We are in a hurry and You are not. We want to fix it now, and you are not ready to fix it now. We set goals of our own making, and want You to join in as soon as possible. We want our lives to run on our own timing, not Yours. We admire those who do what seem to be great things in a short time, and we wonder why we cannot do the same. We know that You keep Your promises, but we wonder why it takes You so long. Forgive us when we ask for life to go our way, and forget to ask it be done Your way. We sometimes try to use You instead of letting You use us. Forgive us our sins, and help us to do better. We will try, but we depend on the power of your Holy Spirit to make us right. Amen. Patience
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person availeth much. James 5:16
Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. No food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.
plan the Sunday March 3rd dinner. Van Ministry Begins: Last Wednesday our newly acquired church van made its first ministry trip. A group of people used it to take our Haiti missionary ladies to the airport to send them off for their journey. Alene Gibson, Lee Ann Corley, and Savannah Curtis will be working with a group of other Cumberland Presbyterian missionaries on this work trip to Haiti. They will return on Saturday February 16th. Pray for their safety and the success of their ministry. Christian Beginners is a new class for young children ages 1-2. It meets every Sunday morning in the Nursery at 9:00 for singing, fun, and learning. The New Hope Food Pantry Canned goods, non-perishables and dry goods work best. We can use cereals, if we can get them turned out quickly. Take whatever you bring to the kitchen. Please see Evelyn Price or the Pastor if you know anyone inside or outside the church that has a need. Rotation Sunday School Series The C.I.A. (Christian Intelligence Agency) is beginning a new study about Heaven using the story of Colton Burpo, who after a near death experience at age 4 was able to describe what Heaven looks like to his parents. The series is Heaven is for Real! and we will have an 11-week study that will lead up to Easter. We encourage all elementary age children to participate. Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know are interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.
Never think that Gods delays are Gods denials. Hold on; hold fast; hold out. Patience is genius.
