthony
Muggridge secured his spot in the top side with consistent contributions
and quality performances. Again the stand out was Josh Lourens. For the
third year in a row Josh Lourens took out the association bowling trophy,
cementing his status as the premier bowler in the Adelaide & Suburban
Cricket Association.
Our second eleven started out with high hopes in 2012. With a new captain
and the bitter taste of grand nal defeat from last year the boys were keen
to go one further. Unfortunately it was not to be, with many outstanding
and very dominating performances being complimented all too often by
107
108
average ones. In the end the boys fell short of the nals, now hungrier than
ever to taste success. Highlights for the year were Mike Kiwi MacCleans
consistent batting performances, Matt Longhursts unbeaten 188 and the
emergence of new players such as Torin Cooper.
Our third eleven were always going to have a tough year, with such a young
side the guys were on the back foot early on many occasions. Lead by mark
Lemmey the boys worked hard all year, clocking up a number of wins and
even an outright victory. However it was not enough and the boys missed
out on nals cricket this year. The inability to post competitive totals was the
biggest issue for the C grade and the guys will be working hard on that next
year. Their ability to bowl sides out cheaply kept them competitive, and with
a few more runs on the board they will be a force to be reckoned with in the
future. Highlight of the year was Mark Lemmeys unbeaten 102 against the
Coromandel Ramblers in the celebration game.
The fourth eleven lead by club legend Greg Kearsley had an injection of
new blood this season that saw some indifferent performances. New
players Mitch Knuckey, John Murphy and Peter Keane all put in strong
performances and will be the back bone of these squads in the future. Again
inconsistency with the bat cost the guys points at critical times, but some
strong performances in particular with the ball kept this hungry lot in the
hunt. Simon Zacpal showed more promise with the bat, and Club stalwart
Bruce Carpenter clocked up his 9000th run in his stellar career. Greg will be
back in 2013 as leader, and with this group I see them playing nals cricket
sooner rather than later.
Overall Coromandel Cricket Club has had a very successful season both
on and off eld. With 150 years elapsed, we now look forward to a future
that is brighter than ever. Coromandel Cricket has had outstanding support
from its sponsors, presents themselves in a more professional manner than
any other team in the league and has young talented cricketers in all grades
ready to take up the ght in 2013. We all look forward to next season with
great anticipation.

with the boys winning a premiership in their rst season. Congratulations to
Dave, Richie and all the boys on a fantastic season.
This has not been possible without the hard work of many people, some
of whom are individually mentioned elsewhere in this magazine. I would
like to thank all the junior coaches for their efforts in coaching the teams. It
cannot be underestimated the commitment these people make by coaching
all trainings and matches for a full season. Further assistance from assistant
coaches, scorers & umpires completes the volunteers needed just for the
kids to play and I thank them all for their efforts.
On the senior front it was a difcult season with the loss of a few key A
Grade players from last season and several B Grade premiership players.
This tested the depth of the club and while we may not have seen success
in playing nals in any team, it was pleasing that we managed to eld 4
teams despite signicant player losses. It was also fantastic to see the
involvement from senior players with the junior trainings, particularly for the
u15s. I would like to thanks our captains Justin Calderbank, Ben Brown
/ Glen Rosie, Brett Chilton and Marty Wagner for their efforts in putting
together 4 competitive teams. I would also like to thank our Senior Director,
Andrew Strunk, for his commitment to both coaching juniors and the
numerous phone calls and selection headaches he achieved this season. I
wish Andrew all the best in his recovery from his difcult hip surgery.
In other club matters it was pleasing to see support from both seniors and
juniors at our club quiz night and I hope that will only increase in coming
seasons. The Quiz Night is our major fundraiser for each season so your
support is important to the club. Also, after a long and arduous process of
gaining council approval, dealing with neighbours and somewhat reliable
tradies, we managed to complete our new cricket nets. This was important
for our club to ensure we have adequate facilities to cope with the additional
teams we have and will need in the future. The new matting may be a little
bouncy but it is designed to be the same surface as Hawthorndene and
should settle down in time.
I would like to acknowledge the support of our sponsors who provide more
contributions to the club than ever before. Our major sponsor was again
Kevin OLooney of Skyworld Contractors. If you are considering any roof
glazing products or caf-style blinds please give Kevin the opportunity to
quote on your job. We now have many happy club members who have
utilised Skyworlds services. Our new Junior Sponsor for the season was
Paul Davy on behalf of Cundall who are specialists in environmentally
sustainable building solutions and the Seaford Hotel came on board through
Ryan Ward as our seniors sponsor. Further sponsorship of our BBQs came
through free bread from Blackwood Bakers Delight and weekly meat trays
111
for rafes from the Blackwood Butcher. As always Steve Davenport and
Paul Durham of Promotions R Us sponsored our Quiz Night with further
donations from Champs Sports in Blackwood. Details of all sponsors are
on the club website.
Thankyou to our club committee of Jarrad Benson, Glen Rosie, Andrew
Strunk and Jenny Buersch for all your hard work again this season.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your on-going support of our club and
we always welcome feedback so that we can improve.

Clapham Cricket Team
Clapham Cricket Club remained in Section 3 for the 2011/2012 season after a
middle of the road nish last season. Our team improved on last year by making
the nals ultimately losing to North Haven by 59 runs in the semi-nal.
Apart from the rst two games, where the majority of our players were
overseas, our team was more settled then last year which contributed to our
improved showing. However it was our batting that let us down again with
batting collapses hurting us too often. We relied on too few to make our runs
and only had Julian French, Sam Clark and Matt Elton posting scores over 50.
Julian French won the batting award for the fourth time in ve seasons with
292 runs.
Our bowling kept us in most games restricting the majority of teams to around
150. Alan Hill and Toby Gardner both managed 5 wickets in an innings once
and Tom Quinn did it three times. He also won our bowling award with 39
wickets at an average of 10.23.
Congratulations to Julian French, Kip Wilckens, Toby Gardner, Matthew
Cleggett and Sam Clark who all played their 50th game for the club this
season.

GLENELG ANA C.C.

Hi all
Well another year has passed us by and it was not a great one for the club.
After last season just missing the nals by 0.1% this year we had high hopes
of playing nals cricket this year. But not winning a game before Christmas
meant that Door was shut for the season. After Christmas we did turn the
form around but a little too late she cried for us. One the after hand the
second 11 was knocking on the door all year for that nals spot.
But the team above them just would not let them in.So overall not a great
year on the eld for the ANA boys but of the eld we had three weddings.
So congrats the Rowie, Dr Phil and Nimmi and remember guys there is 6
months of the year when we dont play cricket to get married.
Special thanks go out to both Captains this year for a Stella job on and of the
eld and to all that helped out around the club.
To all that have one trophy this year well done and lets see if you can do it
again next year. But if you missed out this year it some think to come back
for next year (not just the beer).
To all the guys that had Milestones this year well done. Popey, Biz, Baz,
Toddy and Chopper on 100 games for the club and Daniel for 300 wkts and
2500 runs also CJ for 200 wkts, Stefo for 3500 runs.
To a personal note I would like to thank all that I have come across in my
20 years with the club and say thanks for all the memories. To all that I have
played with thanks for making myself look good some off the time and all that
I have played against thanks for letting me have so much fun on the eld.
So Goodbye and Good luck.

