upgrading from FA1500/1528 IDU RFU RFU 1500HP/1500SP ODC Software RFU Firmware Mib File Linkpilot version
MIB Linkpilot
Software upgrade procedure is detailed further this document (refer to sec 13). Notes regarding ODU versions: The 1500P IDUs can work with Sagem Link A1500 ODUs and 1500P ODUs. There are different SW versions for the different ODUs. When upgrading an ODU, file with the extension ".odu" should be selected when the ODU is connected to a Sagem Link A1500/1528 IDU and file with the extension ".odn" should be selected when connected to a 1500P IDU. 1500HP RFUs can be connected only to 1500P IDUs. 1500HP RFUs have ODC software and RFU firmware versions. 1500P 11GHz The 1500P 11GHz ODU requires O5.52g SW file. This version is specifically for the 11GHz ODU. As all 11GHz 1500P ODUs are shipped from the factory with O5.52g, no need for software upgrade in any case.

6. New Features
The new features refer to the previous Regenerator NSV: IDC 4.60b72/73 from Dec 2005. Main features are explained in details further this document (see sec 12). # 1 SFD Feature Description/Notes Single File Download. Simple software download process using a single file containing the different SW and FW versions and configuration scripts. 2 3 DIR Error counter in loopback mode User Channel support Display of the files stored in the IDC. Error counter (defected blocks) was added for the IDU (IF) and ODU/RFU (RF) loopback for real-time monitoring of Rx status. New IDC HW: V.11 Asynchronous (up to 19200 baud) RS-232 Asynchronous (up to 19200 baud). V.11 Synchronous Co-Directional (64Kbps) V.11 Synchronous Contra-Directional (64Kbps) 5 New modem configurations (MRMC) Unified versions for 1500HP and 1500SP RFUs 1540W (155 Mbps, 32QAM) 4440 (DS3, QPSK) 1500HP has RFU SW and FW (FPGA) 1500SP has RFU SW only (no FW)
Important note! With this release new IDM HW is released to comply with ROHS requirements. The RoHS directive (European Union directive 2002/95/EC) stands for the Restriction Of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. The new IDM HW requires this NSV release loaded on the IDC. New HW IDMs are clearly marked with label on IDM front panel: "Requires STM1/OC3/DS3 SW 4.95s19 or above".

7. Modified Features
# 1 2 Feature Compression of IDC For disk space files "Loss of Protection" alarm [Internal Protection configuration only] 3 4 Unified Modem-IF board DC power switch "Loss of Protection" alarm is raised when one IDM is powered off or ejected. Alarm severity = Warning. Origin = IDC. Carrier LED = Yellow. Alarm clears when IDM is powered on or protection mode is disabled. SW support for internal hardware design change (functionality not affected). New DC input power switch without a latch. Press and hold for two seconds to power on/off the IDM. Description/Notes

9. Limitations
# 1 2 Limitation Description/Notes
Set default configuration Hard reset required 1540 - 155Mbps over Applicable for new IDMs sent from SAGEM only. 40MHz channels Upgrade of units already in the field needs to be verified with SAGEM (depends on Modem board version). Protection configuration changes Frequency change of remote ODU System resets Wait 3 minutes after changing protection configuration before coping configuration between IDMs ("Copy to Mate" commands) Cannot change remote ODU frequency in XPIC mode with 1500P ODUs. Workaround: change remote ODU frequency first. Wait 2 minutes between IDM and IDC reset in order to allow full power-up sequence
5 6
Longer system up time Power up with 2 IDMs 2 minutes. due to disk-on-chip unzip Power up with one IDM 2:30 minutes. and integrity check SW reset 2 minutes. 3128 2U - power down to IDC SW reset is required an IDM will not initiate a "Mate Configuration Mismatch" alarm Reset push-button disabled ODU/RFU reset after SW upgrade using SFD SW reset the IDC using Linkpilot or eject the IDC The ODU/RFU upload is followed by ODU reset that we'll cause service disruption of ~20 seconds. This cannot be disabled when using the SFD. Compared to 100m for 1500P/SP Adjacent Channel Co Polarization Every MRMC with Occupied BW < 30.5MHz is supported For MRMCs with occupied BW between 24MHz to 30.5MHz
