Emergency Call Service (ECS)

1 Denition
The feature Emergency Call Service (ECS) supports fast and simple call setup in case of emergency, e.g. to the fire department or the police. After dialing a standard emergency number, the subscriber is automatically connected to the nearest emergency center. A subscriber can always set up a connection to the emergency number, even if his or her line is blocked for outgoing calls.

2 Mode of operation
With the feature Emergency Call Service (ECS), a subscriber can be connected to the nearest emergency center by dialing an emergency call number. The network node replaces the emergency number dialed by the subscriber with the actual directory number of the emergency center in each case. Any directory number can be specified as the universal emergency call number (e.g. for fire, police, ambulance, etc.). Emergency call destinations may be located in the local area and in the national long-distance area. Each subscriber is assigned to one of the emergency call areas and identified accordingly. The operating company assigns each emergency area a number with which subscribers can automatically reach the nearest emergency center. Emergency calls made from a coinbox telephone receive a recorded announcement such as your call is being connected. This bridges any possible transition times for setting up the emergency call and prevents the caller hanging up prematurely. Capacity The percentages indicate the number of authorized subscribers for the feature within the network node and their simultaneous application. Analog Authorization Subscriber GeoCENTREX subscriber 100% 100% Use *) *) ISDN Authorization 100% 100% Use *) *)

*) The number of simultaneous emergency calls depends on the number of emergency call lines to the emergency center.

3 Subscriber controlled input

Subscriber controlled input is not possible for this feature.

4 Call charge registration

The emergency call is recorded like a normal call i.e. recording is possible with AMA and/or bulk metering. The AMA record contains all information needed to charge the call (calling party, dialed number, date/time, duration of the call, etc.). A tariff rate can be specified for the call, based on the dialed digits (emergency number), the subscribers origin, category (e.g. coinbox) and other criteria. The tariff rate may be either non-chargeable or based on a fixed number of charge units or number of charge units per time period or at a rate that varies during the call.

5 Administration
The operator can perform all administration functions on the NetManager by means of user-friendly applications or MML commands. Feature authorization No individual subscriber authorization is required for the feature. Subscriber access types The Emergency Call Service feature is available from every line. Call charge registration For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-TA. System administration The following feature data can be administrated in the network node: display and modication of network node options creation of announcements recording by means of trafc measurement For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-SY. Routing administration The required announcement trunk group, intercept codes and a special routing for emergency calls, for example, may be administered in the network nodes. For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-RO. Subscriber administration In subscriber administration, each subscriber is assigned to one of the emergency areas marked with the corresponding originating mark. For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-SU. GeoCENTREX administration For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-CTX.