Hamilton Cricket Club
Club Colours: gold and green
The Hamilton Cricket Club embarked on a new horizon by entering the
Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association at the start of the 2011-2012.
The season started with two wins and then with two loses. The strength
of the team depended on the batting, with some very good performances,
including a top score of 274 by the Captain, Michael Young. This is reputed
to be the second highest score recorded in the Association, over the last
15 years. Over all the individuals made a total of ve centuries and eight
partnerships of over the 100 mark. The highest partnership for the season,
was 211 between stalwarts Jeff Blundell and Michael Warland, against
Sheidow Park. In the semi-nal, Vice Captain Michael Warland made 147,
aided by good support from the lower order batsmen, proved to be the
difference in a hard fought match. The bowling was again held together by
Steven Sampson, with 26 wickets, assistance being given by Scott Blundell,
Scott Rademacher and Michael Warland. Four bowlers were able to gain
ve wickets in an innings and benetted the Clubs over all result. The best all
round performance for the season was enjoyed by Scott Rademacher with
585 runs, 16 wickets and ten catches. Michael Young nished second in
Section 5 batting with 673 runs and with a better run concerning health and
injuries he may well have taken the honours. The Club also had ve of the
top ten batsmen in Section 5. In the end the team nished 4th on the minor
round ladder and eventually lost the grand-nal because we were simply
not up to scratch on the two days. During the season we were blessed
with some solid umpiring from Kevin Spencer who ofciated at ve of our
matches. The team will hopefully gain from the experience and provide
further challenges in 2012-2013.

KENILWORTH CRICKET CLUB
Club Colours : Crimson and White
Season 2011/12 will go down as an apocalyptic one for the Club both on-eld
and off-eld.
The end of season ended tragically with the sudden death in March of one
of the greats of the Kenilworth Cricket Club, Robert (Sabba) Sbattella at the
age of only 51 years.
Sabba rst started with Kenilworth in October 1978 as a young tearaway fast
bowler with a lengthy and quick run up, which together with his dark tanned
looks and long owing hair was quite a fearsome sight (and which belied his
true nature as a gentle person). Sabba dominated in his early days winning
the Clubs highest wickets awards 6 times in the B and C grades and in total
took over 400 wickets for the club. He was also a very free-hitting batsman as
was displayed many times and best highlighted with his memorable 85 as an
opening batsman in a B grade semi-nal.
Sabba played almost 300 games for KCC and captained the D team in 2003/04
and the B team for 6 consecutive seasons from 2005/06 to 2010/11.
Sabba took over as President of our club in 2008/09 and continued in that role
until he died. He was also a playing Life Member of the Adelaide & Suburban
Cricket Association and in 2011/12 served on its Executive Committee.
Robert Sbattella will be remembered as the most popular and well-liked bloke
at the KCC during his 34 years with the club. RIP Sabba.
On the eld, Kenilworth entered 2 teams for season 2011/12 in Sections
2 & 5. Due to injuries and players moving away, the season proved to be a
challenging one in elding full competitive sides and the lack of depth was
crucial in the end. Nevertheless, the A grade, captained by Steven Cooper,
remained competitive to nish 7th with two narrow losses by 3 runs and 2 runs
proving costly.
Steven Cooper tied with Mathew Stancl on 278 runs for the batting award
whilst Adam Browne took out the bowling award with 33 wickets.
Adam Browne had an outstanding season with both bat and ball, scoring 203
runs and taking 33 wickets, consequently winning the
John Gritzalis A Grade Player of the Year trophy.
The B grade, captained by David Schell, started with a bang, sitting on top
of the ladder after 5 rounds. Unfortunately, it then fell in a heap losing 5 of its
next 6 games. In an exciting nale to the season, they defeated South Park
by 6 runs in the last round, unfortunately to no avail, due to a shock win by
ICC 5 over the top side ICC 4 , thus giving both ICC 4 and ICC 5 nals spots.
Conspiracy theories abound!
119
John Singer had a memorable season with the bat, scoring 703 runs including
a high of 205* and also 138. John was a deserved winner of the Associations
RJ Halliday Memorial Batting Trophy for the highest runs scorer in Sections
4 to 7.
The affable Mastan Neelam was the leading wicket taker with 28 wickets
including a best of 8/22 with his medium paced cutters.
Amaresh Donti had a good all round season with 290 runs and 19 wickets.

