Wires Routing
You are going to import a harness and a functional system definition and then you will route the signals using the knowledgeware capabilities of EWR.

Step 1: Importing the harness and the functional definition


1. Open the file CATEWR_GBN_ASSEMBLY.CATProduct. If not done yet, select the workbench Electrical Assembly Design. 2. Select the function Connect Electrical Devices. 3. Select the connection face on the male connector. Select the connection face on the female connector. Both harnesses must be connected now. 4. Select the function Insert / Existing Component 5. Select the file CATEWR_FUNCTIONAL_DEFINITION.CATProduct 6. Select the root product. The functional system is below the root product in the product structure.

Step 2: Mapping the connectors


1. For each connector : a. Select the function Add Functional Link b. Select the functional connector below the functional system product in the product structure. c. Select the corresponding physical connector (the graphical view or on the product structure) 2. Select a functional connector. 3. Select the function Related Object. You can now visualize the links between the objects.

Step 3: Routing the signals


1. Select the Electrical Wire Routing workbench. 2. Select the function New Bundle. 3. Click on the field Connected To. 4. Select the CATEWR_GBN1 geometrical bundle. 5. Select the function New Bundle one more time. 6. Click on the field Connected To 7. Select the CATEWR_GBN2 geometrical bundle. 8. Select the function Select Signal.

9. Click on the button All. Every signals in the list is selected. 10. Click on Ok. 11. Select the function Automatic Routing. The wires and the wires connections are created below the electrical bundles in the product structure. You will notice that every wires are routed. 12. Select the function Tools / Export Wires 13. Select the electrical bundle Electrical Bundle1 14. Select a place where you could store the new csv file. 15. Click on Ok. You may visualize and/or edit the csv file using Microsoft Excel, or a text editor.

Step 4: Modify the compatibility table


1. Open the file COMPATIBILITY_TABLE.TXT with a text editor. 2. Modify the compatibility rules by removing a few BNS compatible with the signals.

3. Delete the wires and try to route the signals again.

Step 5: Connections Management


1. Select the signal Command Signal2. A splice should appear.

2. Select the function Move Connection. 3. Select the splice graphical view. 4. Select a bundle segment and click on Ok.

Step 6: Extremities Management


1. Select the function Extremity Management 2. Select a connector whether the geometrical view or on the product structure. 3. Connect the wires to the terminations or to the contacts. Notice that if you are working with the inline connector, you might see the connector both sides.

Reservations Mapping
You are going to import a harness and a functional system definition and then you will route the signals using the knowledgeware capabilities of EWR.

Step 1: Import the pathways and the functional definition


1. Open the file CATEWR_SSR_EXO.CATProduct 2. Import the file CATEWR_FUNCTIONAL_DEFINITION.CATProduct by using the command Insert / Existing Component 3. Select the workbench Electrical Wire Routing

Step 2: Connectors mapping


For each connector : 1. Select the function Map with reservation 2. Select a physical connector (the geometrical representation or on the product structure) 3. Select the corresponding functional connector on the product structure.

1. Select the function New Bundle. 2. Click on Ok. 3. Double click on the new electrical bundle in order to make it active. 4. Select the function Select signals 5. Click on All. 6. Click on Ok. 7. Select the function Automatic Routing
