Mood and Tone

The passage describes two contrasting mornings on the way to school. The first morning is bright and cheerful with the sun smiling, birds singing, and the person skipping happily to school. The second morning is gloomy with gray clouds, annoying bird songs, and the person stomping angrily to school and falling in a puddle. Both passages are meant to convey different moods and tones for each morning experience.

DO NOT WRITE ON!!!!!!

As I walked to school this morning, the sun greeted me smiling. The birds were chirping their adorable morning song. I sang along with their chirping as I skipped to school. The reflection in the puddle grinned back as I hopped gracefully over the bright sparkling water. I couldnt wait to get to school and see all of my equally excited friends. There is nothing quite as exhilarating as a bright spring morning when everything goes right.

DO NOT WRITE ON!!!!!!

Read the passage below and determine the mood and tone.

As I walked to school this morning, the gray clouds hung in the gloomy sky. The birds were chirping their annoying morning song. I screamed at the birds as I stomped to school. The reflection in the puddle looked ugly as I fell into the puddle and got all wet and gross. I couldnt wait for school to be over even though the day hadnt started. There is nothing quite as irritating as a storming morning when everything goes wrong.
