DELTA SIGMA PHI AT THE U OF U

Volume 1 / Issue 1 March/April 2013 A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

1ST ANNUAL PHILANTHROPHY WEEK We are proud to announce that our first annual Philanthropy Week benefiting the Red Cross was a huge success! Under the supervision of Brothers Adam Tuero, Tyler Griffin, and Sipha Dennis Phaophongsavath, the University of Utah raised over $1200 dollars. During this week, brothers received CPR training, made cards for our troops and participated in our first ever Dream Girl competition. If you wish to assist us in our future philanthropic events or would like to purchase a Delta Sigma Phi Philanthropy shirt, please email us Dear Brothers, Its been quite the journey since this colony was started back in 2011. Im happy to say that we have made great strides and have learned a lot about ourselves in these last several semesters. Resulting from our collaboration as brothers, we successfully completed our first philanthropy benefiting the Red Cross and held our first ever Dream Girl competition. We have received some great feedback from various campus organizations from sororities to service groups for our generosity and the way our members present themselves. We no doubt stand out from the crowd and I couldnt be happier. Something we look forward to next semester is continuing our outreach with other Greek organizations here at the University of Utah. We also intend to better our campus and community by expanding our service initiative and ensuring that all members complete a minimum of 20 hours of service a semester. We will build better men as well as our reputation on campus by hosting the Better Man Speaker series that would invite different community leaders on campus to speak to both members and non-members alike, providing differing perspectives on leadership and building strong communities. Big things are still in store for this colony and I am confident that we will receive our charter and lay the foundation for a lasting legacy of culture, harmony and friendship. OUR PATH TO CHARTERING

With the completion of our recent philanthrophy week, the University of Utah is one step closer to obtaining a charter. Currently, we have completed over 90% of our chartering requirements. This success has allowed the Executive Board to establish a goal chartering date of December 10, 2013; a date which will allow us to celeberate not only our charter, but the founding of Delta Sigma Phi. Our remaining requirements that we have yet to fufill have to do with recruitment. In order to recruit the best men on campus over the summer and next fall, we would appreciate any financial support you are willing to give. To donate, please click the blue Donate button located at the bottom of our electronic newsletter. If you have any qusestions about the chartering process, please contact the Colony Executive Vice-President Nicholas Daskalas at [email protected].
