According to System Approach, The following are the Functional malefic. Raghu Ketu And those planets whose Moonatikona falls on the trick houses namely 6th ,8th and 12th houses from the natal ascendant.

1. A planet which occupies the same sign both in Rasi chart and navamsa Chart is called vargottamma. The vargottamma planets shows favorable results only when they are strong in Rasi chart. If they are weak in rasi charts,, they will not give. 2. Similarly when a planet is in its own decante bestows good results 3. The planet which is in its own Navamsa gives luck. 4. When a planet occupies his own sign in Saptmamsa bestows name, fame, courage and wealth 5. One becomes devout and helpful if a planet is in its own Dwadamsa However the weak planets in Rasi chart do not improve their strength by being strong in Navamsa or any other Varga Chart. The planets are considered weak for all purposes when they occupy debilitated navamsa A planet is considered weak for specific purposes when they occupy debilitated amsa Yoga : When two or more functional benefic form close relationship they generate good results corresponding to their Moolatrikona houses ( conjunction/Aspect)

If when two or more Functional Malefics form close relationship, they cause inauspicious yoga and destroy the results of their Moola trikona houses If one functional benefic and one Malefic form a close relation then this causes a in auspicious yoga which destroys the results of the moolatrikona house of the benefic When a functional benefic occupies a malefic house this causes yoga for misfortune related to the signification of ITS the MOOLA TRIKONA HOUSE When a functional malefic Planet aspects the MEP (Most effective Point) of an house it destroys the signification of the house except if it is in its moolatrikona house. Those houses are considered strong which are occupied or aspected by their own strong lords or by the functional benefic planets. However they should not be under the close influences of the functional malefic planets. A strong planet protects its functional signification and the signification of its Moolatrikona house Any planet is considered strong when it is not in its state of weakness. It can increase its strength : 1. It is young in age that is, it is between 10 to 20 degrees in a particular sign 2. It occupies its own or good Navamsa and their divisions 3. It is under the close influence of functional benefic planets 4. It occupies its exaltation or Moolatrikona or Own sign 5. It closely influences the Most effective point (MEP) of the house.
