    Season: Issue Twelve

    For round thirteen of the Capital Football season the Waterside Sealords
    returned to their spiritual home for the first time this season. The Cage or as the Wellington City Council insist on calling it, Wilton Park, holds many great Sealords memories, including Captain Drysdales goal from halfway against Petone a few years back or Luke Cartmell-Gollan watching the ball sail over his head into the goal after being chipped from ten yards after he had begged to go in goal. Apologies for the lack of a Fever last week, no Sealords game, no Fever! Enjoy, Paddy

    Sealords vs Petone The Cage 29.06.13


    After two losses in a row it was now or never for the Sealords to get their season back on track and what better place to do it than the Sealords spiritual home, The Cage. Welcomed to The Cage would be Petone for Shore who the Lords had last played back in round two. That time the Lords had come away with a hard fought one-nil victory, so Manager Drysdale was looking for something a little more compelling this time around. As the 2013 injury crisis continues to strike, the Lords were down to a paper-thin match day squad of thirteen, which included the returning Captain Drysdale after his injury break. The match started off where the last game between the Lords and Petone left off, with both sides playing good football and creating a number of chances without ever creating anything serious. Up front, returning for his second appearance of the season, Aaron Cashie McCash was creating problems for the Petone defence but when first blow came it would come from old Sealord warhorse Jonny Tim Wild. As Captain Drysdale was looking down the bank for the match ball, Jonny was weaving some magic up on the pitch. After a run from left back, he launched a majestic ball into the path of Phil Netherlands OCallaghan who pulled the trigger with real panache to put the Lords ahead. From then on the Lords really started to take control of the game and when they hit the sheds at halftime Manager Drysdales message was simple, keep it up. Playing like a man possessed Cashie was chomping at the bit and took that energy straight into the second half. Petone kicked off and Cashie was instantly after the ball putting the Petone midfielder under enormous pressure and then expertly dispossessing him to launch the attack. He skipped

    Dan Haircut White Born: Wellington Position: Creative-midfield Favourite team: Arsenal

    Player: past one defender before tunneling a massive hole between the Lewis Hensman Petone centre-back and left back before placing the ball past the Beer: keeper and into the net with expert precision. The keg from the Less than a minute into the second half and the Lords were midseason party up two-nothin! And despite the Lords controlling the rest of the game that was how it would finish. Not helped by the last twenty Band/Musician: minutes of the second half where the Lords were reduced to Queens of the Stone Age rotating three strikers who could barely walk between them. Man of the Match went to Cashie after his wonder goal and Movie: all round top performance up front. Jonny Wild took out second Trainspotting spot with his assist and strong defensive showing.
