Intel IOP303 I/O processor 64bit/66MHz PCI interface RAID levels 0, 1, 4, 5, 10 2 Channel, Ultra160 SCSI (160 Mbytes/second per channel) Battery Backup Unit (provides up to 72 hours of reserve power to the memory subsystem with 64 MB of SDRAM installed) Online RAID level migration and capacity expansion without reboot Array roaming Hot plug PCI support Instant availability and background initialization Automatic rebuild with dedicated or pooled hot spares Variable strip size per array Non disk drive support (tape, cd-rom, etc.) 64-256 MB of ECC SDRAM Read/write controller and disk drive cache SAF-TE, SES and configurable JBOD enclosure support Hot-plug drive support blocks. The controller combines Intel's innovative RAID software suite with the Intel IOP303 I/O processor. The controller is prevalidated to enable developers to speed the release of RAID products for a wide variety of value-priced workstation and server platforms. The BZU32 controller provides the throughput of Ultra160 SCSI at 160 Mbytes/second per channel. Support for RAID levels 0, 1, 4, 5, and 10 enables OEMs to offer customers a choice of RAID options with flexible levels of performance and fault tolerance. For example, RAID 0 offers performance by striping data across multiple disks without redundancy. RAID 1 requires a minimum of two disks and mirrors the data to provide full data redundancy. RAID 10 takes the attributes of RAID 0 and RAID 1 and combines them to provide the highest level of availability and performance. RAID 5 is an economical solution that helps balance storage cost, performance and data protection. For improved disk storage system performance, high data availability and optimum server uptime, the Intel Integrated RAID Controller BZU32 provides advanced RAID capabilities that were previously available only in high-end controllers. Features include PCI hot plug, online capacity expansion and online RAID level migration-all available without rebooting or powering down the system. For uninterrupted data access, the

Product Overview Intels high performance and affordably priced Integrated RAID Controller BZU32 makes intelligent RAID an even more cost-effective option for servers. For system designers, this means that the data protection and system-level reliability of RAID is now available at a price that can help drive higher attach rates and generate new revenue. The two channel BZU32 adds exceptional performance and expandablity to the Intel Integrated RAID controller family. With the BZU32 controller, OEMs can offer their small and mid-size business customers the benefits of a pre-validated dual channel RAID controller that supports the latest in SCSI technology, with the performance, scalability and manageability of Intel RAID building
Product Overview (continued) controller also supports hot-plug drives, hot spares, and automatic rebuild capability. The BZU32 also includes extensive operating system support (see OS support list below) while maintaining a common user interface. The BZU32 supports out of the box set-up to help users get up and running fast. Intel's RAID Storage Console allows users to configure and maintain the RAID subsystem using a character oriented interface running on all operating systems or a GUI running on Windows based systems. Intel delivers all these benefits in a cost-effective configuration that increases the performance and reliability of server systems. Hardware
