Today, I receive all of Gods love for me.

Today, I open myself to the unbounded, limitless, overflowing abundance of Gods universe. Today, I open myself to Gods blessings, healing, and miracles. Today, I open myself to Gods Word so I would become more like Jesus every day. Today, I proclaim that I am Gods beloved, I am Gods servant, I am Gods powerful champion. And because I am blessed, I am blessing the world. In Jesus name. Amen.

CENTURIES ago, we used to hunt our food. Till our soil. Plant our farms. Harvest our produce. Yep, our ancestors used their muscles constantly. Today, the most strenuous thing we do is tap our phones. Type on our computers. And press buttons on the elevator. (People also jump to conclusions and carry a grudge.) Face it. You sit down for long stretches of the day. Every day! Sure, you might get up to go to the restroom, water cooler, and canteen. But thats it. Your muscles pay the price for this constant

Old, Weak, Frail People At 50!

sitting. Your joints get stiff. Your muscles get weak. And this is not because of age! Its simply because youre not using your muscles. Heres a law of the universe: What you dont use, you lose. Havent you noticed? People are getting old at a young age. Heres a fact: When you hit 50 years old, you lose 1.5% of your muscle mass every single year. Thats scary. This is the reason you find old people who cant even lift a glass of water. They simply allowed their muscles to atrophy because they didnt use them. Have an energetic Feast today! May your dreams come true, BO SANCHEZ

LAST WEEK

Eat Gods Food and Be Healed!

By BO SANCHEZ
Following are excerpts from Talk 2: Eat of the new series, The Biggest Winner

FR. ALEX BALATBAT said last Sundays Gospel focused on our mission while we are still on Earth. He shared the story of a mother whose son passed away. Fr. Alex celebrated the funeral Mass. The mother did not join the funeral rites, following their family culture that mothers should not join such rites. The day after the burial, Fr. Alex was surprised to see the mother working in the garden instead of grieving.

The Lords Ascension

She told him, I am thankful that I had time to be with my son before he died. It is useless to spend the day crying. Im still alive, and I need to work for my other children and grandchildren. Fr. Alex pointed out we should have the same mindset. After a trial, we must be ready to move on and attend to what we still have to do. In the Gospel, we read that the angel told the disciples-- who were looking up as Jesus ascended into heaven-- not to worry because Jesus did not really leave them. They still had work to do, and Jesus would send them the Holy Spirit to guide them in their mission. We also still have a mission. The Feast of the Ascension is Jesus way of saying, I believe in you. Dont worry. I will come back, and we will be together in Heaven. Fr. Alex concluded that if we want to be in Heaven, now is the time to practice living the life in Heaven. With the guidance of Christ, this world can already be like Heaven. -- Bella Estrella

HERES my main message: Eat Gods Food and Be Healed! Because food should be your medicine. How do I know? Because thats what the Bible says Daniel 1:11-15 Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food. So he agreed to this and tested them for ten Step 1: Fruitify Your Breakfast The key is to eat your fruits on an empty stomach and NOT to eat anything else with themfor at least an hour after eating the fruits. Dont drink water for an hour, either, so you wont dilute the digestive fluids. I follow the Bible where God said, I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food. (Genesis 1:29) 5 Wonderful Gifts That Fruits Give Us The best time to eat a fruit isnt after a meal, but before you eat anything. Reason: Because fruits are easy to digest, they get stuck there somewhere in the conveyor belt of your digestive track, waiting for the other more-difficult-todigest food to get digested. Fruits bless your body in five beautiful ways. 1. More Water. Because fruits consist of 80% water. Yes, just like the human body. And fruits contain the best water.

days. At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. Daniel and his three friends, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego, were the healthiest, most handsome guys in the gang. The Daniel Program works! Why? Because health isnt primarilly about medicine. Bottomline, health is about food.