Keswick Cricket Club
Club Colours: Maroon and Gold
Founded: 1942 Website: www.keswickcricketclub.com.au
In its 70th year this season, Keswick Cricket Club took out its 24th
Premiership by winning section 7+7.
As a result of the pre-season amalgamation with the Westminster Old
Scholars Cricket Club, KCC gained the opportunity to play on the turf pitch
at Westminster as well as a new sponsor, the Marion Hotel, which became
our new club base.
KCC elded 5 teams, one each in sections 1, 2, 5, and two teams in section
7+7. 84 players represented Keswick this season, including 14 new players this
year, taking to 1040 the total number of players to have represented KCC.
The section 1 side had a difcult season with 4 wins in the minor rounds
(nished 10th). Captain Russell Curyer performed well with the bat (200
runs, av 16.67) and ball (16 wickets, av 19.06), winning the Barry Kearsley
Life Members Trophy (for A Grade Best All Round) as well as the elding
trophy. Ex-Westminster player Steve McRae won the A grade batting (342
runs, av 26.30 / 10 wickets, av 18.30). Heath Mackay (278 runs) and Paul
McGowran (323 runs) also performed well with the bat. Paul McGowran
scored a gutsy 100 not out in the win against Glenelg ANA. Lucky Singh won
the bowling trophy (24 wickets, av 19.04, BB 6/56). He was well supported
by the Armanpal Singh (22 wickets) and Simon Krieg (18 wickets).
The section 2 side performed consistently well (7 wins in the minor rounds)
under the captaincy of Scott Curyer, making the semi-nals (nished 3rd).
A number of our clubs younger players were promoted to this team and
they responded admirably. Scott Voigt, Greg Morris and Craig Coretti were
120
the backbone of a strong bowling line up. Greg won the bowling season
aggregate (24 wickets, av 18.46). Brad Williamson (242 runs, av 26.89) won
the batting trophy. Mark Sheppard (207 runs), Scott Curyer (181 runs) and
James McIntyre (147 runs) provided solidity to the batting. All-rounders Billy
Singh, Gordon Florance and Alistair Wiegelmann all had good seasons.
Scott Curyer won the section 2 elding trophy as well as the association
elding trophy.
The section 5 led by rst time captain David Robertson had a fantastic
regular season. They won 10 games in a row, after a rst round loss (nished
1st after the minor rounds). As disappointing as their semi-nal loss was,
it would only serve to make those players more determined next season.
Grant Murphy (25 wickets, av 9.32) lead the wicket taking from Jason Otte
(11 wickets), Mark Lewis (10 wickets) and Jaspreet Singh (10). Darren
Ridings (222 runs, av 27.75) won the batting trophy . There were signicant
contributions from Bob Bateman (203 runs), Steve Verco (202 runs), David
Robertson (185 runs). Mark Sheppard in his only appearance in this section
scored 111 not out. Wicketkeeper-batsman Bob Bateman won the elding
trophy.
Keswick Red in section 7+7 had a core of players who were aged well over
40 (including 5 regular players aged over 50). They performed well nishing
3rd after the minor rounds. The most satisfying win in the season was the
derby game against Keswick Whites in the round 5, coming back from 8/94
to make 172 in the rst innings then rolling the Whites for 123. Unfortunately,
in the round 11 return derby game, Keswick Reds were steamrolled 123 all
out vs 8/317. Seven players made over 150 runs in the season. Sam Calleja
won the batting trophy (234 runs, av 33.34). Dave Charters rainmakers
befuddled enough opposition batsmen to win the bowling trophy (24
wickets, av 16.17). 15-year-old Ben Skinner (son of club legend Steven
Skinner) bowled well and won the elding trophy.
Keswick White in section 7+7 won the premiership. It was truly a team effort
with all players contributing in the minor rounds and nals. Glen McGowran
(who legally blind) even caught a couple of blinders. Shaun Hansen (34
wickets, av 12.48, BB 7/18 / 228 runs, av 28.50) and Alan Doubleday (360
runs, av 40.00), won the bowling and batting trophies respectively. Liam
Harris (353 runs, 26 wickets), Guy Hobbs (305 run, 5 wickets), John Murphy
(171 runs, 14 wickets) and John Warne (25 wickets, elding trophy) also had
outstanding seasons. Liam Harris made 117 against Keswick Red.
In the ASCA T20 competition, KCC made the semi-nals. In the rst round,
we defeated Mitchell Park (8/211 to 8/93) with captain Russell Curyer
starring (77 runs, 3 wickets). In the quarter nal, we defeated Coromandel
Ramblers in a close nish (8/156 to 7/154) with Paul McGowran making 45
121
and Amanpal Singh taking 3/34. In the semi nal, we lost to South Road (136
all out chasing 7/147).
Simon Krieg, Dan Krieg and Alistair Wiegelmann played for the ASCA U21
team (managed by Simon Morris - KCC player and life member). Simon
Krieg took 4/22 against Para Districts and 3/20 against Adelaide Turf. Simon
Krieg and Dan Krieg were both named in the ASCA U21 team of the year.
Russell Curyer and Amanpal Singh played in the ASCA senior team against
Para Districts.
We congratulate ASCA secretary Craig Lawn (KCC life member), who
received the SACA Volunteers Medal in recognition of his 25 years of
service to ASCA. At ASCA level, we also thank Keswick life members Steven
Skinner (ASCA handbook), John Zadow (ASCA umpires director) and Peter
Williamson (umpire).
The social highlight of the year was the 70th year dinner held at Adelaide
Oval. In many members eyes, it was one of the best events KCC ever
held. Past players from the 7 decades were interviewed, stories recalled
and club legends remembered. Among the favourite stories to emerge
were about club founder Joe Heptinstall. One story had Joe playing soccer
with the cricket ball in the drainage ditch at West Beach, wasting time to
avoid an outright defeat. Another story was about Joe almost blowing up
an ammunition and petrol storage area when preparing a ground to play
with a burn off. The special guest speaker was Les Burdett. Les kindly
donated an original Adelaide Oval fence picket to KCC for fund-raising. The
night reinforced the comradeship on and off the cricket eld, something that
makes KCC special.
Jim Clarke, in his rst year at KCC, won the Clubman of the Year award.
Jim made many friends for his contributions on and off the eld. Jim will be
contributing even more this upcoming season, having joined the 2012-13
committee.
KCC would like to thank the 2011-12 committee: John Miller, Heath Mackay,
Khimseng Tew, Grant Murphy, Darren Ridings, Simon Krieg, Scott Curyer,
Barry Kearsley, Simon Morris, Dale Hutchins and Scott Patching.

MITCHELL PARK CRICKET CLUB
Club Colours: Red, White and Green
Email: [email protected]
2011/12 was a successful summer for Mitchell Park Cricket Club, upon which
we are looking to strengthen and build towards even bigger and better things.
A Grade this past summer was led by Tim Harris, and expectations were high.
Whilst the teams elding and bowling performances improved dramatically,
its batting rarely revealed enough runs; and in the game where it mattered
most, Round 10, to continue a winning streak to try and make the nals, both
the batting and elding let the team down. A Grade roared out of the gates
with a 3-1 start to the season, but then dropped three games in a row and
suddenly needed to win all of its last four matches to qualify. It was not to be.
The team nished just eight points out of the nals in fth place with six wins
and ve losses, having beaten the grand nalists in three of four games during
the summer. However, there were plenty of positives to be gained from the
season. Darren Adams continued his ne career form with the bat to lead the
way for the team from that viewpoint, including three half-centuries in his 258
runs at an impressive 51.6 average, in limited appearances. Jamie Somereld,
whilst never tallying more than 50 in any innings, was still at least an extremely
consistent performer with the bat (237 @ 26.33). Chris Badman also had a
very good start to the summer. As mentioned earlier, in the eld the Lions were
remarkably better than in previous seasons, and this was often the difference
in matches; the catches and runouts were taken, and elders were always keen
not to end up on The Sherriffs dropped catch nes list. Nick Szepessy tallied
the most elding votes to lead the way for the team; Jamie Somereld was
surprisingly not often picked for votes, but still took eight catches, including
four in one innings, and has the safest pair of hands at the club.
The area of bowling was undoubtedly Mitchell Parks greatest new weapon.
Mark Hibberd played his rst season of A Grade cricket and impressed all
at that level with his commitment, effort and never-say-die attitude, grabbing
25 wickets at a cost of just 13.2 runs per wicket to lead the charge. He was
backed up by a host of good bowlers in Jake Hollis (21 @ 13.7), Damien Gelven
(14 @ 10.8), Allan King (14 @ 12) and Tim Stewart (10 @ 6.9). Jakes haul of
5/25 against ICC Sharks was a just reward for some long spells of brilliant
bowling without a wicket in some games, and set up a potential win which
unfortunately was not capitalised on. His improvement this summer was
critical to the teams success. Gelvens bag of 5/16 versus Warradale set up an
impressive win for the Lions early in the season, and his bowling was always
dangerous. Rounding out that bowling contingent was Robert Quintel, who
snared eight wickets, often bowling as a fth option when one of those afore-
126
127
mentioned players were absent. He ensured that he was a worthy player in
that team.
The A Grade looks forward to the challenge of qualifying for nals next summer,
and continuing to show its improvement.
The B Grade, too, irted with nals contention for most of the summer before
falling away at the wrong end of the season. Robert Muchan was named
captain and led from the front with his bowling, capturing 16 wickets (@
15.1), including a season-best of 6/37 vs Morphettville Park. Steve Rodgers
continued his impressive all-round form with bat and ball, scoring 332 runs
(@33.2) and leading the B Grade wicket tally in taking 21 wickets @ 15.7. His
nest moment came in scoring 112 against Coromandel Ramblers, during
which he also featured in a mighty partnership of 165 with Daniel Edwards.
Paul Halas also made a century, 107 at Coromandels Blackwood Oval,
which cemented another win for the Lions. He recorded 297 runs at 42.4.
Unfortunately outside this pair, B Grade found consistent run scoring options
difcult to come by which, not unlike A Grade, made it difcult for them to
make nals in a tough, tight division. They nished sixth with a 6-5 record. One
of their most impressive efforts came in winning a game outright after they had
performed disastrously in losing rst innings points, and when it appeared the
game could go no worse for them.
A number of other bowlers chimed in for the B Grade wickets-wise. Adam
Kelly took 17 @ 16.1 with his swing bowling and Daniel Edwards 10 @ 16.3
with some tight spin bowling, with various others stepping in where required
to put in a consistent effort.
C Grade were the toast of the Club in making the Grand Final of Section 6.
After a terrible 2010/11 for the Cs where they practically nished last (but
for some teams which folded during that summer), 2011/12 took a complete
turn for the better. Players were available unlike the previous season and
often people actually had to miss out on games, which had been a rarity in
the previous couple of years. Despite this, there was just about someone who
always would pull out on the eve or the morning of the game; luckily, these
numbers ensured there was always someone willing and able to step into
the side. Peter Berkshire returned as captain and wicketkeeper, and guided
the side to a 9-2 record (one forfeit win), including one outright victory. He
also scored 362 runs @ 32.9, including a season high of 130 vs Coromandel
Ramblers and two half-centuries. He was aided and abetted by fellow veteran
John Leicester, who made a triumphant return to form in scoring 418 runs @
38. His highest score of 109 at Coromandel came out of a team total of 187
in desperate circumstances, and he also scored another three half centuries.
John Forster also scored 202 runs for the season with two half centuries,
including a ne 61 in the semi-nal vs Sheidow Park. Mark Beavis made 177 @

