Ancient China By: Angie Gamal Yousry

Around 4ooo B.C


First ancient Chinese civilization started on the Huang He Yellow River. Many Chinese people focused on farming and raising crops. Whenever the river flooded it provided very special farming soil silt called loess.

2000-1500 B.C
Bronze Age of china was beginning many Chinese people have discovered the use of bronze and have started to make bronze tools instead of their normal stone tools. Agriculture and living process also began to rise and improve along the Huang He river homes and settlements were being built. The rose of the populations helped make new dynasties like the Shang Dynasty.

Around 2000 B.C


As settlements began to be built, the Chinese dynasty Xia (shyah) became very popular. The leader of this dynasty was an engineer and mathematician named Yu. He built irrigation systems for flooding when it occurred so it could help allow the city to grow and expand.

From Around 1532-1027 B.C


The Shang Dynasty ended, it became one of the first family of Chinese people to leave behind Chinese written records and oracles. During this time period the earliest writing was being done. Also ancient China began developing its military and began using horses and chariots.

Anyang
Anyang was one of the popular cities in Shang Dynasty before it crumbled. Anyang was built from wood. The city was sounded by earth walls.

Family and Society


Chinese people respected the elderly, king and parents very well. Women were inferiors. They got married from the age of 13-16 and were to obey their husbands, father and later sons.

Writing
Chinese people wrote on the oracle bones which were animal bones. In Chinese writing each symbol meant an idea. Good thing is anyone can learn this language. Bad thing is there are lots of characters to memorize.

Social Classes
In the Shang Dynasty the people were divided into 2 classes Peasants and Nobles. Nobles were the warrior people who were under the command of the king. Their families owned piece of land. They lived in timber homes made of clay and sticks in the city. Peasants were farmers, people who tiled soil and grow crops. They lived in hovels outside the city.

Religion
People of china believed that their fathers ancestors had the power to bring disaster or good things. They were worshiped by the Chinese people. Also the people used Oracle bones to speak to the gods.

Technology and Art


In china those who made art and created special crafts where put I a separate type of group of people. They live outside the wall of the city. The built weapons, jewelry, religious tool and multiple bronze sculptures for the nobles.
