> See enginering evaluation of Hastelloy, titanium, zirconium and Tantaline in hot sulfuric acid
Tantaline has proven to be the most reliable material available for hot sulfuric acid corrosion media.
The corrosion rate of Tantaline in sulfuric acid is negligible in any concentration from 0 to 99% up to a temperature of at least 150C.
In sulfuric acid at temperatures above 150C the corrosion rate of Tantaline will have to be considered, but the corrosion rate of Tantaline in high temperature sulfuric acid is magnitudes
Case Studies
lower than the corrosion rates of Hastelloy, titanium and zirconium. Tantaline has been applied sucessfuly for more than 15 years in critical customers applications.
Table: Corrosion Performance and Relative Cost of Materials in Sulfuric Acid at Concentrations from 10 to 90% and Temperatures of 50, 100 and 150C
Tantaline offers a chemical performance equal to tantalum at prices similar to nickel alloys having an absolutely unique performance/cost ratio compared to other solutions in titanium, nickel alloys, zirconium and tantalum. As can be seen from the table above Tantaline has superior performance over niobium, zirconium and nickel based alloys at a lower relative price.
Tantaline offers a large standardized product range including valves, thermowells, fittingsand fasteners for sulfuric acid service. Tantaline JobShop may further be used for customer specific design for heat exchangers, heaters, coolers, reactors and pump parts for sulfuric acid applications.
Tantaline offers real solutions to your most challenging corrosion demands in sulfuric acid.
