AT THE CASTLE Narrator: ( Theseus and Hippolyta enter ) The Duke of Athens, Theseus propose to Hippolyta, Queen of the amazons. Theseus: Will you thee marry me? Hippolyta: Yes, my love I will marry you. Narrator: And one summer day in Athens they are preparing for their marriage. Duke Theseus ordered Philostrate to find amusement and entertainment for their wedding. Theseus: Philostrate! Philostrate : Yes, my Lord? ( bow ) Theseus : Find me suitable entertainers and amusers for the celebration of our marriage. Philostrate : As you wish your majesty. (Exit)
Theseus : Egeus, my good man, what brings you here? ( Inakbayan si Egeus) Egeus: My Lord, we would like to congratulate you for your marriage and we brought you a present. (Give the present) Hippolyta: Thank you for this wonderful gift. Egeus: And also your highness I would like to ask you a favor? Theseus : What is it? Egeus: I would like to ask your blessings for the marriage of my daughter Hermia and this young man Demetrius. (Hermia, Helena, Lysander and Demetrius shocked) Demetrius: I gladly accept the marriage. (Holds Hermias hand)
I can show you the world Shining, shimmering, splendid Tell me, princess, now when did You last let your heart decide? (Binawi ang kamay niya) Egeus: Hermia! Hermia: Father the one I love is Lysander. Egeus: No, youll marry Demetrius. Hermia: But .. Egeus: No buts. If you dont do what I say I will send you to the convent and he will lose his head. (Looks at Theseus) Theseus : Im sorry Hermia but that is the law. ( Hermia cries then walks away. Lysander follows. Demetrius will follow but stop by Helena) Helena: (Holds Demetrius hands) Let them be Demetrius. Forget Hermia. Im here, I can give you much more love than her. Demetrius: Im sorry Helena. Hermia is the one I love. ( Follows Hermia) Helena: Wait! Demetrius! ( Follow him) Egeus: ( Looks at Theseus and Hippolyta) Im sorry your highness for what happened.
Theseus : Thats okay Egeus, I understand. Egeus: I bid now my farewell your majesty. ( Bows) Exit AT THE PARK ( Hermia comes in running followed by Lysander ) Lysander : My love, I disagree with your Fathers decision. Hermia: Me too my love. What shall we do? Lysander : Lets leave things behind us. Let us start a new life. Another day Without your smile Another day just passes by But now I know How much it means For you to stay Right here with me The time we spent apart will make our love grow stronger But it hurt so bad I can't take it any longer I wanna grow old with you I wanna die lying in your arms I wanna grow old with you I wanna be looking in your eyes I wanna be there for you Sharing everything you do I wanna grow old with you Hermia: But what if they found out? Lysander : Dont worry, leave it to me. ( Hold her hand) Hermia: But where will we go? Lysander : To my aunts house where will be married. Lets meet at the forest at night when everyone is asleep. Hermia: Ill be there. (Smiles) Lysander : Farewell for now, my love. (Hugs each other) Lysander leaves and Helena came.
Helena: Hermia! Hermia: Oh Helena! (Hug) Helena: Are you alright now? Hermia: Im fine now. By the way I have something to tell you. Helena: Go ahead tell me. Hermia: But please tell no one about this. Helena: Sure, I will keep it a secret. Hermia: Promise me first. Helena: I promise! Hermia: Me and Lysander decided to escape and live together. Helena: What?! How about your marriage with Demetrius? Hermia: I dont approve it! Helena: What about your father? Does he know about this? Hermia: No, he dont. He doesnt want Lysander for me. So I beg you, please tell no one. Helena: I promise my friend. Hermia: Thank you Helena. I knew I could count on you. ( Hug both) Well, I must go now. Farewell my friend. Helena: Farewell my friend. ( Hermia leaves) (Face to the audience) I know I made a promise but I need to tell Demetrius about this. Maybe if I tell him, hell regain his feelings for me. (Looks for Demetrius) She saw Demetrius sitting in the bench. Helena: Demetrius! Demetrius : Helena! What are you doing here? ( stand) Helena: I need to tell you that Hermia and Lysander decided to elope. Demetrius : What?!!! Helena: They will met tonight at the forest. Demetrius : No. I cant this happen. I must follow them. (leaves Helena) Helena: (reaches for Demetrius. Follows him) Close curtain
Narrator : AT THE WOODS The time had come for the lovers to meet. Lysander: Hermia?! Where are you? Hermia: Im here, my love! Lysander: Oh Hermia, let us go now. Hermia: But are you sure? Will this be alright. Lysander: Dont worry. Im here with you. (Hugs her) (Leaves and Demetrius came with Helena following him) Demetrius : Hermia! Where are you? Helena: Oh! My Demetrius let them be. Demetrius : No. I dont want to lose Hermia! (He leaves) Hermia! (Shouting) Exit Helena: Wait Demetrius. (Follow him) Narrator: The four lovers didnt know that they are not the only one there in the woods. In the other part of the forest there is the group of the six Athenian craftsmen practicing their play entitled Pyramus and Thisbe for the wedding of the Duke Theseus. ( Enter: singing ) Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho QUINCE : Is all our company here? BOTTOM : You were best to call them generally, man by man, according to the scrip. QUINCE : Here is the scroll of every man's name, which is thought fit, through all Athens, to play in our interlude before the duke and the duchess, on his wedding-day at night. Our play is the most lamentable comedy, and most cruel death of Pyramus and Thisbe. QUINCE : Answer as I call you. Nick Bottom, the weaver. Will get to play Pyramus. BOTTOM : But I want to play Thisbe. (kids action) QUINCE : No your Pyramus. BOTTOM : Hmph! QUINCE : Francis Flute, the bellows-mender. Youll play Thisbe.