22.1 to round out the highest run scorers for the season.
Terry Hollis, as ever, spearheaded the bowling attack with 25 wickets at 14.3,
and was always on target. John Forster was just behind him in taking 24 wicket
@ 16.1, capping a ne all-round season for him. He had a season best of
5/60 vs Adelaide Cavaliers. In limited matches, Moss Fawdry made a welcome
return to the club, taking 17 wickets @ 12.5, including two ve wicket hauls
of 5/58 vs Warradale and 5/48 vs Warradale. Kyle Hanegraaf also took 13
wickets, and Ben Judd and John Leicester 10 each.
The C Grade won their semi-nal against Sheidow Park comfortably, but sadly
could not chase down Morphettville Parks total in the Grand Final, ending an
outstanding season for them on a downer. However, with most of their veteran
base intact, they hope to return to nals action this summer.
The summers awards night was a splendid feature as always, organised by
our hard-working committee and capped by Mark Sansomes vote count, not
to mention Chanel Druszczs delicious meal. At the end of the vote count for
the Alan Sutherland Trophy, Mark Hibberd and Steve Rodgers were the two
men left standing, tied on 22 votes, with Jake Hollis and and John Leicester
some distance behind on 14 each.
Steve Rodgers doubled up for the all-rounders points-based award, the Daryl
Reynolds Trophy, with 682 points; John Leicester was second on 617 points
and Terry Hollis third on 521.
Joel Forster, in his rst season of senior cricketand playing with the C Grade,
won the Mark Sansome Fielding Trophy, not only topping our Club, but also
tied for rst place in the entire Association with 14 votes an astounding
achievement!
Brett Campbell won his third straight wicketkeepers trophy from Chris Badman
and Peter Berkshire.
Other awards given on the night included presentations for Brett Campbell and
Tim Harris victory in the Double Wicket Competition, as well as Tim Harris for
Best Club Person.
Undoubtedly the most important awards given were those of Life Membership
to Mitchell Park Cricket Club. These awards were given to Bob Pearce
(presented by Mark Sansome), John Forster (presented by Terry Hollis)
and Tim Harris (presented by Darren Adams), all worthy recipients for their
contributions to and representation of our great Club.

Dylan Pretty was outstanding in his rst year as President; his enthusiasm was
infectious and inspiring and he was surrounded by a long list of committee
members. Amongst others, Brett Campbell continues to sell countless rafe
tickets like nobody else can, Daniel Edwards keeps us informed of whats
happening in league meetings and forming the treasured season booklet,
Mark Sansome keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes as treasurer
, and Tim Harris helps out where he can. Outside of the committee, Darren
Adams runs the very professional-looking website and Jake Hollis - aka The
Sherriff - rounded up Club nes for dropped catches and ducks, as well as
helping out the committee in a number of other ways, and was always nearby
to lend a hand if required. Chanel Druszcz and Jess Hill worked endlessly to
run our canteen and provide meals at the end of rounds. They also raised
money for us by providing meals at Association functions and matches. Their
amazing volunteer efforts, along with those of Kathy Szepessy, can never be
underestimated. They are as valuable a part of this Club as any player, ofcial
or sponsor. Chanel also did an outstanding job collecting match payments and
recording the data.
Thank you again to all these people and others who continue to make Mitchell
Park Cricket Club a magnicent place to be a part of. Things are looking up
for us as we continue to build towards a great future, on the backs of great
volunteers and sponsors and the efforts of our surrounding community.

Founded 1922, joined ASCA 1942- 43
In its seventieth season with Adelaide and Suburban, Morphettville Park Cricket
Club elded four quality sides each match and won one premiership from three
nalists. The A-grade was competitive, blending winning cricket, ve wins and a
draw, with two losses to bottom four sides, thus costing them a deserved place
in the nals - after being in the top half of the ladder for most of the season. The
rise of our B-grade is evidence of how much stronger and more competitive
our club has become. After a semi-nal victory over the minor premier they lost
the grand-nal by four wickets to an A-grade side they had beaten earlier in the
season. They are the leading B-grade side in the competition. Our C-grade,
who nished third, also had to compete against A-grade sides in the nals.
They won nine games losing to the eventual premier in their semi-nal. A

