14 Paving
Part I.
GENERAL
Please check the Section B1: Concrete for general condition PART II. EXTERNAL BOOMED FINISH CONCRETE PAVING A. B. Provide and lay external concrete paving to extent as nominated on the drawings and the Finishes Schedule. Lay concrete on plastic waterproof membrane as specified for concrete floor slabs.
C. Lay welded steel mesh (5mm diameter steel wire to form 100mm square grid) reinforcement between control joints, support reinforcement to position top of reinforcement 30mm below top of paving. D. Concrete shall have a maximum aggregate size of 14mm and include quarry dust (grade N15). Lay concrete 75mm thick and screed off to falls and finish with a steel trowel unless otherwise nominated on the drawings. Form tooled V joints in paving evenly spaced at intervals not exceeding 1500mm apart. Broom across the paving with a stiff broom to produce a coarse grained texture. E. Provide 12mm wide control joints in paving evenly spaced at intervals not exceeding 6 meters apart. Set into control joints a backing of 15mm diameter closed cell polyethylene strip. Set strip back sufficient distance so that sealing compound will finish flush with paving. Seal control joints with a polysulphide or polyurethane based sealing compound. Depth of sealing compound shall not exceed the width of the joint. Color of sealing compound shall blend with color of concrete. Where Polly sulfide sealing compounds are used, coat surfaces of concrete in contact with sealing compound with a sealer recommended by the sealing compound manufacturer. Apply sealer and non-slip sealer to concrete paving as specified in Section Y Painting and to extent as nominated on the drawings and the Finishes Schedule.

PART III. EXTERNAL CONCRETE PAVING A. B. Provide and lay external concrete paving to Walkways, tiled areas, around swimming pool and the like to extent as nominated on the drawings and the Finishes Schedule. Lay concrete on plastic waterproof membrane as specified for concrete floor slabs.

PART IV. CONCRETE ROOF SCREED Provide and lay concrete screed on top of Waterproof roof membranes to thickness and details shown on Architectural Drawings. PART V. ANTI -TERMITE TREATMENT A. SCOPE: 1. Apply chemical anti-termite treatment to soil within areas enclosed by external walls and at a distance of one meter out from external walls. Form and maintain a continuous termite barrier in accordance with AS.2057. 2. Refer to Carpentry Section for clause relating to termite treatment against dry wood termites. A. PREPARATION Moisten the surface immediately prior to treatment. Do not commence treatment before completion of excavations, filling, leveling and grading. Retreat areas are saturated or when erosion can occur before the treatment is protected. If the whole area cannot be treated in one operation, clearly mark the area first treated and overlap this area with later treatment by at least 1m. B. Chemical Application Apply Wazari 10 FW Termiticide or equal approved emulsion to areas as nominated above. Apply emulsion by spray at the rate of 4-6 liter per sq. meter. Application of treatment shall be carried out in strict accordance with the manufacturers best recommendations.
