Fault Current Calculation

This document contains instructions and a template for calculating available fault current at different points in an electrical system. It provides steps to calculate the utility fault current, fault current at the service equipment, and fault current at a panel and branch circuit by inserting information about the transformer rating, impedance, conductor lengths and sizes, and other system specifications. The calculated fault currents are three-phase RMS symmetrical short-circuit currents.