bittersweet statistic is that they have played in semi-nals for six of the last
eight seasons, winning only once. The Fourth Eleven produced a team effort
every week losing only two matches. After struggling for so many seasons they
won our rst D-grade premiership and the clubs twenty-second, in only their
second nals series. Ross Brokenshas under-15 side also lost a tight SCJCA
grand nal. After no centuries last season we scored seven for only the fourth
time in our history, with at least one in every grade. 30 fties were also scored,
proving that there were players batting well in virtually every match of every
round. Further evidence of this seasons depth was that we used 71 players, 36
of whom aggregated a hundred runs or more. While some bowlers dominated,
all attacks had potency.
New captain Steven Thomas led the way for the A-grade with 538 runs: our
highest A-grade batting aggregate in a decade. It also won him the Association
Section 1 batting trophy. His top score of 169 is the second highest A-grade
innings in our history, just behind Jim Coulls 186 in 1944-45. Chad Franceschini
proved to be a valuable all-round recruit by scoring 356 runs. This was
highlighted when Chad was selected in the Association under-21 team. Reliable
support came from Kev Brokensha 206, Chris Spehr 189 plus 17 catches and
Ross Brokensha 174 runs and 13 catches. Two other recruits, Rob McCard 159
and reliable opener Rohan Prigg with 140 runs boosted the top order. Barton
Sweet 117, Scott Paterson 115 and Daniel Florance 97 completed a solid
batting line-up. Daniel and Chris Spehr shared the only century partnership.
The A-grades 363 runs against Coromandel is our second highest A-grade
score and their best since 1996-97.
Rob McCard supported his batting with 27 wickets including a best of 6/16,
while the honest and reliable Daniel Florance took 19. Into the wind bowler Paul
OLoughlin with 16 wickets supported the strike bowlers. The all-rounders did
well: Steven Thomas with 15, including the seasons best haul of 7/42, Chad
Franceschini 13 and Kev Brokensha with 12 wickets, added valuable support
to the main attack.
After a slow start to the season Grant Whellum totalled 392 runs to win his third
batting trophy. This included his maiden century of 137, after 3600 runs. Grant
was runner-up for the Section Two batting trophy. Captain Daniel Monro led by
example with the bat scoring 285 runs, while talented Bharat Roocke scored
262 and consistent Kym Woodward scored 241 top-order runs. Mark Nurney,
another new player, proved a valuable all-round contributor with 140 runs and
combined with Whellum for the seasons second best partnership of 152 runs in
a vital run-chase against Ramblers. Dion Gregory posted 135 well earned runs.
Andrew Hirschausen scored 94 runs and took 11 catches.
The bowling was dominated by three players taking 69% of the wickets. Michael
Barnetts 35 wickets: third in Section 2, a best of 6/29, four bags of ve; won
133
him his sixth consecutive bowling trophy. Bharat Roocke was the reliable foil to
Barny with 34 wickets, while the serviceable Rhett Weeks took 17. With support
from several other bowlers, they seldom had to chase big scores.
Danny Miller has always had all-round credentials, but this year he added to his
ve bowling trophies with his rst batting trophy by scoring 262 C-grade runs,
which included his maiden century. Mature age recruit Travis Hebbard with 206
runs became the rst player since 2006-07 to score two centuries in a season,
adding to his D-grade century with an even 100. Reliable old-stagers Jason
Crisp 191 runs, Geoff George 169 and captain Heath Culliver with 164 added
their usual stability to the batting line-up. Alan Bowman contributed 151 runs,
while ten catch slipper Mark Voyzey scored 139 and wicket-keeper Damien
Chesson got 109.
Like the Bs their bowling was dominated by three players. Perennial trier Les
Roach with 24 wickets, including the best haul of 6/38, won his second bowling
trophy after 307 wickets. Heath Culliver took 20 while old faithful Geoff Hardy
snared 12.
The D-Grade had a very even side with different contributors each match. Three
players scored centuries: Daniel Golding 115, yet another mature-age recruit
Pat Broadwood 110 not out and Travis Hebbard 115. Golding scored 265 runs,
Broadwood 241 at that average, while Hebbard, who also did well in for the Cs,
scored 124. Golding and Broadwood recorded the clubs best partnership for
the season with 180 runs. Experienced players Jess Keon 236 runs and Jack
Voyzey 228 combined with recruit Max OCallaghan 221, opener Mark Simons
162, captain Jarrod Robinson 152, Simon Cooper 113 and Mike Henley 109
runs to prove that this side batted well down. That was necessarily displayed
in both their nals.
Kane Landorfs consistency easily won the bowling trophy with 28 wickets
including a best of 5/41. Kanes total is the best for the D-grade since 1977-78.
Honest trier Mike Henley assisted with 16 wickets. Newcomer Rick Conway
snared 12, while ever-reliable Aaron Bloomeld grabbed ten. Andy Smith saved
his best for the grand nal to grab a ve wicket haul. The under and over bowled
wicket-keeper Jarrod Robinson, who got 14 dismissals behind the stumps, also
grabbed the clubs best bowling haul for the season with 7/30.
The leading elder for our club in the Association voting with eleven votes was
the young and athletic Ben Warne.
Several very successful social functions were held during the season particularly
the well attended Ladies and Sponsors Day and the reunion of players from
the 1991-92 triple premiership season. Also the function at our club after the A
grade match to present the inaugural David Lee Trophy that was unfortunately
lost to Western Youth Centre, was well attended by both clubs. Well done to
Peter Roach, Grant Whellum and their committee for a well organised and run

have a fth side. We have won six premierships in the last decade from all

The 2011/12 saw the North Haven cricket club eld 6 teams with over 110
players playing for the club.
It was a successful season for the club with the A grade winning the
premiership, the B grade coming runners up and our under 15 side taking
out the premiership.
A Grade: 8 wins 2 losses and a draw. Finished the minor round in second
position. Won the grand nal by 4 wickets.
In his second year at the club, Cohen Mattner took over the reins with
immediate success. He led the way with the bat scoring 566 runs @ 51.45,
including a hundred in 36 balls versus Keswick. Silver Fox Paul Devine 423

The Grand nal was a well fought out contest between Morphy Parks, the
game was still in the balance with 5 overs to go, but thankfully we got over
the line.
Well done to Cohen Mattner who won his second John Engelhardt medal.
B grade: 8 wins 3 losses. Finished the minor round in First position. Lost the
grand nal by 1 wicket.
Geoff Henry Buckets Lawson took charge of the B grade once again with
great success nishing on top, but just couldnt over the line against ICC.
Terry Moose Martin smashed 595 runs including 2 hundreds and the Skipper
himself 311 runs. The bowling honours again were taken by Ben Bunting
claiming 52 wickets, including 6 ve wicket hauls and 2 ten wicket hauls, the
captain again with 40 wickets and Moose with 27. Another nail biting grand
nal for the club, the boys nearly got over the line but ICC prevailed.
Congratulations to Terry Martin on winning the Tony Fromene Medal.
C grade: 3 wins 7 losses 1 draw. Finished the minor round in 9th position.
First year skipper Tony Ford enjoyed some success with a young side with
alot of promise.
He stepped up with bat to score 254 runs for the season, Darryl Broadbent
Hayden Bates both hitting 150+ for the year. 17 year old Mark Kouba led the
way with ball capturing 20 wickets with 2 ve wicket haul. The Alex Lewis
medal was won by Paul Wilson.
D grade: 3 wins 8 losses nished the minor round in 10th position.
Another rst year skipper Wayne Hall, never had a settled side, using 35
players, but they all had a dip and enjoyed the year.
Ethan Ericson who is 16 and only playing 4 games smashed 250 runs
including 190 against Western youth. Dave Walczac 179 and 14 year Wayne
Ericson 150.
With the ball Paul Wilson took 22 wickets and Matty Champagne Murnane
14 wickets.
Corey Ford dominated the elding. The Doug Fleming Medal was won by
Tony Ford.
E grade: Won 5 lost 6. Finished the minor round in 8th position.
Karl Quirk again put his hand up for captaincy. The side was competitive
throughout the year, but unfortunately didnt make the nals. The only man
to have a clothing sponsor, Alex Puma Staszuk, blasted his way to 386 runs
with Trent Payne 202. The bowling was a battle between seven players with
Jeff Williams annoying 10 batsman to take out the honours. Doug Fleming