Flute: Sure! Sure! Sure!(walks around) What! (falls down, leaves falls on his head) QUINCE : See you look like Thisbe. Your pretty. Flute: (Stands up, walks & talks like a girl) But I dont want to play Thisbe. QUINCE : Robin Starveling, the tailor. Youll play the moon. Straveling : Alright. QUINCE : Tom Snout, the tinker. Youll play the part of Wall, dividing the two lovers. Snout : Alright. QUINCE : Snug, the joiner. Youll play the lion. Snug : I can do it well. (Roar) QUINCE : Now, let us find a place for our practice. Exit Close curtains Open curtains Narrator: The other group arrives. The group of fairies. ( Fairies playing with the Indian boy. Enters Puck) Puck:What are u guys doing? (Fairies igores Puck.Puck saw the boy) Puck:Who is that boy?King Oberon Will like that boy to be his Knight. Sugartwinkle:No! Bubblymond:King Oberon cant have him. Bluevalley:He cant be his knight. Puck: King Oberon can make his knight. Starblossom: No Appleplump: He cant Puck:Why not? He is, after all, the king Mistyrivers: Queen Titania will not agree with it. (Conflict continues . Then arrives Queen Titania and King Oberon)
(Conflict stops. Fairies and Puck goes down the stage) Oberon : How is my lovely Queen? (Hug at the back with sweet background song) Titania : Oh! Stop that! (Malambing) Oberon : (Saw the Indian Prince) I will make him my knight. Titania : Oh! Stop that! (Shout) Oberon : I will make him my knight. Titania : No, you wont. Oberon : Yes, I will. Titania : No, you wont. Oberon : Yes, I will. Titania : No, you wont. Oberon : No, I wont . Titania : Yes, you will. Oberon : Ok, I will. (Smiles) Titania : Ah, you are so annoying. Fairies lets by on our way. (walks out) Oberon : Puck come here. Puck : Yes, my lord? Oberon : Fetch me the flower that fell upon a little western flower, Before milk-white, now purple with love's wound, And maidens call it love-in-idleness. When you drop the juice of it on sleeping eyelids laid will make a man or woman madly in love upon the next live creature that it sees. Fetch me this herb; and be thou here again Ere the leviathan can swim a league. Puck : As you wish my Lord. ( Bow and leave) Oberon : Having once this juice, I'll watch Titania when she is asleep, And drop the liquor of it in her eyes. I will make her fall in love with the vilest and ferocious creature in this land. ( Walking and heard something then hide) (Demetrius and Helena entered) Helena : Demetrius stop looking for her! Demetrius : No, I wont stop until I found my Hermia. Why you keep following me. Dont you know that I got sick when I look on thee. Helena : And I get sick when I look not on you. Exit
Oberon : How dare this young Athenian man let that maidens heart suffer. I will make this young man fall in love with that maiden. Puck : ( enter and give the magical flower) Oberon : Puck I have a quest for you! Puck : What is it your highness? Oberon : Spread some of the juice of the magical flower to a young Athenian mans eyes. Puck : How will I recognize him? Oberon : Youll know him by his looks and with him is a maiden. Now Puck go and accomplish this quest. Narrator : Titania and her train are in the other part of the woods. Titania : Come, now a roundel and a fairy song; At our quaint spirits. Sing me now asleep; Then to your offices and let me rest. ( Fairies sings Lullaby) Narrator : While Titania is sleeping Oberon came and squeeze the flower on Titanias eye-lids. Close curtain Narrator : Puck saw Lysander and Demetrius. He is confused so he sang eenie minie to make his decision. Puck : Maybe he is the one Lord Oberon is referring to. (Point at Lysander then he sneak at lysander. He tripped at a piece of wood, tumayo na parang walang nangyari. He squeeze the flower to Lysanders eye-lids.) Narrator : Lysander woke up and saw Helena and he fell in love with her. Lysander : Whoa!!! What a beautiful maiden! (follows Helena) Wait! Helena! Helena : What!? Lysander : I love you! Ill cross the ocean for you! Ill give you the moon and stars. Just give thy heart to me. (holds hand) Helena : Stop it! Thats not true1 Hermia is the one you love ! Dont play tricks on me ! (redeemed her hand) Lysander : Helena its true! Please believe me! I love you Helena!
