SAP Background Report Running

This document provides steps for scheduling SAP reports to run in the background to avoid time-out errors. 1 Purpose
As the report run time is limited for each process in SAP we face
“Time-out error” problem while running some large MIS reports in SAP.
To resolve this we can schedule these reports in background and convert
them in Excel.
Following are steps how you can schedule your job in SAP for
background execution.

2 Steps
1. Enter Report Selection Criteria.

2. Then Select Program Menu Execute in Background Tab.

3. You will see this Window. Here Select Default Printer. Then Select
Properties

4. Change Time of Printing by double clicking to Send to SAP Spooler


for Now. If already done no need to do this. Then Click Continue.

6. Click Continue.

7. You will see this Window for Job Scheduling. Select Immediate tab
for Immediate Running of Report in Background.

8. After saving job Message will appear at selection Screen of report
showing Background Job Scheduled for ‘Report Name’ and the
request will appear in Spool request.

9. Select System  Own Spool Request tab to View the Spool Request
Generated.

10. When “Status” is completed, report can be saved as Excel File.