This year was another mixed bag for the Rams, we started strongly beating
some high calibre teams but lost a few games that we should have won
leading to us just missing out on the nals. Still this is an impressive feat
for a team that had an average age of over 40 for most games. We all look
forward to improving on this with an average age of 41 next season.
The number one and two bowlers for the team were El Presidente Bob and Mr
Finger Paynter with 20 and 18 wickets respectively whilst BensonnEdges at
number 3, and close to a quarter of their combined age, managed a decent
18 wickets. These top three were followed, at a respectful distance, by Croz
(10) , Cam(8) and Temporary Party Shelter(5) and then there is the long tail of
small but signicant wicket taking performances. If only Cam was allowed to
bowl more there is no doubt that he would have taken 35 to 40 wickets and
we would have won the premiership.
When we failed, we failed big, and that seemed to be, unusually, with the
bat this year. Mr Finger topped the batting honour roll with some natty
hitting garnering him 292 runs at an average of 32.44. Bob then followed in
a different sort of number two position with a possible career best aggregate
of 191. The best single game performance of 117 and 7 sixes, taking the
Hammer trophy, was by the Wade, although after that performance we had

to ask him to leave and never embarrass us again. The Croz featured highly
at number 3 in the batting aggregate (142) with at least one game winning
innings and a hack score of 8 followed closely by the Cun (141) who loved
every minute of it. Colin cum lately contributed spectacularly and gritttily
in one particular game for a highscore of 58, nishing with an average of
79 which hopefully will bring him and his physio back for a full year next
season. Guy & Richie came 7th and 8th in the batting but disappointingly no
sightings of the Madonna were forthcoming. Hammer was missing a bit of
yammer with only 2 innings for 22. Big Ds form was betrayed by his stats
whilst Jamie teased us with a one time performance of 37.
The prestigious Padded Elbow elding trophy, proudly sponsored by
Nappy San, was taken out by Richi with a dive rating of 5.9 but was hotly
contended by RamBrant, MrMcCleary and the Cam. The battle for the COY
boys was a ding dong one but in the end The Finger triumphed with 602
magical points over the Bob.
So many others contributed I could go on and on, and I will; Poochie, Spleen,
TobyOne, Ted, Spleen, Banger, Bowie, Gav, Mini Spleen, Passenger, Bridger,
Heidi Drechscler and the Ferral Cat.
Thanks to all for continuing the tradition of the Rams making it an extremely
enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Long live the Rams and all
who sail in her.

played off in the grand nal. We unfortunately were beaten by two wickets in
a very tense and close encounter. Congratulations Western Youth Centre.
Congratulations to Danny Giersch on attaining player life membership of the
Association after having played over 250 games.
The B Grade captained by Paul Mitsigeorgis started well and at the
Christmas break was well situated and looked like participating in the
nals. After Christmas the side did not continue with its early form and only
managed one win in the New Year. At the end of the minor Paul announced
his retirement congratulations Paul on a magnicent career.
Craig Smith captained our C Grade and they managed three wins before
Christmas but like the B Grade failed to have a win in the New Year. The
number of changes from week to week made it difcult to settle a batting
line up.
Rik Morris captained our D Grade and to their credit they elded a full team
every game. This team provided the only century maker for the season (David
Mullighan) and a hat trick (Liam Golding). The team had mixed success but if
keenness is any guide they are winners.

The 28th season of St George Cricket Club saw the A grade nish minor premier
in Section 4 (10 wins 1 loss) bowing out in the semi nal with the B grade taking
7th position in Section with 6 wins and 5 losses. The re-establishing of the C
grade lost from the previous season never eventuated - short to medium term
the club looks to consolidate the A and B grades whose overall position looks
to be one of strength.
The A grade by most measures had an outstanding season but again at the
business end were found short. Years of cricket has taught us there is no
precise formula to winning ags but resilience at the club and individual level is
one criterion that may pay the ultimate dividend.
Congratulations to Scott Keeley for leading the side exceptionally well again,
leading the batting with 435 runs and scoring an undefeated century against
Morphettville Park III. Mikey Szczepanik (335), Layton Gould (326) and Michael
Haydon (312) also had outstanding seasons. On the way, Layton Gould and
Michael Haydon also reached their 2000 run milestone. James Walker won the
bowling trophy with 32 wickets and received tremendous backing from David
Baum (26), Nathan ONeil (23) and Andrew Broomhead (21). Andrew Broomhead
& David Baum picked up a 6 wicket hall while James Walker achieved a 5
wicket take. David Baum won the elding trophy while James Walker was voted
player of the year and nals. The Captains Medal was won by Nathan ONeil.
The B grade battled the season out well with some ne wins but would equally
disappoint with some crushing losses. Perhaps we saved our best to last with a
ne Round 11 win over nalists Hamilton. Paul Bradford won the batting trophy
with 289 runs and his 2000 run milestone while Kev Winning chalking up 260

- only modest offerings were found elsewhere. Bowling was hard work with
eventual trophy winner Chris Littleboy taking 20 wickets and Kevin Winning
(16) and Rajesh Kumar (15) providing some support. Kevin Winning completed
his 200th wicket for the club including a 6 wicket haul against Sheidow Park V,
Chris Littleboy completing a 5 wicket haul against Keswick III and in amazing
scenes Rajesh Kumar secured a hattrick against Western Youth Centre III - very
well done! The elding trophy was won by Chris Littleboy, player of
year to Kevin Winning and Rajesh Kumar being awarded the captains medal.
Many thanks to the efforts of Glynn Maloney in taking on the captains
role this season.
The signs of 2012-13 appear promising with both the A and B grades likely
to placed in Sections were they should be very competitive. Depth should be
improved by the return of some key players and again, the issue of players
taking responsibility for recruiting cannot be over emphasised.
Off the eld the club provides a very happy environment and is so unique in
its capacity to integrate players across a broad socio-economic spectrum and
is encouraging of all regardless of skill level. It is a tremendous attribute that
needs to be harnessed, maintained and enjoyed.
Thanks to Nathan ONeil for formulating the golden nuts days where club
members can ably demonstrate that cricket is not the only sport they are no
good at! I would like to thank the on-eld leaders and members of the committee
for their tireless efforts again this year. The club welcomed Rajesh Kumar,
Martin Frauenfelder, Jaiden Frauenfelder and Tony Wilson. All made notable
contributions; however, with only again 4 recruits we need to do better.
The Seven Stars Hotel provided generous sponsorship and we thank them for
their support, particularly at such late notice. They will be the Clubs major
sponsor in season 2012-13.
In line with the clubs continued agenda to play cricket in line with spirit of
the game the Spirit of Cricket Medal is again awarded. The criterion for the
medal is exceptional on-eld conduct that includes training. This years winner
is Richard Szczepanik. The Presidents Medal is awarded to Ashley Hunt for
his tremendous commitment and support to the club, particularly in securing
another grant that provides invaluable assurance to the clubs long term
nancial position. Finally, thanks to all 33 players who this year had a crack!

