Software Engineer

Responsibilities: This is a position for someone who has in-depth expertise in two or more phases of the project life cycle and is capable of working without supervision in those areas. For someone who can work from requirements or high-level design without the need for direct supervision. Working on this position you will be responsible for development, and system testing of systems of moderate complexity.

Liaises with clients during requirements capture and deployment of solutions Contributes to design of solutions which are scaleable, resilient, open, efficient, secure and cost-effective Produces detailed low-level designs from high level design specifications for components of low to medium complexity Develops, builds and unit tests components of low to medium complexity from own detailed low-level designs Carries out unit testing on own developed code, developing test harnesses if necessary Integrates own components with other system components, in order to test own developed code with other parts of the system Completes incident management cycle and troubleshoots key development problems and issues within immediate personal area Applies all relevant standards and procedures to own work Produces viable estimates within own area Develops technical knowledge and awareness of those technical areas in which requested to code Carries out effective code reviews Coaches less experienced team members Is cognisant of the commercial constraints that apply to the project Accurately records own time and accurately reports progress on own work

Requirements:

Higher degree in Computer Science, Enginering, or similar field 1 year experience in object oriented programing 1 year experience in MS SQL or Oracle Experience with with Microsoft .NET/C# Experience of development and testing phases of at least one completed/delivered system Competent and experienced in two or more technology areas Demonstrable awareness of business and operational environments into which solutions have been delivered Capable of creating designs for low to medium complexity components, which conform to basic design principles such as encapsulation, coherence, abstraction, scalability, etc Thorough understanding and experience of coding and data structure principles, and application of coding standards Good understanding of testing principles, including unit, system, and user acceptance testing Promoter of quality software engineering techniques within project team, such as code review, design review, reusability of code and processes Capable of working with minimal supervision Good written and oral language skills in English Readiness to travel in business Affable, credible and can communicate effectively with clients and colleagues Good team player with the ability to work to deadlines Quality focused Highly flexible (including willingness to work away from home base) Enthusiastic in the pursuit of duties Proactive with respect to personal development Proactive and responsible in areas of expertise A positive "can do" attitude

Additional:

Knowledge of AJAX and/or HTML5 Experience with ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC Experience with data bases: MS SQL Server, Oracle or MongoDB Experience with Web Services
