Quick Guide

The Course List is a browsable and searchable online list of courses, available for multiple sessions Click the session drop-down box in the upper left to see which sessions are available and to select the session you wish to view ISIS either shows the current session or, when registration is available, anticipates the upcoming session in its default displays When you have found a course either by searching or browsing, you can view the full course description by clicking on the Course #.

Among the search boxes for Course Subject, Course Number, and Section, wildcards (% or *) may be used.

Browse or Search?
You can find courses either by browsing or searching; the course information displayed will be the same regardless of which method is used.

The Course Search List


The Search feature provides a powerful method for finding courses to meet a variety of different needs. Enter one (or more) criteria in the search screen, and click Search button. For example, if you enter HIST in the Course Subject field, all the courses in the History department will be displayed.

The Course List Browse


The Browse feature of the course list allows you to view lists of courses by department, General Education area, etc. (Searching by department or Gen Ed area will provide the same information.)

Example 1 - Browse by college and department


This browse is used to view all the courses offered in a specific department for the selected session 1.1) Click on By college and department link, then the desired college link

1.3) All courses offered for the selected department and session will be displayed. Depending on the department, the list may be several pages.

Example 2 - Browse by General Education Area
This browse is used to view all the courses offered that fulfill the selected CLAS general education requirements for the selected session. 2.1) Click on By general education area link

2.2) Click on desired general education area link

2.3) All courses offered for the selected general education area link and session will be displayed. Depending on these selections, the list may be several pages.

Course Summary Mode Results


After using either the browse or the course search methods, ISIS will display the results. The next two screens explain the fields and the information displayed in the fields.

1. Course #
This field displays the current course number as a clickable link. Clicking on the link will take you to the Section Details page.

Title
This field always displays the course title, time and location of the course, and course instructor. Other information will display only if it is relevant for the course. A. B. Time and location Course instructor clicking an instructors name will allow you to send an email to the instructor. Clicking on the View instructors link will display a list of all available instructors for this section. This link with only be available if you are logged in. Typically, independent study sections will have this link. This is an example of a mandatory lecture and discussion combination. When you enroll in the discussion section, the lecture section will be automatically added to your schedule. If the course has a subtitle, it will display here. If there are prerequisites for the section, they will display here. If there is a more or view link, there are additional requirements for the section. Click on the more or view link to see all of the section details.

3. Hours
This field indicates the semester hours earned for the section. If there are multiple hours, the section may be taken for any of the listed options.

Notes
This field contains additional information regarding the section. A. Delivery Mode if the section does not meet in a traditional classroom, the meeting method will be listed here (e.g., self-paced, web, virtual classroom, etc.) Type of restriction some courses restrict the type of student that can take the section (e.g., undergraduate first-year students only, majors only, Honors Program members only, etc.) Type of course

Enrollments
This field indicates the current enrollment count for the section and the registration status. The Enroll link will be available if you are logged in and authorized to register.