The 2011/12 season has been a curious mix of success and poor results. As
a committee, we have 2 basic charters consolidating the future of the club
through great planning and development and on eld success.
Off eld, we have had one of the most successful seasons in the history of
the club. The work done predominately by Mal Condon and Daniel Neal in
developing our major sponsorship program this year was superb.
The club shirts which provided great exposure for the club and our sponsors
were a visible and constant reminder of the broad reach that our club has in
our community. We have received many great pieces of feedback from our
sponsors and we thank all members and families for using our sponsors. As
we said all year, we dont want you spending more money, but spend your
money with those businesses who support us.
This was year one in a longer term program to help support our sponsors
businesses and greater nancial support to SPCC to further enhance our
nancial position.
Over the past few years, we have rebuilt the training facility at The Pit,
developed the Capella nets which is now predominately a community
facility, but a great back up if needed. We are also developing the ground
and pitch at The Pit which should be ready for next season. These activities
take considerable time and money and we have been incredibly successful
in obtaining government grants to support our activities.
One of the signicant reasons for our success in obtaining the grants
has been our progress towards becoming a Star Club. This is an ofcial
designation awarded to very few clubs by the ofce of Recreation and Sport
and recognises 5 key areas of a club:
1. Well Managed
2. Coaches and Ofcials
3. Volunteers Valued
4. Positive and Welcoming
5. Safe for All
These areas have a number of criteria under these headings which need
to be met to enable a club to be awarded Star Club status. SPCC are well
down the track and many components of the work have been completed,
particularly by Mal Condon, and the department have used this work as a
template for other clubs to follow.
As always, and we should never underestimate the amount of time and
energy that Galvy, Hargs and Fordy devote to this club. Their efforts every

week, almost every day, are unbelievable. Without these great people, we
simply would not have a club, let alone the great club that we know today
which is preserved by their drive and efforts day in, day out, year in and year
out. Thank you gentlemen.
As a group, the committee has done an excellent job in many areas however we
do need to address a number of off eld aspects in coming seasons.
Support for club social activities need to be improved. As you would expect,
we have a number of ideas for next year to enhance the social side of our
club which is so important and very much the fabric of our club but we need a
total commitment from all players, family members, both senior and juniors, to
maximise the enjoyment factor.
Our on eld performances were well short of expectations. We have maintained
a high level of performance for many years so to have only 1 side making the
nals in our home and away competition is simply not good enough.
We showed that our A Grade were capable of competing with the best for
times of a game and their performance all year in the 20/20 competitions were
extremely good. This culminated in winning the ASCA 20/20 Premiership.
Congratulations to Sam Foster for captaining this team and to all of our players
who contributed to this success from game 1 through the 3 competitions and
eventually to the Premiership.
From the junior perspective, we saw a great development in the kids cricket
skills and I would like to personally thank all of the mums and dads who
supported the coaches with scoring, catering, umpiring, training etc. Its not
always easy to get up early on a Sunday morning but we know the kids love it.
Garry Harding did a superb job in starting and driving the U17s this year and
their performances were commendable against much stronger teams and often
on turf pitches which was a new experience for many.
As a club, we need to revisit our on eld structure for next season so we will
plan for this and present options for our AGM.
Finally, thank you to our committee, captains, junior coaches and all volunteers
who worked tirelessly throughout the year. Most of the work goes unnoticed
and unrecognised but I can assure you all that you are the lifeblood of our
club.

drove us to a memorable season. We took strides in engaging our members
past and present generating much goodwill within our local community and
partners. An improved training environment and structure saw new and
existing players thrive in record numbers.
Through the success of our 2 major social functions, a T20 versus
Edwardstown Football Club and with the wonderful support of all our
stakeholders and friends; we were in the privileged position to donate over
$5,000 to the Movember, McGrath and Leukaemia Foundations. A small
contribution in the scheme of things, but an aspect of our club we can be
proud of and look to build in coming years.
We succeeded in our aspiration of elding 4 sides for the full season,
achieved by our hard working management and the proactive and inclusive
efforts of our captains, Adam, Nick, Luke and James. Special credit is
afforded to Anthony Ross as Chairman of Selectors, who transformed a
difcult, vital role into smooth and effective one for the club.
Our on-eld heights arrived in our restoration to Section 1 nals cricket and
participation in the ASCA T20 Tournament Grand Final. Congratulations to
Adam Willson and his sides for their achievements.
Nick Cruise was rewarded for his outstanding year as the SRCC Club
Champion with the ASCA Section 2 Bowling Award. Well done Adam Hartlett,
Anthony May and Shaun Krutli in representing the Senior Association side
with Anthony and Shaun going on to make the SAMCA Team of the Year.
Thank you to our wonderful supporters throughout 2011/12 Courtesy
Driving School, Nelsons Fresh Express, Vertex Scaffolding, Internode,
Captain Chicken and the Edwardstown Football Club.
Driven by our desire for ongoing improvement coupled with our responsibilities
to serve our community and members South Road embarks on a period
of continuing growth over 2012/13. Much progress is to be made and we
meet these exciting challenges head on in honour of our rich history and the
individuals that have given so much over our 73 year journey.
Good luck to all who bowl or strike a ball in anger in our great game over
the coming season.

Season 2011-12 was all in all a successful season for the Southern Cricket
Club. The A Grade nished the minor round in 2nd position, unfortunately
losing the Section 3 Semi Final to ICC Sharks.
The top order had a strong season with plenty of useful contributors, Paul
Karittevlis leading the way with 2 centuries and 3 fties for a total of 529
runs. Thanks to our new A Grade Captain, Chris Thredgold.
Our B Grade had a mixed season in the new 7 + 7 competition.
They had chances to make the Finals had one or two results gone our way.
Well done Lincoln, Jason, and Simon for all your work in the Bs.

WARRADALE CRICKET CLUB
Club colours : green & gold
Founded 1979/80
Warradale Cricket Club had limited success in its 33rd season with the A
Grade winning only 3 games in Division 2 to nish 9th, the B Grade yet
again battling to compete in Division 3 to nish second bottom for the fourth
successive season and the C Grade the only highlight to make the semi nal
to end in 3rd position.
The A grade unfortunately lost some key players and had a series of injuries
during the season resulting in difculties in making winning scores. We won
2 of the rst 3 games, including a good win against semi-nalist Morphy
Parks in Round 3. However, in that game captain Kristian Sarge Schultz
was concussed and badly injured when he went for a quick single and
spectacularly but accidently crashed into the bowler. He missed the next 5
games. We were competitive in all games with the bowlers doing well but
the batsmen mostly struggled from Round 4 we made 6 scores between
107 and 166 which was not enough. Vice Captain Wes Lipsett won his 3rd
successive batting trophy whilst outswing bowler Rowan Williams in his rst
A Grade season not only won the bowling trophy but also pulled of the
prestigious Cricketer of the Year, much to his only amazement. Josh Deniet
emerged as an outstanding young talent with 16 wickets and 129 runs.
The B Grade battled extremely hard but, similar to the A Grade, simply could
not make enough runs an average score of 151 was insufcient. We won
the rst and last game but had no victories in between. However, we did
not give up in any game and did not lose any game outright and in fact won
the last game outright against a young Sheidow Park team. The Cs were
well led by Dave Palmer who won his fourth club elding trophy (a record)
as well as the batting trophy. Dave hit great form at the end of the season
with 86* and 78 and wished the season could have gone on. Ash Marshall
won the bowling trophy and was runner up to the Cricketer of the Year for
an incredible 6th time (to go with his two wins). Nineteen year old pace
bowler Jacob Matthews improved astronomically during the season to take
20 wickets. Early season he bowled too short and got belted around but
learnt the value of pitching the ball up after Christmas to yield a remarkable
turnaround in results.
The C Grade, under veteran Andrew Winner Conley, made the nals for
the 2nd time in 3 seasons. Winner became an early season media star when
the Messenger Press published a huge half page article on his amazing run
spree of 0 (how did that get in there!), 163*, 68*, 16, 30* and 120* - 397 runs
@ 198.5. Winner won his 3rd successive batting trophy and Joel Wilkin won
156
his 10th bowling trophy, his rst in C Grade (3 A Grade, 6 B Grade). Wilkin
was well backed up by George, Truscott, Green (all 16 wickets), erce left
armer Huckstepp (15 wickets) and leg spinner Browne (11 wickets).
By making partnership of 238* in Round 2 vs South Road, Winner Conley
(163*) and Grant Craigie 109*) broke the all time wicket record of 228* held
since 1982/83 by Brian Conroy and Bob Noble.
The most outstanding achievement of the season occurred when Peter
Shoe Hughes played his 300th game in Round 4, the 3rd Warradale player
to do so. By season end Shoe had played 243 games in succession and has
not missed a game since Round 1 in 1991/92, an incredible 21 seasons. He
played 300 out of a possible 302 games. As a hard hitting batsman Shoe has
scored 6076 runs @ 21 with 3 centuries, 27 fties and 40 sixes. Shoe holds
the club record for (1) the most number of eld catches of 156, mostly in the
slips and some in the outeld and (2) the most number of ducks 37! Shoe
is the Club Statistician and has been the major contributor to the famous
WCC Year Books since 1991/92. Shoe spent the equivalent of 6 months full
time in 1991 creating a software program, inputting data from every game,
including every scoring stroke and every over ever bowled. As a result we
have 200 tables of statistics in every WCC Year Book and we believe the
best records of any club in the universe.
Two players thoroughly deserved being awarded Life Memberships of the
Club. David Brown, the 17th Life Member - 18 seasons, 166 games, 1829
runs, 271 wickets, 66 catches (5 as keeper), 2 premierships, 3 years on
Management Committee, 7 years Chair of Selection Committee, 3 years as
D Grade Captain and 4 years as C Grade Vice Captain, 7 C and D Grade
bowling trophies and 9 other trophies.
Medium pace bowler, solid middle order batsman, good gully eldsman.

