Competencies and Performance Standards 1. Demonstrate Beginning Level II conversation in sign. Learning objectives What you will learn as you master the competency: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. Demonstrate and comprehend common single phrase sentence structures. Perform an additional sign vocabulary of 200 signs (additional to requirements of ASL 101). Describe, demonstrate, and recognize four modulation patterns (facial expression, sign tension, temporal movement, mouth movements). Respond correctly to questions. Define conceptual accuracy and provide examples. Carry on a conversation in American Sign Language at the Beginning II level. Demonstrate basic mapping and giving directions. Communicate information, express ideas, and accomplish tasks. Develop active and passive vocabulary.
Performance Standards Competence will be demonstrated: o o o o o o o 2. in conversation. in the completion of assignments and activities. in the completion of unit tests. learner converses ten minutes with the instructor using vocabulary at the Beginning II level. learner gives a five minute presentation in front of the class on a topic pertaining to American Sign Language. learner participates in classroom discussions, activities and games. learner signs using correct patterns, posture, placement, and rhythm.
