Comp - Finals Week

Two students experience strange technical issues as they work through finals week, with textures and objects in their computer lab taking on a life of their own. As errors multiply and objects grow to impossible sizes, the students panic until finding a helpful robot who suggests simply clearing the computer history. When order is restored, the students leave only to find an even more fantastical CG world outside the door, screaming in horror at what they encounter.

DESCRIPTION
Two DIGMs sit at their computers, surrounded by a mess of energy drinks. They look disheveled and have clearly been there for a very long time. DIGM 1 (right side of FW010) looks up at a clock on the wall. It is very late. DIGM 1, visibly shaken, quickly turns back to his/her computer and types furiously. We pan to the left and see DIGM 2 working, with an ominous gray shape in the background. Out of the corner of his eye, DIGM 2 notices it and turns. One of the computers in the background has a lambert shader. Camera is focused on back of lambert computer. The two DIGMS slowly creep into the shot and look at each other, eyes conveying confusion. They look back at the computer. Camera is at the back of the two DIGMS now. DIGM 2 pokes the computer, and the texture shimmers and snaps back into place. They shrug. DIGMs begin to walk back to their computers, but there is a giant rainbow textured cube in the back of the room. DIGM 1 stops suddenly (ending the camera track), turns, and runs towards it. DIGM 1 tries to push the cube underneath a table, but its too big. When the cube hits the table, it grows a bit more. DIGM 1 looks horrified. DIGM 2 almost makes it back to the computer desk, right as a shockwave ripples the wall to his right. Edge loops begin to draw themselves over the wall. He/she jumps, startled, and turns towards the wall. DIGM 2 steps back slowly, head raised to look at the walls. The edge loops tighten and the wall begins extruding. He/she frantically gestures towards DIGM 1 to help. DIGM 1 looks up, gingerly grabs the cube, and runs off camera. DIGM 1 hurls the cube at the wall and it smashes into it, dissolving into a rainbow blast of edge loops and texture maps.

DIGM 1 jumps backward at this development, and knocks over a chair which turns out to be an image plane. DIGM 1 and the plane fall down. DIGM 2 is in the background, and turns his head towards the back of the room (right of the shot) where the cube used to be. He dashes off screen. A VERY large can on the table scales up. The camera tilts as the can grows taller, reaching over DIGM 2s head. From cans POV a large, imposing shadow falls over DIGM 2. He runs off screen and dashes towards the door on the other end of the room. DIGM 1 is in the background, frantically looking around. DIGM 2 reaches the door, DIGM 1 rushing up to join him/her, peering over his/her shoulder. DIGM 2 reaches for the handle and gets his/her hand stuck in the door. It glitches out and he/she quickly recoils it, looking at the door in horror. The two DIGMS back away from the door and stand back to back, looking around in horror. Pivoting from the point the two DIGMS stand, the camera pivots around the room, looking at the Maya-based horror that has been unleashed. The two DIGMS look around the room, then notice their computer over in the corner. An error message pops up, and they run over to it. DIGM 2 sits closest to the wall, DIGM 1 sits to the right. The message reads: Having trouble? Press F1 to access the Maya Help Docs! Finger presses F1. The two DIGMs sit and stare at their computers. Slowly, a tiny, adorable wheeled robot with a screen showing Glenn Winters face rolls up behind them and pokes the chair. Think ClapTrap. DIGM 1 jumps, knocking into DIGM 2. Glenn Winters rolls back slightly. We look over the robots shoulders at the DIGMs staring with widened eyes. The robot smiles and begins talking: Hello, I am the MAYA HELP DOC! If you would like assistance, please nod frantically! The words appear over his head as floating 3D text that types itself. Same shot as FW210. The DIGMs

hesitate in shock, and then nod furiously. Robot continues talking: Well, whens the last time you deleted your history? The two DIGMs faces slowly change from fear to annoyance at their own stupidity. The DIGM 2 rotates his/her chair back towards the computer. DIGM 2 deletes the history, then turns back to his/her right. The two DIGMs look back from their computer, slowly rolling their chairs around. The room is empty. The DIGMs look at each other, smile, and high five. They get up and saunter off screen. DIGM 1 hesitates at opening the door handle. When it opens without any problems, she/he smiles and holds the door open for DIGM 2. They leave the room. The two DIGMs animatedly talk to each other while walking towards the back door of URBN. They open the door and a brilliant light flashes. It fades into view, and the DIGMS see a fantastic CG world behind them. The DIGMs look at each other in horror, hold their heads and scream.