Food is the master key to a healthy body. Do you want to be as young, and healthy, and beautiful as Daniel? Id like to share with you my version of the Daniel Program. And it consists of just Three Healing Habits. I believe that these three powerful habits will change your life. Over time-- not instantly-- they will heal many of the diseases in your body. 3. More Fiber. Fruits are a natural source of fiber. Fiber will lower your cholesterol and protect your heart. Itll control your weight. Itll cure constipation and improve your digestion. 4. More Nutrients. The most powerful youth potion is fresh fruits and raw vegetables. Fruits delay the ageing process. They delay the wrinkling of skin and falling hair. Fruits protect you from Alzheimers disease and weak bones (osteoporosis). Fruits strengthen your eyes, preventing macular degeneration of the retina. Fruits are the real antiaging antidote. 5. More Energy. Let me shock you: It takes 1 to 3 days to digest meat. But it takes only 30 minutes to digest a fruit. Your body consumes a lot of energy for thinking, walking, working, breathing, talking. But digestion consumes 80% of your total energy! Instead of digesting, you can now use all that energy for other purposes such as detoxifying, fighting germs, and healing.

2. More Enzymes. Live enzymes are workers that help you digest your food. Without enzymes, you cant absorb the food into your cells. Without enzymes, you die. Where are enzymes found? Only in raw food, such as fresh fruits and raw vegetables. Heat in the cooking process kills the enzymes.

2 THE FEAST May 19, 2013

Step 2: Veggify Your Lunch and Dinner My goal isnt to make you into a vegetarian. My goal is to make you a veg-lover. Heres the key: Make vegetables your MAIN dish for lunch and dinner. I repeat: Im not asking you to stop eating meat. All Im asking is that you make your veggies your main dish. Everything else should be side dishes. Do this tiny adjustment, and it will give you giant returns. Youll feel better. Youll feel stronger. Youll feel younger. Youll have clearer skin. Youll lose weight (if you need to lose weight). Youll have more energy. Youll be more beautiful. Eat Raw Salad Every Day Why salads? Enzymes are the life force of the foodand of our body. Heres a fact that some doctors dont tell you: One of the major reasons Step 3: Organify Your Food Primitivize your food. (Sorry, I like making up words.) Heres my belief: Many are suffering from all sorts of sickness today because of huge amount of processed food they consume every day. So heres a principle: If man made it, minimize eating it. You can prevent many diseases if you minimize your processed food. Heres why 1. Almost Zero Nutrition Almost all the nutrition has been wiped out by its process. Of course the packaging says its enriched or fortified because after stripping it of natural minerals, enzymes, trace

SHARING

many people are sick is because we lack enzymes. Enzyme deficiency is the silent killer. Why raw? Heat kills the enzymes in food. When we cook our food, we destroy almost all the enzymes from the food. Many Kinds of Salads When you hear the word salad, people automatically think of romaine lettuce, cucumber, and carrots. Oh, there are so many other salads that you can eat! Heres my suggestion: Ask your mother or grandmother for local salad recipes.

For example, I love eating a local seaweed called lato. Visit the market and ask for it. Mix it up with some sliced onions. Yum. Its salty enough, you dont need to put anything else. My wife also likes preparing paho (they look like tiny green mangoes) and tomatoes. Pako is another vegetable that I like. And then of course talbos ng kamote (blanched) with eggplant and tomatoes and fish bagoong. Do the same thing with kangkong. the risk of diabetes by 19%, increase the risk of heart disease by 42%, and increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67%. 3. Trans Fats and Partially Hydrogenated Oil What are Trans Fats? They are manufactured fat. They are man-made, not God-made. Theyre fat thats chemically created by a process called partial hydrogenation. You eat Trans Fats when you eat french fries, donuts, muffins and cookies. 4. Sugar, Sweeteners, and High Fructose Corn Syrup The Bible says, Do you like honey? Dont eat too much, or it will make you sick! (Proverbs 25:11) Do you know how much sugar is in a can of softdrinks? 10 sugar cubes per can. Even the diet soda is not a better choice because of artificial sweetenerswhich I believe can be worse than sugar. 5. Refined Grains Filipinos love white rice. But white rice has been stripped of its fiber-rich outer layer. This means it has been stripped of all B vitamins, iron, zinc, magnesium, vitamin E, and selenium. Eat brown rice. Eat the Best Food in the World You can be healthy. God wants you to be healthy. Change your healthand your lifenow!

