FUNDING

The Beacon Fund is funded by donations from the community including donations given at the weekly community meal. Funding also comes from ReStore Community Centers silent auction that is ongoing while ReStore is open.

Beacon Fund
The Beacon Fund is a financial assistance program that is made available to people in need in the Ada and surrounding communities. The money goes to the client to help pay for gas, water, and/or electric bills. It also helps with rent, prescription, and other miscellaneous bills.

In 2012, twenty-four clients were helped through the Beacon Fund. Rent assistance..8 clients helped Electric assistance....6 clients helped Water assistance.3 clients helped Prescription assistance3 clients helped Gas bill assistance..2 clients helped Insurance assistance....1 client helped Gas assistance...1 client helped A total of $2,355.28 was given through the Beacon Fund to help clients. 210 North Main Street PO Box 232 Ada, OH 45810 Phone. BEACON FUND POLICY INTERVIEW PROCESS OTHER AGENCIES

The Beacon Fund is available to individuals and families in the following areas: Ada, Alger, McGuffey, Dunkirk, and Dola. The Beacon Fund may be accessed up to the amount of $200 over the course of one year. When ReStore Community Center gives money to help a client from the Beacon Fund, the check is never written to the client. It is written to the landlord, utility company, or pharmacy. A client can only access the Beacon Fund once a year. If the client is able to pay back the money used, they may do so.
DOCUMENTS NEEDED

Individuals or families needing financial assistance must be in need. When the client comes in, they will fill out an intake form. This helps the staff assess the need of the client. The staff will look over the intake form before meeting with the client. The staff makes sure that the client will be able to pay next months bill so they dont rely on ReStore to keep paying for them.

After the staff know the needs of the client they will suggest other agencies that might be able to assist with the clients situation. The staff will also ask the client if they are part of a church that might be able to assist them. Partnering agencies: Ada Food Pantry Located in Ada First Presbyterian Church Tuesday 4-6pm & Saturday 10am-noon

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

Appointments are preferred when the client needs financial assistance from the Beacon Fund. To make an appointment, the client can call ReStore Community Center at (419) 558-1015. Staff can sometimes meet with walk-ins, depending on the schedule for that day.

Community Action Assist with utility assistance. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Love Inc. (Love in the Name of Christ) Clearinghouse for churches and agencies where needs of many types are screened for legitimacy so that the correct resource can be found. Monday-Friday 9am-1pm

For help with paying utilities, client needs utility bill. If the client needs rent assistance, the name of landlord is required. A prescription is needed from the pharmacy and/or doctor for medical assistance.
