After data collection, comes the stage of data analysis, to elucidate expectations regarding data. Data analysis or statistic analysis of data involves certain steps. These are: Analysis variables: The initial point of analysis involves fragmenting the overall research objectives into several more definite sub-objectives that can be associated with the data. Each such obtained sub-objective is associated with one or more data variable(s) so that the manner in which the data relates to the objectives is crystal clear. Such analysis variables need to be stated in dissertation, this would include all variables subjected to statistical analyses; along with a mention of those variables that were collected but not analyzed with reasons behind it. Complete details of the statistical model are provided, i.e. of features in the analysis that relate to the design structure. Also mention confounding factors, and other relevant factors, such as economic status etc. relevant to your research study. Method of analysis: Do not give a blanket statement for method of analysis; it plainly reports the main effect, with no discussion or reporting of interactions. This ignores many potential sources of variation that may have entered and also the standard errors in their reporting. Give due weight to variations. Other elements: If the research requires extensive statistical modelling, then the researcher should include details of all aspects encompassing the model, rather than the final model. Thus, researcher should elaborate the model selection process and information about model checking with a succinct discussion of the findings. Point out limitations of the model fitting process with the explanation of assumptions made and the skipping of certain factors that were impossible to measure which therefore, ignored.