Big Winner
TOM MEDINA was so busy in his export business he hardly had time to rest. Working overtime, he lacked sleep. And since he was working so hard, he pampered himself with food, until he gained too much weight. Then, one day, he went for a medical checkup and the results showed he had colon cancer. He then underwent four surgeries. Afterwards, he decided to change his lifestyle. He changed his diet-- from fatty, meaty food to fruits and veggies. He exercised. And he shortened his working hours to have time for rest and relaxation. Last Sunday, he shared at the Feast that he is a changed man-- he is now healthy and happy. --With reporting by Violeta Imperial Photos by ELS

elements, and fibersthey add synthetic vitamins in it. Which is nuts. 2. Harmful Chemicals And because food companies want to increase their products shelf life, theyve loaded them with preservatives. And have you ever wondered what ingredients are in your hotdog, sausages, or luncheon meat? Regularly consuming processed meats can increase

REFLECTIONS

Thank You, Superwoman!

By JASMIN MAY A. GARCIA GREAT mothers are Gods blessings to us. Some mothers choose to be career women while there are some who choose to be homemakers. My mom excels in both. When I was in elementary, my mom used to have this mini market store. She woke up at 3 a.m. to go to the market to buy the stuff she would sell in her store. She did this every day for nearly ten years. When I was in high school, my mom decided to open another small business-a carinderia, which she managed for six years. Even as she worked, she has not neglected us-- my dad, my siblings and me. Yes, shes a super woman.

God, Bless the Feast Moms! Last week, we celebrated Mothers Day by paying tribute to all moms at the Feast. Bro. Bo Sanchez called all the mothers to come forward in front of the stage, and he prayed over them, asking God to keep them healthy, give them wisdom, provide for their needs. Photo by Ramel Robles

Superwoman appears only in times of need but my mom is always serving us, always making sure were okay. She might not give us the best in material things, but she gives us the best of her. I always feel I am Gods favorite because He has given us our mom. In behalf of my two siblings, thank You, Lord, for our mother. Thank you for our mother who knows how to scold us when its necessary to correct us. A mother who taught us to love others.

A mother whos been our cheerleader. A mother who wont judge us whatever we do. She who keeps on understanding us, supporting us, forgetting herself but never her husband and children. She who makes us realize that You, oh God, are so real. To our superwoman, its payback time. We are now all professionals because of you and Dad. We will always be grateful. We love you forever. CORRECTION: In last weeks tribute to Sis. Pilar Sanchez, mother of our Feast Founder, Bro. Bo Sanchez, the name of Bro. Abel Victoria, her sonin-law, was inadvertently omitted. Our apologies. Bro. Abel is the husband of Pinkie, one of Sis. Pilars daughters. At left, Bro. Abel serves as lay minister during Mass at the wake.

TIRELESS SERVANT. Sis. Pilar Sanchez served the Lord actively, supporting the ministries of Bro. Bo Sanchez. Above, mother and son during groundbreaking rites for construction of houses for Anawim Home for Abandoned Elderly, a Feast partner beneficiary.

SHE is called Corie, Coy, or Cor by her relatives, coworkers, and friends. But her real name is Corazon. To us she is Mama, Ma, and to her husband, Cor, Coy, Ma, or even Bai. Sounds really cool for me that my father calls her Bai, coz Bai is like Pare. Ive been inspired by Bro. Bo Sanchezs blog titled Why God Invented Mothers, a tribute to his mother Sis. Pilar Sanchez, who passed away last April 30. Like Bro. Bo, I so love my mother. She is my Mama, my One and Only Mother. The one who carried me for nine months, who cried over me when I was diagnosed as suffering from pyloric stynosis nine days after I was born. It was a condition that caused severe projectile nonbilious vomiting caused by narrowing of the opening from the stomach to the first part of the small part on the intestine. Mama understood me during my darkest days of

my adolescence period. Even today she is patient with me even as I fight with her over little things. She combs my hair-- until now that I am already 22 years old-- in front of her friends and co-workers. I feel so embarrassed. Mama has served as my alarm clock every single day of my life until this time that I am already working, waking me up with her shrill, irritating voice. Mama is my doctor and my nurse at the same time when I am sick. She is my teacher, enemy, friend, counselor, tutor, caregiver. There is so much to say about mothers especially my Mom. But one thing for sure: a mother will always be a mother. Even if there are times we dont get along. I really really love you, Mama! I thank you Ma for teaching me virtues, for introducing the Lord to me, and for teaching me what this life really is. Thanks for being there always and forever with me.