Helena : NO! Thats nonsense! Youre scaring me ! (they walked passed by Demetrius) Oberon : (watching Lysander and Helena) Puck!! Puck : Yes, your highness? Oberon : What did you do!? You dropped the flower juice at the wrong Athenian! Puck : Oh! Im sorry thy highness! Im sorry that wont happen again. Oberon : Go and undo your mistake! Puck : As you wish thy highness! (sneaking to Demetrius, then he dropped the juice at the eyes of Demetrius. When Demetrius woek up Lysander and Demetrius pinagagawan si Helena then they fought each other in a silly way) Close curtain Narrator : While the Athenian craftsmen are practicing their lines they dont know that Puck is watching them. ( Enter PUCK behind ) PUCK : What is happening here? They are too close to the fairy queen?? QUINCE : Speak, Pyramus. Thisby, stand forth. BOTTOM : Thisby, the flowers smells so sweet! QUINCE : Odours, odours. BOTTOM : --odours savours sweet:So hath thy breath, my dearest Thisby dear. But hark, a voice! stay thou but here awhile, And by and by I will to thee appear. (Exit) PUCK : A stranger Pyramus than e'er played here. (Exit) FLUTE : Must I speak now? QUINCE : Ay, marry, must you; for you must understand he goes but to see a noise that he heard, and is to come again. FLUTE : Oh pyramus.. oh pyramus.. im so excited to be with you! This night is our destiny.. I will come to you at the mulberry tree! QUINCE : 'Ninus' tomb,' man: why, you must not speak that yet; that you answer to Pyramus: you speak all your part at once, cues and all Pyramus enter: your cue is past; it is, 'never tire.' (Re-enter PUCK, and BOTTOM with an ass's head ) BOTTOM : If I were fair, Thisby, I were only thine.
QUINCE : O monstrous! O strange! we are haunted. Pray, masters! fly, masters! Help! (Exeunt QUINCE, SNUG, FLUTE, SNOUT, and STARVELING) PUCK : I'll follow you, I'll lead you about a round, Through bog, through bush, through brake, through brier: Sometime a horse I'll be, sometime a hound, A hog, a headless bear, sometime a fire; And neigh, and bark, and grunt, and roar, and burn, Like horse, hound, hog, bear, fire, at every turn. (Exit) BOTTOM : Why do they run away? Was my face too oily?? Or UGLY?? (Re-enter SNOUT) SNOUT : O Bottom, what happen to you!?> BOTTOM : What do you see? you see an asshead of your own, do you? (Exit SNOUT) TITANIA : [Awaking] What angel wakes me from my flowery bed? BOTTOM : [Sings] TITANIA : Oh I want to hear the voice of my love again! It comforts my ear! At first sight I love thee!! Narrator : Titania fell in love with Nick Bottom that turned to an ass. And they sleep together. While in the other part of the forest, Puck make a fog all around until the four couples cant see each other. He start to mimick their voice. Puck : (as lysander) Helena is mine!! I deserve her love than yours!! Demetrius : Oh man!! You just came and troubled our love. Helena is in love with me, dont you know? Puck : (as lysander) But you cant tell what the person really feel. Days will come, Helenas feelings might change. Demetrius : It will not change if Ill show my love for her. ( walk fast and bumped into the tree and fell asleep) Narrator : Puck made Demetrius asleep and heard the voice of lysander. Lysander : Demetrius, youre such a coward. Where are you? Face me!! Puck : (as Demetrius) Im not a coward! You are Ill get Helena away from you. Lysander : I wont give her.. haaa.. Im the one that really love her! Puck : (as Demetrius) What are you talking about? I love her more than yours! And we all know that Im tha one shes involved with.
Lysander : Shut up! Puck : (as Demetrius) pinalo si Lysander sa ulo para makatulog. Narrator : After that, he heard the voices of the 2 girls. He made them asleep by giving them scented leaves. He placed Hermia to Lysanders side and Helena to the side of Demitrius. Theseus and Hippolyta discover the sleeping lovers in the forest and take them back to Athens to be married Demetrius now loves Helena, and Lysander now loves Hermia. After the group wedding, the lovers watch Bottom and his fellow craftsmen perform their play, a fumbling, hilarious version of the story of Pyramus and Thisbe. When the play is completed, the lovers go to bed; the fairies briefly emerge to bless the sleeping couples with a protective charm and then disappear. Only Puck remains, to ask the audience for its forgiveness and approval and to urge it to remember the play as though it had all been a dream. PUCK : If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream, Gentles, do not reprehend: if you pardon, we will mend: And, as I am an honest Puck, If we have unearned luck Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue, We will make amends ere long; Else the Puck a liar call; So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, And Robin shall restore amends.
