Types of Doors
Door have to be specially designed for opening larger then those for which ordinary doors are available. Larger doors may be required for airplanes hangars garages and craneway openings in walls and for subdividing, gymnasium and auditoriums. Not only most of the doors be designed for the openings but also the structure around the openings must be designed to accommodate the doors. Types of doors used for special purpose generally are much the same as ordinary doors except for size and weight. MAINLY THERE ARE SIX TYPES OF SPECIAL DOORS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

TELESCOPEING DOORS
Telescoping doors are used at large entrance, for example, for airplanes hangers. Built of wood, steel or a composed of several parallel leaves, each of which moves in a separate track the doors may be opened by moving all the leaves in one direction or they may be center parting, with leaves moving in opposite directions often the doors are operated by motors that which drive an endless chain attached to the top of one leaf.
FOLDING DOORS
Folding doors are used at entrance with very wide openings, such as those for hungars, or for dividings large rooms, such as gymnasiums, auditorium, into smaller rooms. The main advantage of folding doors over telescoping doors for large openings is that folding doors required only one top and one bottom track track or guide channel, regardless of the width of openings. Each leaf of telescoping doors, in contrast, requires less materials for rails, guide channels and supporting members.
SWINGING DOORS
Special purpose swinging doors are used in a much wider variety of forms then ordinary swinging doors often, special purpose doors are double swing, with hinges on both jambs; twofold, with a vertical hinge on one jamb and another verticals hinge between two leaves, so that the leaves fold when the doors opens; or fourfold, which is center parting and each half is twofold. Such doors may be used instead of sliding doors when there is insufficient space around openings for storing open sliding doors.
TOP-HINGED DOORS
Doors with horizontal hinges at the top are often used for craneway entrance to buildings. This type of doors has been employed for openings more then 100 ft wide and from 4 to 18 ft high. To increase the depth available for openings, horizontally sliding doors sometimes are placed under top hinged door. In such cases, the top guides for the sliding doors aer placed along the bottom of the upper door. Hence, when the doors are closed, the sliding door must be opened before the top hinged door. Closing must proceed in the reverse order.