grade), 3181 runs, 30 wickets, 43 catches as a eldsman, 78 caught &
8 stumped as keeper, 2 Cricketer of the Year Awards, 1 A Grade batting
trophy, 1 Club allrounder trophy one A Grade premiership, 3 years on
Management Committee, 2 years as A Grade Captain and 7 years as A
Grade Vice Captain, 2 Outstanding Service Awards, 3 years on Management

WESTERN YOUTH CENTRE CRICKET CLUB
Club Colours: Green and Gold
Founded: 1961
Our club celebrated its 50th year this year in great style with the A grade winning
the grand nal and completed only our second back to back premierships in
our history. The rst time since the 1985/86 season. We conrmed our position
as a very good side and one that other clubs strive to beat. Hopefully this is
something we can start to have lter down the grades and become an even
stronger club.
We had a fantastic celebration of the clubs 50 years in September 2011 with
over 150 attending the night which saw people who helped found the club to the
current people involved with the club share their stories. Mark Whenan, Craig
Hossack, Mike Hossack, Steve Rechner, Steve Baily and Barry Luke did a great
job of making the night a success with their planning for the 2 years prior to the
night. The club also had a team of the rst 50 years and thankfully we were able
to have 10 of the 11 players present on the night.
Robbie Hopkins led the A grade superbly again this year, his efforts with both
bat and ball led the way in a positive manner which certainly made the side feel
as though anything was possible from any position within a game. We showed
our depth is improving with more debutants in the A grade this year and those
players showed us they were capable of the step up which will hold us in good
stead for the future.
Thomas Fiebiger had the task of leading the b grade this year and did a fantastic
job by having them nish 5th for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. He led the side
well and with a bit of luck would have had his side playing nals. He, along with
Glenn and Lee, felt the impact of the unavailability of people from the higher
grades throughout the year and this no doubt had a signicant impact on where
they nished. Glenn Butler, took on the task of the C Grade captaincy after the
original appointment of Bill Likos had to call it a day due to work commitments.
Glenn did the job well and despite the large turnover of players managed to
improve the sides fortunes from last season in section 4. Lee Fuller again had
the job of the D grade captaincy and despite going up a section due to their
158
Grand Final nish last year competed well in all games with a very mixed side of
kids and elder statesmen.
Our efforts in the T20 this year were semi nalists in the ASCA T20 comp and we
were knocked out in the rst round of the SAMCA cup competition.
Neville Linke again stepped up to help co-ordinate the junior program again
this year and certainly improved the system from what we had last year. Craig
Hossack, John Foster-Borg and Jayne Allen also contributed signicantly to the
improvement of our junior program. I hope we can continue to get more helpers
for our junior cricket as it is the future of our club. To all the coaches who worked
hard throughout the year I congratulate you on the work you did this year and
look forward to you doing the same next year.;
Well done to all who helped on the semi and grand nal weekends to ensure we
had food to sell and whilst at it made the club a few dollars.
Our sponsors have continued to be of great support for the club; however we
are always looking for more so if you know a business that may be interested
please speak to either Jayne or myself. Adelaide Airport has continued their
association with the club and we are very grateful of it. West Adelaide Football
Club has once again been the clubs major sponsor and venue for our after match
presentations. We welcomed Hyde Park Press and Pete Lianos as sponsors this
year and we look forward to a continuing relationship with both of them.
The committee has again, in the main, worked hard for the benet of the club
and I look forward to those efforts continuing into the future. Thanks must also
go to Kevin Joseph and the WYC management for their support throughout
the year,
To all trophy winners congratulations on a superb year. Well done to Richard
Press on the cricket of the year award a superb effort and I am glad our 50th
dinner got you across the line to play again. Well done to John Foster-Borg and
Jayne Allen who are worthy recipients of the best clubman awards. Tom Fiebiger
is a worthy recipient of the Presidents trophy his efforts in all aspects of the club
are invaluable and I hope he continues with his efforts for years to come.
Lets all work hard to make the club as successful in the next 50 years as it has
been in its rst 50! 36 Club premierships in the rst 50 years and 16 of those
being A Grade ags isnt going to be easy to beat in the next 50 years though.

Established 2001
Woodcroft Cricket Club had another fairly successful year, with our A Grade
runners up in the section four nal. We had a very consistent season being
around the top four for most of the season in a tight competition.
Our players all had even years with no one letting the side down and
performing to high standards. There we had a few notable performances
over the year from Simon Reeves bowling extremely well and taking out
our bowling trophy. Also in a tight tussle Steve Wilson eventually won the
batting trophy. We look forward to another successful year in 2012-2013 and
hopefully taking out another premiership. Thank you to all the supporters
and players for their effort and we look forward to the coming year.
Woodcrofts B Grade had a fairly disappointing season with only one win for
the season. This can be attributed to players not being available all year and
when we did have a full side we didnt perform to our ability.
We did have a number of great performances especially a two hundred from
Luke Goldner who took out the batting and bowling trophies and won the
club champion award.
Adrian Hill, Mark Moriarty, Bob Wheatley and Rick Wheatley were also
consistent however the rest of our side were in and out of the game, in
saying this, if our side performs consistently we should have an improved
season next year. Thanks to all the players and supporters for all their
efforts, also thanks to Peter Ryan for placing the scores each week and we
look forward to success next season. Special thanks to our major sponsor
Woodcroft Tavern for their continual support.