MINISTRIES
FIRST, we asked the participants to write their name on the filler notebook we gave each one of them. And they did. Then, we told them, See? You can write! Thats how we started the seminar we called Easy Creative Writing for the Lord, which our Feast Media Ministry held at the Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig City, last May 11. Attended by 65 writing enthusiasts, the seminar was about knowing your grammar, getting over writers block, thinking about your topic, composing the best title, and various dos and donts of creative writing. Media Ministry Head Chay Santiago facilitated the event as the main speaker. The seminar impressed upon the participants that youll find creative writing easy once you conquer your qualms about writing. So the seminar included exercises to make the participants comfortable in using the correct words, phrases, and sentences to express their thoughts and tell stories-especially about blessings and wonders from the Lord. Yes, to write creatively for Gods glory. May we request for a repeat of the seminar, one participant, Belen Abalos, wrote us, but for two days to allow more time for the workshop. Lets have regular writing practice sessions, suggested Imelda Ferrer. Okay, we heard you. Watch for our announcement on the next seminar-for the Lord!

WHEN I was in high school in Cebu, I was a member of Youth for Christ (YFC) in our school. I used to join a Bible study group called Household composed of five to ten students. We met every weekend to read the Bible and reflect on a selected passage. I was thankful as I learned more about God, while having fun in the company of my Household members. But some good things never last. We graduated from high school, and we also graduated from our Household meetings. I didnt expect that I would have that sense of fulfillment again in a similar gathering. Last January, the Feast launched a campaign -- encouraging attendees to join a Connect Group. I signed up and chose to join the CG led by Sis. Cheryl Yap. In the CG, I found Household again. Like in the Household, I met with my CG once a week. We read Bible passages and reflected on them. We shared problems, dreams, learnings, and yes, blessings. We had dinner together, shared jokes, and laughed a lot.

And our sharing helped me open up to God and surrender to Him my burdens. Life has again become beautiful for me. My CGmates treated me like I was a superstar. They helped me to be myself, to keep my feet firm on the ground, and to be the best that I can be. Our three months of regular CG meetings ended last April 29, a Monday. And it was Sis. Ches birthday. She treated us to dinner at McDonalds, Greenbelt. And we surprised her with a big birthday card with all our messages, a cake, and a bouquet of flowers. We also asked the manager at McDonalds and the crew to join us in singing her a birthday song. Fries and ice cream overflowed as one of her former CG members offered a big sum for our celebration. We were all happy to make our spiritual mother the happiest girl that day. With our CG, we started as new friends, but we eventually became like family as we treated one another in special loving ways. I couldnt ask for more.

ONE MORE MIRACLE Seek and You Shall Find!

By KRISTINE ANNE MUTUC Illustration by JANELLE IBAY I AM a forgetful person. I forget names of people I meet, tasks to be done, and important dates. I use the technology of smartphones today to keep track of all the things I need to remember. Even so, I still forget the littlest things-- like a claim stub from a mall baggage counter. As part of my fitness regimen, I jog in Ayala Triangle, Makati. One day, before jogging, I left my bags in a mall baggage counter nearby. I just brought my water jug and the baggage claim stub with me while I jogged. After 30 minutes of sweating it out, I did some stretching, grabbed my water jug, and left Ayala Triangle.

MEETING ROOM 5

I was already in the mall, about to claim my bags from the baggage counter, when I realized my claim stub was missing. Uh oh The mall is about 10 minutes away from Ayala Triangle-- you have to go through an underpass, a foot bridge, and a few buildings along the way. Where on earth did I drop that stub? It was only a small piece of orange paper, softly laminated. It could have flown to another street already, or must have been run down by a car, or hidden in a bush somewhere. There was a P300-fine for a lost claim stub. Yikes. I didnt want to pay the fine, so I traced my steps back to Ayala Triangle hoping against hope I would find the stub. I was looking for a piece of paper on the busy street of Ayala. I felt awkward for a while, but then I started to whisper a prayer, Lord, show me that claim stub. Please! I walked on the foot bridge. No sign of any orange paper. I walked down the underpass and still no orange paper. I passed by a few buildings and still no orange paper. I began to worry. What if someone picked up the stub... and claimed my bags? Nevertheless, I continued searching. I was already back in Ayala Triangle. I searched and searched... until I felt silly doing so. Enough, I told myself, and I decided to go back to the mall. As I started to walk back, there it was-- a piece of orange paper on a bed of green grass. I walked towards the paper and picked it up. Answered prayer! I found the claim stub! Oh, and did I mention that this happened during night time? Got One More Miracle?
